Snooper S6R & S6RLD

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: False Sense of Secuity - Picks up everthing EXCEPT Speed Detectors

...RUBBISH. These are a very expensive con. Not only that, having one lead you into a false sense of security. I have the S6R & S6RLD laser. The unit itself works fine, but you need to keep up with the updates - I could not download them for some time, which was very annoying. The laser picks up traffic lights, mobile phone masts and overhead power lines. BUT NOT Police hand held lasers. I have been stopped twice and the laser did not detect them. So Snooper telling me that they couldn't have been pointing it at me is just wrong!! I sent the whole lot back to them just before Christmas and it has now been returned to me. They say there is nothing wrong with the laser and they have changed the phone number in the unit. When I asked if I would get a refund for the Subs as I had not been able to download anything I was told no...

SPEED CAMERAS - FULL DETECTION

Advantages: Radar/Laser and GPS Speed Camera Detection
Disadvantages: False Alerts and The Horrible Monthly Charge

...it?s a small price to pay to keep your licence clean and avoid the fines too. However having recently given the new Snooper S4 a test it?s a very tight competition between the two, because the S4 doesn?t do radar so you won?t give false alarms, but the Snooper S6 does radar (which is more protection) but will give false alarms. I?m torn between the two right now. However if you go for it I?d recommend going for option B from the above list....

Why do i need a speed trap detector?

Advantages: Detects everything known to man - almost!
Disadvantages: Expensive to buy and ongoing update costs

...Firstly, i do not condone the breaking of speed limits but along with my review of this product i will also explain my reason for purchasing it. I purchased my Snooper from In Car Express who are a automotive specialist in Cambridge. They have an excellent website and their prices are very competitive. I can recommend them. I actually purchased the S6-R Plus which is exactually the same model as the S6-R apart from the display. The Plus has a relaxing blue display compared to the original green one. This Snooper consits of three components; the main display; the laser/radar detector; the GPS antenna. It additionally has the added benefit that you are not required to conect it to a computer to update its database of fixed camera locations, as it has an inbuilt modem and can be connected directly to any telephone socket. Once...

Super Snooper

Advantages: Gives You A Chance
Disadvantages: False Alerts (but you soon work it out)

...Ok it depends how much you want to spend. It really is as simple as that. If you've got the money to spend then you may be better off with one of the newer gps units (snooper s4/road angel/snooper s6/etc but don't forget they need monthly or yearly charges). This is a one off payment available for about £180 off the shelf in some shops. They are so easy to fit and use. All you do is plug it into the cigar lighter then either use the supplied window or dash fix and away you go. Now the way the units work is on radar scatter - so if your following a car that goes through a gatso (or other radar emmitting camera) it will cause the radar single to "bounce off" and that is what you pick up. This is where you get the full distance which is plenty of time to be aware of the speed camera. However if your on the road on your own you do need...

Snooper SD815is

Advantages: 5 Band detection, range of use
Disadvantages: A bit too sensitive at times - keeps bleeping

...Having received 2 fixed penalties for speeding in 1 month, at speeds not significantly over the limit, nor at anything like some drivers you see flying past you (but that's a different story!), I decided to buy a radar detector. The models available differ vastly in price, ranging from about £100 upto £600, with the major differences being the detection range and frequencies covered. The cheaper models only cover 4 bands, missing out the new mini-gatso cameras, so I opted for the Snooper SD815is, giving 5 band detection and good range, upto 2 miles for radar and laser guns, 600 yards for the mini gatsos and 100 yards for gatso cameras. The unit sits on either a frame using suckers to fix to the windscreen or with a bit of velcro to attach to your dash and is powered via the fag lighter, though you can hardwire the power lead into...

Snooper 715iS

Advantages: Warns you when Gatso Cameras are nearby
Disadvantages: Can be quite loud, Petrol Station camera's set it off.

...I have used this speed camera detector now for about 9 months and have found it very useful. I purchased it because I had been doing a lot of travelling in areas I didn't know and therefore didn't want to be caught out by a Speed Camera. It is designed to detect Gatso Cameras. These are the most common sort of camera you can get caught by and are the bright yellow ones on the side of the road along with horizontal lines in the road. Because the cameras are operated by infrared, the Snooper picks up this signal and sounds the alarm. What is interesting is that sometimes there isn't a camera inside the box but the light will still flash. Because it is the camera that has the infrared attached to it, if you approach a camera box without a camera being in there, the alarm won't go off. Thereby you can see which have cameras in them...

My First Mobile Phone- Through Rose-Tinted Glasses

Advantages: easy to use buttons, very logical, comfortable to hold and talk
Disadvantages: SLIGHTLY HEAVY - my son called it "a BRICK"

...collect her keys to her new flat, my eye was caught by a sign outside a mobile phone shop - "ALL-IN-ONE - £49.99 - Unlimited Weekend Local Calls for 12 months - LAST THREE DAYS" - and my bargain-hunting instinct, well-honed through years of subsistence, making-do with available ingredients JUMPED TO ALERT! Not that long ago, these same phones - and contracts - had been sold for over £150!!! The tariff-rebate was equal to £16.99 every month for 12 months. I went into the shop and looked at the phones available. They were Siemens S6, attached to the one2one network. That was the network my daughter's phone had been on. Her contract phone had been stolen in August but because she was under 18, the contract was in her father's name, and although the chip had been replaced, the insurance was held to have been invalidated because the contract...

The ultimate safety device to help keep your licence clean

Advantages: Small, sleek, stylish, lets you know what the speed limit is, informs of hidden dangers
Disadvantages: Can't link it to a separate satnav system

.... Some may consider the screen too small, but considering the amount of information it needs to display at any one time I do not see this an issue. In addition, a larger screen would mean a larger unit, which defeats the objective of having a small and sleek unit that doesn?t take up too much space. ****Features**** According to the literature in the box the Sapphire will detect ?all types of fixed and mobile speed cameras including Gatso ?daddy? cameras, truvelo cameras, Specs average speed cameras, DS-2s, Speedcurb, watchman and multi lens Gatso ?daddy? cameras?. Unfortunately I am not up to date with technological advancements in speed cameras and wouldn?t know one speed camera from another so I can?t comment on the accuracy of Snooper?s claim. That said, I can honestly say that it has picked up all speed cameras I have encountered...
