...With the exception of Tenerife I usually tend to holiday places only once, preferring to try new places rather than return to ones I have already visited. I have been to torremolinos twice now though and a large part of the reasoning behind that is this wonderful hotel (Sol Principe). This hotel is situated alongside the beach of Playa mar approximately 2km outside the city of torremolinos. It is served by Malaga airport which is a little over 4 miles away and takes only a 15 minute transfer by coach to reach. On approach to this hotel the first thing that caught my eye was the size of the grounds it stood in but it soon became apparent why. This hotel is actually part of a complex which includes as well as the hotel itself the Apartments Sol Principito, a fairly large private car park, a sports area, gardens, a supermarket...

SUNSHINE ALL DAY (FOR ME) AT THE SOL LANZAROTE

Advantages: fantastically huge balcony, nice rooms, next to beach, friendly cleaning staff
Disadvantages: reception staff fairly unfriendly, luck of draw if you get a good balcony, choice of food

As the last three holidays I have been on have covered the other main Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura) and we had made a daytrip over to Lanzarote and liked it last year (the trip left from Fuerteventura, not from Scotland!), this was ideal for me! My mum told me that the Sol Lanzarote hotel was right next to the beach, and my dad and brother, who went to Lanzarote the month before us (and had worse weather, funnily enough) also stayed in Matagorda and confirmed we were indeed right next to the beach. This was great news as far as I'm concerned, as I generally prefer lying by the sea to lying by the pool (which turned out to be a good thing, as I'll explain later). Advantages: Relaxing, very close to the beach,10 mins away from shops
Disadvantages: not the place to go if you want nightclubs, as its the quieter side of the island

Good value clean hotel

Advantages: Great value, clean, great helpful staff.
Disadvantages: Rear facing rooms are small, food was adequate but not exciting.

Food & Drink We were Half Board so took advantage of the buffet restaurant. Hotel also has a lunchtime cafe bar which we never tried and a pool bar - closed when we visited. The main restaurant generally had plenty of tables and format is the usual package holiday hotel buffet. There was always plenty of food and waiters were very friendly, serving drinks to your table. Very occasionally the restaurant got very busy and a short wait was needed for a table - no great hardship. Generally the food was adequate but not as good as other Sol hotels in Costa del Sol or Canaries. Entertainment The hotel entertainment staff work hard. They have a few professional shows but keep the nightly format the same...

...further afield there is a booking office in the resort and we got a great deal on a trip to the waterpark. We didnt book through the rep as their trips only go cerain days, so if you want an alternative day then go to the office! Only other thing we found was that when we wanted to go to Ibiza Town it took 2 buses to get their so we didnt go, was too hot and we didnt want to drag the kids their when it was hot. All in all very nice and clean hotel, good food only a short walk to lots of things to do in Es Cana. When we went it was a 2 star and Thomson were just starting to place a rep there, now i see its a 3 star which is rightly so but the prices are now higher!...

...The hotel Sol Falco offers self catering, half board and full board. The service is excellent from all the staff and the facilities provided from this large complex are fantastic. The Sol Falco has its own in-house entertainment team which put on proffesional and entertaining shows nearly every night. Scuba Diving activities can be arranged on site, and plenty of space around its variety of pools. You walk into the reception with a fountain in the middle and it gives you a sense of relaxation when you arrive. The complex is very big but a security team patrol the whole site and the roads in and around the complex. ...Ses Savines Is central located right by the sea ,a walkway runs in front which goes to San Antonio about 10mins walk, the rooms that face the sea can be noisy at night from 2am till 6 am with clubbers going to and fro , also rooms can be booked with seaview at a supplement , some rooms have trees in front so the view is blocked and at the price is a rip off if you end up in them , as the sunsets are ace if you can see them , also hotel is generally disabled friendly with ramps about , some places not accessible are the front pool which has 2 steps up to it and the crazy golf, which is at the rear of the building where the tennis courts. the rear is less noisy at night and gets the sun first thing in the morning...

...I have stayed in the Hotel Miami, maybe three times. I have been to Es Cana probably about 8 or 9 times now. I'm only 20. Anyway, on with the review. When I first stayed in the Hotel Miami, I was only young, but I do remember. We had a corner room with a balcony overlooking the sea and bar area, this due to my sister being in a wheelchair and needing the extra space. They were very helpful and did well to accommodate for this. Although the beds needed a bit of a shuffle and the wheelchair could not get into the bathroom. (As I say, we were young so Dad simply lifted her across). The rooms were comfortable. I remember them originally being abit dreary in decor, but I know for a fact they have since decorated as they were a nice light green colour last time I stayed. Really brightening up the room and making you feel welcome...

It was the first week in the season and found it the perfect time to go. It was not over busy but still plenty to do and see. With lots of fantastic bars along the bay. Even in may it was about 27c and sunny for the whole week. Well let me tell you a bit about the hotel ses savines and its surroundings. The hotel is set right on the sandy beach which was very nice and clean with great views over the bay. You get lovely views of the town and all the expensive boats. The views of the sunset from this hotel are amazing. This is a family run hotel and has a sister hotel just a short walk along the bay.
