Reviews of songs of innocence
Pure poetry and engaging engravings
Review of Songs Of Innocence and Experience - William Blake by
MAFARRIMOND
Advantages: Incredible engravings and touching poetry
Disadvantages: None whatsoever.
...No words can do justice to Blake and his poetry. His apparently simple compositions, that comprise Songs of Innocence and Experience, contain so much spiritual meaning. There are very few books that can touch you quite as much.
Blake's Songs of Innocence and Experience (1794) juxtapose the innocent, pastoral world of childhood against an adult world of corruption and repression.
Many of the poems fall into pairs, so that the same situation or problem is seen through the eyes of innocence first and then experience. The collection as a whole explores the value and limitations of two different perspectives on the world. The relationship being indicated either by a common title such as "Holy Thursday," "The Chimney Sweeper," and "Nurse's Song," or by contrasting titles such as "Infant Joy" and "Infant Sorrow."
There are 18 poems...

Delta Goodrem's little showcase...
Review of Delta Goodrem - Innocent Eyes DVD by
dessertgirl09
Advantages: She has talent, originality and is not Britney Spears.
Disadvantages: She sings off-key live. Should she be forgiven?
...Now, Delta Goodrem is one fantastic piano composer, singer songwriter but she needs some polishing on her live vocals. In this DVD, which i own, she performs 8 of her songs found on the album Innocent Eyes. The starter is a song called "Will You Fall For Me", a gentle short gentle piece to leave the crowd begging for more was a good choice of song for the first song of the day. Playing with a live band for the song "Predictable", Delta went off key so badly, either because she didnt warm her voice enough or she couldn't hear herself as the drummer seemed a bit too enthusiastic to go hard rock on the soft rock/jazzy number. With people screaming "Lost Without You" all the time, Delta finally obliges by performing good enough to redeem herself after "predictable". "Lost Without You" was quite beautifully sung with a bit of modifications...

Born to touch the world with her Innocent Eyes...
Review of Innocent Eyes - Delta Goodrem by
dessertgirl09
Advantages: Very listenable pop that doesn't bleed your ears.
Disadvantages: You're in to full-on pop.
...simple songs out there. Armed with killer hooks, Lost Without You is an amazing modern love song no one can stop singing to.
More beautiful piano pieces can be heard like Innocent Eyes, Not Me Not I, Will You Fall For Me. If you love the calming and emotional mood piano music takes you to, these are the tracks for you.
Well, enough of the slowies, Delta is also versatile in mid-tempo tracks such as Throw It Away, My Big Mistake and the rockier slightly jazz influenced, Predictable.
And well, you can't forget the beautiful ballad, Butterfly, which are the favourite of many Delta Goodrem's fans.
Innocent Eyes is one classic album not to be missed. It is the sort of album that will never go out of style and that you can listen to it over and over again. Let Delta Goodrem's beautiful voice transport you to a land where you see everything...

Innocent Victim
Review of Innocent Victim - Uriah Heep by
vitaliy_heep
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Beautiful album with beautiful cover art ,but not as good as its predecessor, Firefly. There are couple if weak track (for example "Keep on ridin'","Flyin' high" etc. The song writing was becoming more and more commercial and less and less progressive. John's voice is not nearly as strong and often flat. Still there are many highlights, including the greatest riff in rock history! It is such songs as ,beautiful and soft “Illusion” .Famous Hensley hit – “Free me”.One more beautiful “The Dance” with some reggae elements. Wonderful and strong epic ”Choices”.Good rock and roll "Free'n'easy",And funky "Roller"....

