...Since I have started writing reviews on the contents of my kitchen I would like to follow up by telling you about my SMEG fridge freezer yes the names funny but the fridge freezer is a serious piece of equipment that I would never be without even though it cost my mum as a house warming present over £1700 well she would not buy me any other brand as she swears by SMEG and we have always had this brand in my family home. My fab Smeg!

Advantages: Lots of gas rings and internal cooker space
Disadvantages: Hard to keep clean!

Happy days, the re-run

..., when I noticed the Smeg FAB 32AZ, despite it's boring name. It has a fifties look, all rounded and inviting. And it is available in, wait for it, all of the following colours: black; blue; cream; pastel blue; pastel green; pink; red; silver; stainless steel or white. The joy! With hardly a second thought, I purchased the pastel blue version, with its oversized softly curved chrome handles and SMEG in widely spaced chrome lettering across the top. My retro style, pastel blue fridge freezer is just the thing to finish my kitchen off. I've been leaning towards a 50's-Americana-ice-cream-parlour look for a while, with a white formica dining set with chrome legs, and pale pink and blue tiling. The smaller appliances are all chrome and curvy, and I've oodles of big glasses with straws and sundae dishes to accessorise my little fantasy...

...for soem of its bigger brothers! The SMEG FAB28 is a very generous fridge with an ice box on the top that we use for nothing other than making ice cubes. You could fit a couple of bits in the ice box, but nothing much. The fridge itself is a great size, much bigger than a standard fridge or the fridge section of a fridge freezer and perfect for a large family to fit all their requirements into. Even at Christmas there was plenty of room for the Christmas food shop! Finish The finish to the fridge is superb. Ours is a classic cream colour because that is what fits in with our kitchen and being quite plain will hopefully match if we were to move again, however the fridge is available in a myriad of different colours and even designs such as union jacks etc. It looks and feels quality, no plastic outside here, but perfectly enamalled...

Do not buy

Disadvantages: Too many to mention....

...minute before closing the door again or it won't pick up where it left off. On the other hand, if you don't get the door open sharpish after it's finished you will find everything sweaty later on. It is also taller than a standard dishwasher so won't fit into a designated space, it's freestanding only, it does tell you this, but still annoying. Please do not be tempted by this machines good looks. You will be horrified at it's performance. Smeg are not one bit interested in the design faults in this machine, they keep telling me I am not entitled to a refund "Just because I don't like it" IT'S NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!...

...I had always wanted a pink smeg fridge, so was overjoyed when my mother-in-law offered to buy us one as a wedding present. To be honest, I didn't research it, I knew it came in pink, it was bigger than my last fridge and that was as far as I looked. After ordering it we were asked to specify which side we would like the handle on as the door is not reversible. This wasn't a hard choice for us at this stage, but I guess if we move and want it somewhere the door may open the wrong way. That will be something we will have to consider if and when.
