Great holiday at the Sol Trinidad
Advantages: Location, location, location
Disadvantages: Noisy for some guests
...We went on holiday to Majorca for 10 days in July and stayed at the Sol Trinidad hotel in Magaluf. We have been to Magaluf in the past and stayed at a Sol hotel which we really liked and so decided to give this one a go. We booked it off teletext and stayed half-board.
The hotel has 375 rooms spread over 9 floors, we had a pool view room on the forth floor which was quite handy as the two (very small!) lifts were out of action a few times and I was grateful for only having to climb four flights of stairs.
It is situated a 2 minute walk across the road to the beach, and the road along the front of the hotel has lots of shops (clothes, souvenirs, booze, fags etc) and the road behind mainly bars and BCM the major nightclub where Radio 1 were doing there live weekend while we were there. It is a 5 minute walk to the strip where all...

Sol Guadalupe, The Place To Be!
Advantages: Great entertainment, great location, great food.
Disadvantages: Some people are never satisfied with what the staff do.
...I have been going to the Sol Guadalupe for the past 5 years with my family. The reason we keep going back is just because it gets better and better every time we visit.
So for those of you who have not been to Majorca before why should you go ?.
Its a short flight (2 - 3 hours)
Its hot from May to September
It has something for all age ranges (Stag Do`s, Familys, Teen Holiday)
It has great background culture
It has a wide range of different but all spectacular beaches
Celebrity's go there on there yachts
So there is 1,000`s of hotels in Majorca right ? So what makes the Sol Guadalupe so special ?
There is 20+ different Sol hotels in Majorca all ranging from all ranging from 3*`s to 5*`s or apartments.
Sol Guadalupe is in Magalluf this part of Majorca can often be referred to as more of a party central to the younger...

The Best Laid Plans
Advantages: Location, staff, level of service, food, facilities
Disadvantages: Crowds, soulless bars, some of the other guests...*ahem*!
...time I decided to choose a resort town on the south of the island, allowing relatively easy access to the city of Palma de Mallorca.
I finally chose Palma Nova, a town I had visited with my husband over ten years ago when we had taken the bus from the city of Palma for a look around. We found it a pretty average looking resort at the time, with my husband complaining it was "too British", which is a fair assessment.
I eventually chose the Sol Mirlos Tordos hotel - I have stayed in several Melia hotels in Spain and one thing I can safely say about the Sol Melia group is that they know how to run hotels, so whilst a Melia was outwith my budget, I was happy to book a hotel from one of their cheaper brands.
The complex consists of two hotels, the Mirlos (blackbirds) and Tordos (thrushes). We had booked an all-inclusive stay, meaning we would...

Cala Bona - Tip-Top..!!
Advantages: Close amenities/Friendly locals/Nightlife/Shopping/Food to suit all
Disadvantages: quiet at times and building construction going on as the area is seeing more touism
...Well lets begin, about 4 years ago now I went on holiday to this fantastic little resort, not through choice mind you. You see my friend and myself decided to pack up our bags, pick a cheap flight off the teletext and jet off to 'sunny Spain' - (Majorca or as the locals spell it Mallorca) for a week........
When we arrived in Palma airport, we were directed to the Rep as our holiday was an allocations on arrivial. Imagine our surprise when the Rep directed an ELDERLY couple to Magaluf and us to a place called 'Cala Bona'??!?
After spending our first day finding our way about we actually found it to be very pleasant, with a beautiful harbour and the locals were so friendly. The beach was a beautiful cove of rocks which you could walk out on and made you feel very far out from the land.
That night we decided to go to a little...

A VERY pleasant surprise
Advantages: Spacious room, Lovely pool setting, very clean.
Disadvantages: Karaoke bar just across the road! Cleaning staff , bordered on rude.
...I booked a VERY cheap family holiday for 9 days in October 2006 through FlyGlobeSpan, ex Glasgow. I was rather worried what I was going to, as the price was so good. However, I need not have worried. Even the flight out was better than expected.
We hired a car and after taking a few extra little tours (ie we got lost) we arrived in Cala D'Or. It was dark and eventhough I'd printed off instructions on how to find the Hotel, we went round and round in circles, as we couldn't see any road signs. I insisted hubby stop so we could ask directions, only to discover we were actually there. The receptionist was expecting us, and spoke to us by name. We were given our key, handed over out passports and directed up to the 2nd floor.
The electricity only works when the rear end of the key is slipped into a slot near the Apartment door...