A very good Indian Percussion Album
Review of Rhythmscape - Bikram Ghosh by
supermanj
Advantages: Great songs, talented, a lot of variety
Disadvantages: Some tracks aren't as strong as others
...A great instrumental album with a lot of variety. Actually a great piece of percussion by a master in the trade. Bikram Ghosh is the son of tabla maestro Pt Sankar Ghosh and the undoubted quality of this ground breaking percussion is there for all to see.
The album starts off with a track called "Rhythm Speaks" which gradually builds up in feeling and emotion leading to a great piece of percussion and a great opening for this album by the tabla played for Anoushka Shankar. Other highlights are "The Language of Innocence" - a feel good song with all the vocals done by young, and very talented children with beautiful innocent voices. "Gangotri" is my favorite track on the album - taking 8 minutes of slow careful build up for the scintillating climax. Dirctly after this is "Tandav" with a reed flute piece within it that takes you directly...

genius collection good starting point
Review of Songs Of Innocence and Experience - William Blake by
maiamounsher
Advantages: insightful visionary inspired
Disadvantages: cryptic if you're thick
...Songs of Innocence and of Experience is an enlightening piece of literature. Blake is a visionary well ahead of his times in his opinions on sexism, racism, individualism, religion, free love, sexuality, equality, unity etc etc. Blake was inspired by the old testement and christianity but his views were so radical and controversial that he was ostriced by the christians of his time. Songs of innocence and of experience reflects this in many of its poems (songs). Have you ever read the tyger? (tiger tiger burning bright...) or the lamb (little lamb who made thee...) or heard the hymn jerusalem? all blake. all in this book. so buy it and look deeper into what he actually meant - he was a very cryptic man and although his songs had their lullaby appeal they also had something very deep and very serious to say.
if you've ever wondered about...

I Went to The Garden of Love
Review of Songs Of Innocence and Experience - William Blake by
Kirsty1
Advantages: Wonderfully concise, evocative, meaningful...
Disadvantages: Not fully representative of all Blake's work...
...-hitters that speak to the grand themes of eternity and damnation, to religion and to false gods, and blast away existing tenets with confidence.
Yet “Songs of Innocence and Experience” (1794) are now far better known, most probably because they are more immediately accessible and can be read on many different levels and can therefore be taught at a variety of different years in schools.
**************************************************************************************************
The subtitle to “Songs of Innocence and Experience” is “Showing the Two Contrary States of the Human Soul” and if you can keep this simple phrase in mind as you work through the nineteen “Songs of Innocence” and the twenty-eight “Songs of Experience” then you can’t go far wrong. The important word is “Contrary”, for Blake does not offer us these two states in isolation...

This is fab!
Review of Innocent Eyes - Delta Goodrem by
ames123
Advantages: Fantastic album
Disadvantages: Nothing really except for no song words
...After Delta left Neighbours after playing Nina she released this wonderful album. Sony signed her up when she was a ‘crazy 15-year-old’ in her own words. Sony must of thought she had talent to sign her up at that age and they weren’t wrong! She has written many of the songs and co-produced a few with Gary Barlow (ex Take That). Many ex-soap stars turned singers produce average albums who you never hear of again, but Delta really has a talent and has released her second album recently.
In my opinion all of the songs are good especially the first 5 and last one.
There are many ballads and love songs with a few fast, upbeat, tempo ones. My favourite song is probably tract 2, Innocent Eyes. Many of the tracks which she has not released are still really good and are worthy of being released.
The track list is as follows:
1. Born to try...

Innocent Joel
Review of Innocent Man, An [Remastered] - Billy Joel by
nigelpm
Advantages: A classic
Disadvantages: a few slightly weaker tracks
...In my opinion this is Billy Joel's best album. 'An Innocent Man' is Billy Joel's tribute to a genre of music that he constantly speaks of with affection; the doo-wop and soul music of his youth in New York City. It has a big 50's feel to it with fresh sounds.
The album starts off with 'Easy Money', a nice rock track which was also the title song to the 1983 movie starring Rodney Dangerfield.
'An Innocent Man' and 'The Longest Time' are 'old skool' R&B.
'This Night' is a ballad that is beautifully constructed.
'Tell Her About It' and 'Uptown Girl' were both hits that are played at clubs throughout the land and are great party tracks.
'Careless Talk' is funky and upbeat.
"Christie Lee" is a piano/saxophone/drums combo which has great lyrics but is still possibly | | |
