Somerset Maugham. The first, 'The Ant and the Grasshopper' concerns the trials and tribulations a ne'er-do-well brother, Tom Ramsey (Nigel Patrick), puts his prim-and-proper businessman brother, George Ramsey (Roland Culver) through. The escapades that drive George to absolute distraction eventually wins the hand of the world's third richest girl, Margaret Vyne), for shiftless Tom; 'Winter Cruise' finds the crew of a cargo boat becoming unglued by the endless chatter of a spinster passenger named Miss Reid (Kay Walsh.) In a desperate attempt to silence the prattling busybody, the ship's officers browbeat a French steward, Pierre (Jacques Francois) into making love to her. ...A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to have a wedding to go to in Wells, Somerset. I'd never been to Wells before and I was impressed with what a lovely place it was. Not only does it boast a beautiful cathedral, it also has a very impressive bishop's keep surrounded by a mote.
Prices and Booking
As the wedding was quite early in the morning we decided to go down the night before...
Advantages: Good location, clean and well maintained. Modern communal areas, spacious Disadvantages: Dated rooms, disappointing breakfast on second day, not cheap
...and the selection was a tad more concise (but they still had my favourite choco balls). It was a Saturday morning, so I think the hotel would be quieter as it seems a more business orientated hotel. However, on this second morning things went missing - I had to chase up the staff to top up the juice, bring more cereal bowls and then replace the empty milk, so I was a lot less impressed this time round.

...there so I used my sat-nav which got me right to the door. If you're driving too, you'll be happy to know there is plenty on street parking right outside the hotel and all along Hermitage Place which is where the hotel lives. If you are getting a train in, the taxi fare from Princes Street is just under £8 and you can get the number 21 and 25 busses directly to the door of the hotel for the princely...
