Full fat soft cheese

Advantages: Can be used for light snacks or in cooking
Disadvantages: are there any

...I am a huge fan of cheese full stop and that includes cream cheese spread. I have tried Philadelphia cream cheese which I have to confess is really nice. Tesco do an own version of this which I first tried many years ago, I recall it being something like 50p for 200g. I really enjoy the taste of the Tesco version, it is soft and creamy (as stated on the label), its really easy to spread. It tastes really creamy too, it's a cool fresh cheesy taste. Cream cheese is really versatile, I often enjoy it in a tortilla wrap as a quick snack or a replacement for a sandwich. I love it on toasted bagels with smoked salmon, that really is delicious. Cream cheese is great to use in cooking recipes also. CREAM CHEESE CHICKEN BREASTS 6 chicken breast halves, skinned and boned 1 pkg. (8 oz.) light cream cheese 4 green onions...

Boursin Soft Cheese - Yes Please !

Advantages: Versatile, tastes delicious
Disadvantages: Price, high in fat (except Light variety), moreish !

...I'd choose savoury over sweet any day of the week and Boursin is one of the products I almost always have in the fridge - it's so versatileand can be eaten hot or cold at any time of the day - it's pure heaven. (".) What is Boursin ? (".) Boursin is a soft cheese like no other; I can't stand Philadelphia for example but this is something different. It is smooth and creamy but not in a sickly way, almost fluffy in texture but it will also spread quite easily onto a cracker. Boursin is available in three flavours; Garlic & Fine Herbs - the traditional flavour and my personal favourite, Light Garlic & Herbs (no less stingy on the added ingredients but made with 70% less fat and 60% less calories than the original variety) and Pepper. (".) What is it made from and who is it suitable for ? (".) Boursin is made from the finest...

A Fresh and Light Soft Cheese from France

Advantages: Creamy Rich, sweet flavour Nice table cheese
Disadvantages: Very Few

...Boursin soft cheese really is one of the great French cheeses. It is best described as a modern, creamery, fresh cheese of cylindrical shape and it comes without a rind. It was initially introduced in 1957 in the Normandy region by one Monsier Boursin, hence its name. This delicate soft cheese has a distinctive fresh and light taste with a rich, sweet, flavour and there is a rather subtle hint of acidity about it. It is normally flavoured with the likes of garlic, herbs and pepper. It is used as a table cheese for spreading and bakery and features in a lot of recipes. For breakfast you could try it on a Mini Grilled Toast (Pain Grille) ,with a slice of Raisin Bread, a Croissant or with some Water Biscuits. For your midday meal how about Boursin Baked Potatoes or in evening a Stuffed Jacket Potato with Leeks,Cheddar and Boursin cheese...

A Creamy , tasty cheese for less!

Advantages: Full of taste, really creamy
Disadvantages: 314kcal/100g!

...The one Im reviewing is the ASDA SOFT & CREAMY FULL FAT SOFT CHEESE. 200G. A creamy-melt-in your-mouth-cheese that caught me by surprise. Creamy & pact texture. No water building on the side even if you leave it in the fridge for days. (as long as you keep the lid on tight and consume after 5 days of opening) To be honest, Ive always thought that when you buy the "leading brand" you always get the best taste or best quality. After all, you have to pay extra more. This product proved me wrong! So, if you prefer TASTE and quality rather than counting your calories. I highly recommend this. This has a whooping 314kcal/100g, Fat 30.0g/100g (Compare to Philidelphia Full fat original only 255kcal/100g, Fat 24.0g/100g). And because it's ASDA you expect to pay a little less. The 200g only costs £0.82p. Whilst Philidelphia, 200g is £1...

Jarlsberg cheese

Advantages: A sweet,nutty Norwegian cheese
Disadvantages: none

...Jarlsberg cheese named after the Norwegian county where it was first made, maybe doesn't have the popularity of Emmental ,but it is a versatile all purpose cows milk cheese,it can be used in cooking as well as being a welcome addition to any cheeseboard sandwich or salad. A very similar appearance to Emmethal ,a golden waxy rind with a nutty mild, rich, mellow and slightly sweet and shiny golden interior filled with irregular holes. Jarlsberg was created by a Norwegian dairy farmer,Andres Larsen Bakke, way back in the 1850`s. Jarlsberg is one of Norway's biggest exports. It is a firm favourite of mine, especially for cooking, the cheese melts beautifully and has a subtle flavour that will sit in the background rather than appear overpowering. Jarlsberg has a slightly lower fat content than Swiss cheese too. We really enjoy making...

