...I am a smoker myself, it is a horrible habit. I have plenty of friends who don't smoke and I respect that, so in pubs I go outside. Not all smokers are so considerate and will smoke inside pubs. If they chose to inhale it other people shouldn't suffer. I know people who don't smoke but are encouraged when out drinking, if smoking was banned in pubs those socable smokers would be non - smokers. I also think that if people have to go outside especially in the winter to have a cig, smokers will cut - down their smoking habit. Maybe even stop smoking. It stinks. As I smoke it gets on my clothes and hair, but when it's in pub with lot's of people smoking the non - smokers will smell as well and won't be attractive either. Can cause Cancer to the innocent non - smokers. So think the next time your in a pub. If you want a cig be conciderate... Read review

...I am a Smoker for last about 12 years. I like smoking (do I really like it? read the opinion and you will know), otherwise why should I have been a smoker? But when you ask me whether it should be banned on public places, there is a big yes from me. Why "Yes" from a smoker? .. Well; I do know that it affects others and i hate to harm anyone for purely my actions or for being near me. Infact, smoking should be banned at all places where others (non-smokers are present. Such places should included offices, trains, shops and all other place where you can find more people gathered for any reason. In public places, restaurents, waiting rooms and other closed places like this have more passive smoking effects on non-smokers. Its not only the health factor, its the liking or disliking too. ...Overall i don't beleive that smoking should be banned completley in every public place, maybe if a bar, club or shopping centre chooses to do it then go for it but it's just going to lose them business. Last year for my holiday I went to Florida obviously Disney being a key place to visit. In every park there was designated areas for smokers down little side streets and in corners, this meant smokers were able to do what they wanted to do, and it doesn't none smokers at all. I beleive this is the best way to go about it. This kind of isolates the smoker, possibly meaning they have to leave there family or friends for a period of time unless they choose to enter the designated area with them, but either way it doesn't isolate them completely and it means none smokers have no problems. This may eventually be an incentive for smokers... Read review

...As a non-smoker it baffles me how inconsiderate some of the smoking lot are. Why should anyone suffer from the smoker's addiction? If I am really unlucky I could die by passive smoking, never knowing who the culprit was. In my op I will not list any stats, as most of us know how dangerous smoking can be. I urge all you smokers to please quit, for the sake of a better environment, for a better future for our kids, (evan if you don't have any). Why are you slowly committing suicide? ...Aha! I have come out of my 'chilling period' just because I feel like stirring up a bit of trouble and what better way to do it than in this category ;o) Naughty me. Actually, being a smoker myself, I'm hoping to come across in a thoughtful, unbiased way. This may prove to be difficult being an 'evil person who inflicts my death causing fumes onto the non smoking population' (A quote from un unbiased non-smoker!) First, I know it's a dirty habit, second I know it is harmful to my health and thirdly I also know that I am addicted. I have given up before quite easily, for two whole years once and then gone back to it. Why? I don't know, I just did. ...The answer is not to ban smoking in pubs, clubs and food and drink establishments, but to section off the smoking area with beter ventilation as most of the pubs and clubs are now doing. As a smoker myself I feel sick that the government are trying to stop me from going to my favourite places just because I smoke. Now im not a nasty man and would not subject any non smoker to my smoking habbit by blowing it in their faces or smoking near them. I move well away from those who dont smoke and in most places that I regularly attend have very good ventilation. For a few pounds for updating the pubs or clubs ventilation systems by installing a exstractor fan and designate smokers area. That will stop the smoke circulating around the non smokers and make everyone happy. I am worried that if this ban is enforced the smoking community... Read review

...OK, so the question arises. Should smoking be banned in public places? My response to this is that I personally believe it should be! The reason for this is that many diseases and conditions can be caught through smoking such as Asthma, Cancer, and Heart Disease. These diseases can not only be caught by smokers themselves but passers by can also inhale the air, this is known as Passive Smoking. This raises the point that smokers are not only endangering themselves but other people as well. Surely people complain about the NHS and the waiting list and all that rubbish, but smokers only have themselves to blame. They waste health and money, without the need to. On average, a smoker can lose about 7 minutes of his/her life with every cigarette. The NAC (national asthma campaign) is campaigning for people to understand... Read review

...I am a non smoker who has very sensitive nose. In short, I have sinus. When I visited cafes in London, the first thing that I check was whether there are anyone smoking. If there is, I would go to another until I find one that has fresh air for me to breathe. Singapore, my country, banned smoking in all eating places especially those with air-con. To the smokers, it might not be fair but to non smokers like myself, it is really a welcome move. Anytime, a non smoker visits the eateries in Singapore, you feel really comfortable and that you could eat in peace. The reasons why I feel smoking should be ban in public places are : a) Health Reason People like myself who has history of sinus would hae lots of breathing problems as we tend to be sensitive to the smoke. They have freely polluted our public air with their crap and when they are finally told to keep the filthy habit to themselves the pull the most outrageous excuses out of the proverbial hat.
