Gives you a sporting chance...
Advantages: Excellent detection range for both Radar and Laser based speed traps, full info display, voice alert, effective against Ku band Mini GATSO cameras
Disadvantages: Will nor spot passive devices such as SPECS and TRUVELO, planned to make it along with other detectors of it's type illegal in 2006
...NOW BEFORE I START THIS REVIEW.
I AM NOT CONDONING DANGEROUS DRIVING OR UNNECESSARY SPEEDING.
The Bel Euro 550 is an updated and enhanced verison of the Bel 980 I reviewd earlier-some of the review will be duplicated but not everybody is going to want to read two reviews to get info about one product so here goes..
I owned a Bel 980 for almost two years back between 2000-2002 and was very happy with it's performance.Progress never stops and eventually it has been updated and enhanced.
Now, I purchased a Valentine One and my boss recognised the need for a good Radar detector but didn't want to spend £400-600 on it. So after a discussion, I recommended the Euro 550.
The Euro 550 is the current top of the range detector available from Bel and available through a number of suppliers. RRP is currently £399.95 through Networx...

Super Snooper
Advantages: Gives You A Chance
Disadvantages: False Alerts (but you soon work it out)
...THESE UNITS ARE NOT A LICENCE TO SPEED AND I DO NOT ENDORSE SPEEDING. THIS IS MEARLY A REVIEW OF THE PRODUCT. IT IS PROVEN THAT PEOPLE WHO USE THESE UNITS HAVE 24% LESS ACCIDENTS. BY KNOWING WHERE CAMERAS ARE THE OVERALL AVERAGE SPEED MUST DECREASE.
QUICK OVERVIEW
What is a snooper?
For those of you that don't know what these great little gadgets are, they are speed camera detectors. Basically they give you a chance of saving some points, your licence and a bit of money (after initial cost). They are aimed at making drivers slow down because they know there is a camera. It's also proven that snooper users have less accidents (it says so on the box at least). Oh and they are 100% legal in the UK.
IN DETAIL
Range
GATSO Cameras can be detected upto 75 yards
MINI GATSO Cameras upto 400 yards
LASER and RADAR Guns upto 1 mile...

Snooper SD815is
Advantages: 5 Band detection, range of use
Disadvantages: A bit too sensitive at times - keeps bleeping
...Having received 2 fixed penalties for speeding in 1 month, at speeds not significantly over the limit, nor at anything like some drivers you see flying past you (but that's a different story!), I decided to buy a radar detector. The models available differ vastly in price, ranging from about £100 upto £600, with the major differences being the detection range and frequencies covered. The cheaper models only cover 4 bands, missing out the new mini-gatso cameras, so I opted for the Snooper SD815is, giving 5 band detection and good range, upto 2 miles for radar and laser guns, 600 yards for the mini gatsos and 100 yards for gatso cameras.
The unit sits on either a frame using suckers to fix to the windscreen or with a bit of velcro to attach to your dash and is powered via the fag lighter, though you can hardwire the power lead into...

Why do i need a speed trap detector?
Advantages: Detects everything known to man - almost!
Disadvantages: Expensive to buy and ongoing update costs
...Firstly, i do not condone the breaking of speed limits but along with my review of this product i will also explain my reason for purchasing it.
I purchased my Snooper from In Car Express who are a automotive specialist in Cambridge. They have an excellent website and their prices are very competitive. I can recommend them.
I actually purchased the S6-R Plus which is exactually the same model as the S6-R apart from the display. The Plus has a relaxing blue display compared to the original green one. This Snooper consits of three components; the main display; the laser/radar detector; the GPS antenna. It additionally has the added benefit that you are not required to conect it to a computer to update its database of fixed camera locations, as it has an inbuilt modem and can be connected directly to any telephone socket.

Snooper 715iS
Advantages: Warns you when Gatso Cameras are nearby
Disadvantages: Can be quite loud, Petrol Station camera's set it off.
...I have used this speed camera detector now for about 9 months and have found it very useful. I purchased it because I had been doing a lot of travelling in areas I didn't know and therefore didn't want to be caught out by a Speed Camera.
It is designed to detect Gatso Cameras. These are the most common sort of camera you can get caught by and are the bright yellow ones on the side of the road along with horizontal lines in the road. Because the cameras are operated by infrared, the Snooper picks up this signal and sounds the alarm. What is interesting is that sometimes there isn't a camera inside the box but the light will still flash. Because it is the camera that has the infrared attached to it, if you approach a camera box without a camera being in there, the alarm won't go off. Thereby you can see which have cameras in them...

Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Advantages: Peace of Mind
Disadvantages: Have to remember to change them
...detectors, the ones I chose were from Tesco and a twin pack costs £4.99 which is a small price to pay for Peace of mind. These discs are placed on the wall near gas appliances and a change in the colour will register whether carbon monoxide is apparent. I now live in the country, without gas but if I remember right the detectors last for 60 days and then have to be replaced.
They also must not be placed near nappies or any cleaning products that could contain ammonia as this could affect the reading.
This product though is no substitute for having your gas appliances tested professionally...

S4 NEO + RADAR
Advantages: It works...but
Disadvantages: Little more to pay+does it work?
...Right my first review so bear with me.
Ok firstly i have bought a new car wich exceeds limits swiftly, but i dont condone speeding.
Secondly i paid £2k to make it faster,(ditto above)
Hence buying a SNOOPER S4,for which i paid £279 + £100 for the additional radar detector.
First up,to actually make this thing work you need to register online because it wont work otherwise(security so say) to register it costs!!!!!!
Now i paid about a hundred quid for 3yrs which includes updates for that period. So you have to be online(or do a lenghty phone session).
The downloading and updating is very simple and please dont be put off by this.
Once this is done its a real doddle, just plug in to your cigar lighter and go.
Does it work?
Yes,superb so far and living in Bournemouth it goes of often.
There is a pleasant ladies voice advising...

Snooper S6R & S6RLD
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: False Sense of Secuity - Picks up everthing EXCEPT Speed Detectors
...RUBBISH.
These are a very expensive con. Not only that, having one lead you into a false sense of security.
I have the S6R & S6RLD laser. The unit itself works fine, but you need to keep up with the updates - I could not download them for some time, which was very annoying.
The laser picks up traffic lights, mobile phone masts and overhead power lines. BUT NOT Police hand held lasers. I have been stopped twice and the laser did not detect them. So Snooper telling me that they couldn't have been pointing it at me is just wrong!!
I sent the whole lot back to them just before Christmas and it has now been returned to me. They say there is nothing wrong with the laser and they have changed the phone number in the unit.
When I asked if I would get a refund for the Subs as I had not been able to download anything I was told no...

The ultimate safety device to help keep your licence clean
Advantages: Small, sleek, stylish, lets you know what the speed limit is, informs of hidden dangers
Disadvantages: Can't link it to a separate satnav system
...****What is it****
The Snooper Sapphire is a speed camera detector system that works using a GPS signal. However, unlike conventional and similar products the Sapphire also warns of other road hazards such as exceptionally tight corners (you know the ?U-bend? type), schools, hidden dips, dangerous junctions and the like.
****In the box****
The box weighs in at 1.1kg, most of which is excess packaging although there are some accessories in addition to the unit itself. The box includes:
i)The Snooper Sapphire
ii) A wall charger
iii) An in car charger
iv) Headphones
v) A dash mount
vi) A windscreen mount
vii) Instructions
Other than a protective case and a dual car-charging plug (of which you may not need), the box contains everything you need which is a good thing as I have not found any additional accessories...

Au Revoir Radar
Advantages: Superb characterisation
Disadvantages: Possibly too dark at points for some viewers
...Sade to desist and depart***
In all the previous series? the next member of staff in line has been Corporal ?Radar? O?Reily but this series sees Radar being sent home and so he only plays a minimal part in the first five episodes. It is Klinger therefore that steps up to the plate of Company Clerk after Radar?s departure. The rest of the series has seen Klinger bucking for a section 8, madness, discharge and so frequenting the camp in women?s clothing. In this series however he gives up the women?s clothing and although he doesn?t completely give up trying to escape the army this change to his character allows us to see a far different side to Klinger than we have before. Ultimately he proves that he is not only a superb orderly and general help in pre-op post-op and the operating room itself but can also be relied upon to do clerical...
