Sony NW-A1000: Small, stylish,

Advantages: Size, style, quality, battery life.
Disadvantages: Software

...I had my eyes on this player for a long time, and finally decided to treat myself and buy one. I was not disappointed! With the NW-A1000, Sony have managed to create a small, incredibly portable and stylish player, with great sound quality and superb battery life. The design is quite unique - when turned off, the intuitive screen blends into the player. The first issue on most people's minds with regards to this model is whether it is worth paying a little bit extra and buying the size up, with a 20GB hard drive. Another member of my family had this model, and I personally found it a little too large in dimensions. It didn't slip into my pocket easily, and was bulkier in my hands than my smaller 6GB model. Even though the machine is "only" 6GB, it can cope with more songs than a standard player due to the ATRAC compression...

Sony 6Gb NWA1000 MP3 Player

Advantages: Trusted brand, durable quality product
Disadvantages: Software can be a pain to use.

...The Sony Walkman NW-A1000 6Gb MP3 player is very user friendly. It has more than enough space to store most of the music you would need for the car or gym. As Sony were the original personal music centre creators, its kind of ironic that they have made a good, usable music player. The player itself is more blue in colour rather than violet (although the earphones definately look violet - I've replaced them for other Sony earphones) You need Sonic stage software rather than the 'Connect' software that it comes with, this can sometimes struggle to convert MP3s onto the player which is a pain. It means that on occasion, because the mp3 format isn't recognised (God Knows Why?) you need to burn the files onto a CD, then import the CD onto the music library for placing onto the MP3 Player. I've not had any issues with the device...

...I actually bought this player at Christmas for my son, and I have to say, I wanted to keep it for myself. The players come in several trendy colours Black, Silver, Pink and Violet. The violet one being the one I have. The look and feel of the player is the thing that draws you to it, as it just seems to give you that quality feeling, as it comfortably sits into the palm of your hand. The sound quality is excellent, although it is restricted,and the 6 GB space is more than enough for anyone. The 6 GB is actually a small hard disk as opposed to solid state or flash. The imformation display seems to be part of the players actual casing, as the displayed information seems to radiate through the surface. Which again adds to the quality feel. Advantages: Great functions, east to use, looks and feels good and produces great images.
Disadvantages: The kit lens isnt the best and no live view may bother some.

...For a while now I have been receiving private mails on both Dooyoo and on Ciao asking me to review the Sony A200 DSLR camera, this is because I have made mention of it in a few of my camera reviews lately but never actually got down to doing a full write up on it. Advantages: Great features for low price, Great value for money
Disadvantages: Smaller range of Lenses than competitors

...noticeable and is not a big enough reason to shy away from the Canon entry range, discussed later. Images will be sharp with slightly more chromatic abrasion near the edges than normal but this can only be expected from a camera as cheap as this. Extra lenses are available from Sony as well as many other stockists usual to photography. These range from superb fisheye kits, all the way through the super-wide angles up to extra telephotos. The range is not as complete as longer established Nikon or Canon ranges but definitely fairs up well, also given that old Minolta lenses as well as most modern Tamron and sigma lenses come with the alpha mount.
