Boots Soltan Self Tan Light
Advantages: nice, streak free tan
Disadvantages: the way Boots kept prompting you to buy their other products through the directions on the can
...Boots Soltan Self Tan Light
Three months I won this in a packet of prizes. Last week, with the good weather (though I like the weather, I don't want skin care so instead of hours of sunbathing and burnt skin, I opted for faking it) I decided I wasn't going to be the palest person on the planet and got to work. I normally use the Piz Buin fake tan and I'm never used mousse before. There's no category for the light mousse so I hope you don't mind me put it in the Medium section.
++Variety, the price and availability ++
There are only two mousses. Soltan Self Tan No Streaks Mousse Light and Soltan Self Tan No Streaks Mousse Medium. Also there's sprays, wipes or lotion in the self-tan range of Boots.
As it's a Boots brand, you can only get it at Boots. It's on special offer so at the moment it's £4.65 instead being £6...

St Tropez Self Tan
Advantages: Great colour and very even colour
Disadvantages: Takes time and alot of effort
...St Tropez is a great range that contains all the products needed for a fantastic natural looking all year round tan.
It claims to work instantly for a streak less application that will last for days.
It comes in an 8oz bottle with a handy pump action, which makes it a lot easier to use.
I paid £26.50 for this, which I know does seem like a lot.
I initially brought the St Tropez mousse however this brought me out in a rash so I had to discontinue using it. My friend used this lotion so I borrowed a little bit and I didn?t have the same reaction so decided to give it ago. I did love this at first because it brought me out in such a dark tan and I even had one done professionally, which cost £25, I thought after it was a waste of money because it really is easy enough to do it at home and get the same results.
This is in my...

Amazing Fake Tan
Advantages: Natural Deep Colour
Disadvantages: Price
...After using tonnes of high-street fake tans I was very apprehensive about trying Fake Bake but decided to give it a go. The first time I purchased Fake Bake was from www.lookfantastic.co.uk and was in a set which included Fake Bake original lotion, body scrub and body oil and I was left with not much change from £50.00!! I thought it must be something special at that sort of price.
I followed the instructions that came with it and started off by using the body polish all-over in the shower. The Body Polish is great it smells great too, it doesn't take long to apply and makes your skin feel and smell gorgeous.
I then followed this busy using Fake Bake Body Oil, which as smells great. The oil is sprayed on whilst the skin is still wet and rubbed in gently. I then towel tried my skin and prepared myself for the fake tan.
I used...

Self Tan Shimmering Lotion - Soltan Self Tan
Advantages: No streakes, golden shimmer, worth the cost
Disadvantages: Light smell
...This product is fantastic. I have tried eco tan, st tropez (far to orange) and all with the same results. I am fair to freckly so I do not want to put a self tan on and be orange the following day. This fake tan looks real, natural and properly sunkissed . It is easily absorbed, it contains a light shimmer so you can see where you have put it, it washes off the hands easily and leaves no marks between your fingers. If you have dry areas on knees or elbows it does not stain these. And you can put it on just before you go out and it looks like you have lightly dusted yourself in body glitter.
This is a must buy product. For extra effect I also used the Soltan Pre Self Tan exfoliator and you dont have to pre moisturise your body either before applying the fake tan!!...

Self-tanning sensation..
Advantages: realistic colour!!!
Disadvantages: definitely the price
...I am always a bit sceptical about self-tanning products. I have tried about three of them so far and always ended up with very uneven strange orangey or dark brown colour. On one occasion it was sooo bad that I couldn’t wear a skirt for a week because whatever I tried I just couldn’t wash it off!!!
I have decided to give this product a chance after seeing it in every fashion magazine on the market.
First of all I have to say it is expensive!! I paid £29.95 for my 240ml instant self-tanning mouse at Harrods. I think the actual sun tanning lotion is a bit cheaper. The main difference between the mousse and the lotion is the time it takes to dry and the colour of the product. The mousse is much easier to use!
1) It is very easy to apply!!! So the product gets top marks just for that. The mousse itself already has...