Cheese to Please!

Advantages: Tasty, easy to make recipes using cheese!
Disadvantages: If you hate cheese you're stuffed!

...), then heat the oil in a frying pan and cook the cakes for 5 minutes on each side. By this stage they should be golden and crispy on the outside, but nice and soft on the inside. Caerphilly, Bacon & Leek Welsh Cakes This is another of my favourite cheesy cake recipes, this time using Caerphilly cheese. These cakes are very tasty and the mix between the bacon and the cheese flavours is really nice. Again, this works well because of the crumbly texture of the Caerphilly. I would recommend not using smoked bacon because the flavour is a bit too overpowering - I've tried so I know! ~~~WHAT YOU NEED. Some oil for frying 75 g (3 oz) streaky bacon, chopped 1 leek, cleaned and chopped 225 g (8 oz) plain flour 1 tsp baking powder pinch of salt 50 g (2 oz) butter 50 g (2 oz) Caerphilly cheese, crumbled 6 large eggs ~~~HOW YOU DO...

Cheese & Onion delights.

Advantages: Great taste, good packet.
Disadvantages: None.

...Walkers crisps are the original and one of the best in my opinion. The crisps are a good size and cut from good potatoes, it is very rare to find a bad crisp in your bag and this is great as I don't have to particularly worry about paying much attention when delving in to the bag and wolfing down a whole packet in 2 minutes flat! The crisps come in a foil bag (for freshness) with blue colouring (for cheese & onion) and the familiar Walkers logo as well as nutritional information, ingredients and further details on cooking methods, potatoes used and information on Walkers themselves. The bag is very informative and for the purposes of reviewing I had a good old read of the changes that have been made in recent years (less fat and better oil etc) and was astounded by the sheer amount of information that they feel necessary to print...

Squeaky Cheese?

Advantages: Tasty, reasonable price
Disadvantages: The sqeaking can take some getting used to!

...A friend of mine recently introduced me to a new type of cheese called Halloumi. Being a cheese lover already, I was more then willing to try it but have to say that it is very different from any other type of cheese. Halloumi comes from Cyprus and is usually made from goats and sheep?s milk. However, the version of this cheese that tends to be sold in the supermarket?s, is made with cow?s milk and does taste slightly different from the traditional recipe. Halloumi has a texture which is most similar to Mozzarella and it is also the same light, almost white colour. Halloumi tends to come stored in salty water which doe make the cheese taste salty, but personally, I really love it. I usually tend to buy my Halloumi from Tesco?s and the brand that I get from here is from the Discover range (the product shown in the photo...

Polenta Cheese Gratin

Advantages: A light tasy dish! And it's also vegetarian!
Disadvantages: None I can think of

...Now a staple part in an Italian's diet is cheese! Cheese is nearly always found somewhere in a dish and always served after a meal (or it is in my family!!). Cheese is just as important as meat and plays a vital role throughout the regions of Italy. The dish/ recipe I will be reviewing is also a vegetarian dish which is great and the main base of the dish is polenta. Polenta is made from boiled cornmeal and is incredibly popular throughout Europe. You can cook polenta in many ways and can vary from region to country. Ingredients:- Polenta:- 7 cups water 1 tablespoon salt 1-2/3 cups coarse-grained Italian yellow cornmeal An 8-10 cup bowl, preferably stainless steel Filling:- 1-1/2 cups grated Fontina cheese, divided 2 tablespoons butter 1-1/2 cups Traditional Tomato Sauce (pasata) 1 tablespoon finely chopped rosemary, divided Salt...

Squeezable Primula Cheese!

Advantages: Lots of flavours, good design, attractive packaging, real pieces of ham, good source of calcium.
Disadvantages: None.

...rimula cheese spread is available in several varieties (smoked cheese, cheese, cheese and chives, cheese & ham & cheese and shrimp). I have tried most varieties and my favourites are the cheese & chives and cheese & ham variety. They are available from £1.13-£1.17 in Tesco stores and this is for a 150g squeezable tube. The tubes are thicker at the top than the bottom and they each have a picture of what is mixed with the cheese and the blue Primula logo and a blue screw top. Once the top is removed there is a foil fresh tab which keeps the product fresh until you open it and helps ensure that it has not been tampered with. I really like products with this feature as it's makes me feel confident that nobody has messed around with my product on the supermarket shelf. The cheese is lovely and soft and smooth and the addition of chives...