Hotel Samoa - Calas De Mallorca
Advantages: Friendly staff, balcony, nice views
Disadvantages: Out of the way, small, noisy rooms
...was the only time we could be in there without constantly being bashed. The entertainment is...interesting. To be honest, it's somewhat annoying hearing each line in five different languages, but I can understand why they'd have to do that. One of the entertainment nights was excellent, the rest have either been average or awful! But it's free and it's something to do, you might like it. There is also crazy golf which is free and quite good. It's quite shaded by trees so you won't be passing out from the heat while you're doing it, and there's a good variety. It's not very crowded either, there was only one other group playing when we were there. You can play tennis and football etc, though there is only one court so expect to have to fight for your place.
Calas de Mallorca is the other side of the island to Palma, but it's well worth...

Melia Pala Atenea Palma de Majorca
Advantages: Ideal for a relaxing break.
Disadvantages: 30 minute walk to the beach if that's your thing
...Great Location & Great Staff
05/05/2007 - 12/07/2007 approx £100 per room, per night B&B.
First time we have stayed at this hotel but have used the Sol Melia Group throughout Spain before.
The hotel is located on the Paseo Maritimo in Palma and has excellent views over the marina and Bay of Palma and is about a 20 minute stroll to the centre of Palma. Ideal for visiting the bars and restuarants of the old town at night and the beautiful city of Palma during the day. There is also a good range of bars, cafes etc along the Paseo Maritimo if the 20 minute walk is an issue.
The facilities were good especially the pool area which was spotless, had plenty of space and the best pool bar staff I've met in a long time. Once they got to know you nothing was a problem and the standard of service was friendly and relaxed. The level...

Cala Millor Review
Advantages: Relaxed, bars, restaurants, sandy beach, water sports
Disadvantages: Easily bored after the first week
...Cala Millor is a super resort for a rest on the beach. The sea has a gentle incline and apart from the palm leaf debris regularly washing in, is a great swim for all ages.
There is a super little sandwich bar right on the front near the police building on the beach who's home made rolls to order and take away local drinks, etc, make it well worth a visit.
There is plenty of flat promenade to walk, bicycle hire is easy. Cala Bona is at the north end of the beach and is worth an evening stroll.
The promenade offers a variety of eating oppotunities,it is not difficult to ascertain whom each facility caters for, which was a blessing. For the Brit, a visit to Stokers Bar, the leather shop and Gorans short order bar ( all next to each other at the begining of Cala Bona is well worth the short walk. Cas Torrandor resturant in Cala...

Castillo de Sol, Puerto Rico
Advantages: Clean, Good entertainment for the kids, good pool
Disadvantages: up the hillside
...This was our third trip to Puerto Rico and the first time we had stayed on the hillside.
We stayed during the middle of October 2006
The Castillo de Sol Apartments are very clean. We stayed in a one bedroomed apartment. The bedroom was a good size with two good sized wardrobes and a dressing table with a nice large mirror. As always, it was a twin bedded room so we just slid the beds together.
Our daughter slept on the sofa bed in the lounge area (bedding was left for us).
There was a hand towel and a bath towel for each of us which were changed every other day. bedding was changed once during the week we stayed. The maids cleaned 5-6 days per week.
The rooms are basic but more than adequate for our needs (somewhere to get changed and to sleep at night!) We did have a TV in the room which took Euro coins and even the smaller 10...

Calas de Mallorca - a familys point of view
Advantages: Sun, sea sand, nie friendly people, quiet environment, everything is cheap
Disadvantages: It rained for 3 days ; everything was so cheap I had to buy another suitcase to bring everything home!
...I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Calas de Mallorca, with my family including 3 youngsters aged between 7 and 14. As this was the first family holiday for 5 years, and the first time the boys have flown, I wanted it to be special.
The travel agent was very helpful finding a holiday within our budget and with plenty for the children. So in June we found ourselves jetting out of Leeds aiport to Palma. The main problem with the outward journey was because it was a night flight, the children were up all day, all the night and cranky for the first day of the holiday.
The coach journey between Palma and Calas de Mallorca took just over an hour and a half, with the travel rep complaining all the time that she was tired!!! When we arrived, we were shown to the hotel reception and from there, to our rooms (two adjacent...