St Topez Self Tan lotion
Advantages: Bottle last a long time
Disadvantages: Tan can wash off very easily
...When using this product you had to start in stages by doing a small section at a time. I found it was easier starting with the legs and spraying the product onto my leg then using an old sponge to spread it around as this product stains your hands terribly. It gave you a very good overall tan, although you needed to be sure you had covered all areas. I thought I had covered my feet an ankles well until the product had completely dried and I realised I had patches. I feel this is a good tanning product and the tan is very natural, however it washes off very easily and rubs of when near clothing. The bottle lasts a long time but dont quite feel it is worth the money as there is better products out there which are less hassle....

Natural Looking Tan - Finally!
Advantages: Looks great, easy to use, even colour.
Disadvantages: Can be a little messy
...of a special blend of fruit-acids with a dihydroxy-complex that creates this natural tanning lotion. It is not tested on animals as it contains no harmful ingredients that would require extensive animal testing (Great!) .

Before doing anything make sure that you are wearing gloves. These are provided, but your should be able to get suitable gloves from pretty much anywhere.
You must also wash, exfoliate, and moisturise beforehand (Day before is best - moisturise really really well), like with all other self tanning products, if you want to achieve the best results.
I tend to begin applying mine after a shower, again moisturising well. Once you are dry, begin applying the lotion, covering all areas (this is essential as it is hard to tell when is properly covered). On areas that you want...

The best self tan around? I beg to disagree!
Advantages: Easy to see where you're applying it, quick drying.
Disadvantages: Obvious FAKE tan, messy application, too expensive.
...I bought St Tropez Self Tan Lotion, after reading many reviews swearing that it was the best self tan product they had ever used. I was excited that finally, I might be able to have a natural, flawless tan instead of a patchy orange disappointment.
St Tropez Self Tan Lotion turned out to produce the latter result.
I shaved my legs the day before, exfoliated in the morning (especially my knees, wrists, hands, ankles, feet), moisturised about 3 hours before, and then applied the product using gloves and mixing with a small amount of moisturiser around my ankles, knees, feet, elbows, wrists, hands. It took a long time to apply, because even though I could see where I was putting it, the self tan didn't seem to want to stay on, I didn't even rub it in, but it started clumping together and then drying leaving some of that area white...

St Tropez Self-Tan Mousse
Advantages: Easy to apply, even coverage, no streaks, won't make you go orange
Disadvantages: May make you smell a bit like a stale biscuit for a few days after application
...than £2 so save your pennies on all the advertised application products as the cheaper versions serve exactly the same purpose. Alternatively Boots do a self tan mitt for about £3.50 and St Tropez latex gloves 5 pairs for £2.50 so you can still get the same products if you don't have a hardware store near you.
So now onto the tanning itself. Ensure you have plenty of time and that you're not in a hurry when applying your tan. If you're planning to wear it for an event or night out then it's worth doing you're tanning at least the evening before, if not longer where possible, for reasons I will explain a bit later. Ensure you shake the mousse bottle well before application. If you do it correctly then it should start off as a liquid then froth up until you can barely hear anything being shaken in the bottle. One or 2 pumps of the mousse...

Fake Bake - The best fake tan out there!
Advantages: AMAZING COLOUR! No smell, Easy to apply, Long lasting
Disadvantages: Can be a little costly
...Well what can I say, I am one of those girls who hates being pale! Call me what you like tanorexic, tan tastic whatever, all i know is i like a tan even in december!
I have tried and tested so many products from Xen Tan all the way to Johnsons holiday skin. Until one day I was told by a friend to try Fake Bake and that they have read that all the celebritys have used it. So I thought, why not?
I ordered a bottle off Ebay (Only about £15 inc p&p) in a few days it came and I couldnt wait to try it! Its a brown bottle with gold writing on it. It says to exfoliate and to top it up every week.
How to apply Fake Bake properly:
First EXFOLIATE EXFOLIATE EXFOLIATE! If you don't do this you are just putting tan onto dead skin cells which means it is prone to come off alot quicker and not be even. ALWAYS exfoliate before you shave...
