When you purchase the sony 2GB micro vault you will find a file compressor and decompressor ready installed on the memory stick. ...I bought this mp3 player about 2 years ago and overall it has been a good experience. (+) Excellent battery life, was a good sized hard drive but now 20gb seems quite small, bear in mind that only music can be played so no big movies taking up space. Quick to be charged. Replaceable battery so if it does ever run out you can whack in a spare. (-) No iPod in terms of looks. Two Tone display so pretty basic. Sonic Stage is absolutely dire, sony really need to sort it out to compete with apple. But once the music is on the device its all fine. If you have a lot of music then it can become quite difficult to search through it. Definitely worth the money 2 years ago. Now you can do better. MP3 players are always compared to iPods and although its good, its not good enough to replace the iPod. Try harder sony.... Read review

...This is a very basic mp3 player it will do the job and the sound quality is good, to charge it up you need to plug it directly into the usb port of your computer and it does charge in about 20mins which will last for about 30 hours, It is very small which helps when in your pocket but because it is so small the screen is small and hard to read what songs are on there, it is very easy to use you just scroll through the songs or albums with one button and just stop when you get to the song you want, I think there is better out there with more functions for the same money it is basically just an mp3 player and could do with time/date settings or something like that... ...This laptop was given to me as a gift and came full equipped with Windows XP professional loaded onto it. On the first start up the laptop took quite a long time to get everything registered (about 20Mins), and after we were able to login to the unit. There is a finger print reader built in to it, which saves you having to type your username and pasword everytime you want to login. It is very compact and very lightweight. It comes with 3 USB 2.0 ports, and 512MB ram. I have upgraded this to 1.5Gb now and can say that is was childs' play. The extra GB only cost £20 including delivery from ebuyer.com. The Multi format DVD RW drive is removable and can be replaced with a blank panel (provided) to allow you to get it even lighter or to put in another battery. ...This is my second hard drive. The first one I bought was a sony vaio that I bought off of ebay - a portable 120GB hard disk drive from the far east. It started giving me disk read and write errors about three to four months after I bought it. Moral of the story, buy from a reputable manufacturer and seller. So I bought this from Amazon co uk, who are by far a superior online seller. Prices have come down and i managed to get this for £60 including free delivery. The drive is compact, not portable. It needs to be plugged into mains as well as the computer which makes it less portable, but it is so quiet I can't even hear that is switched on even when it is writing or reading. With 80 GB iPods on the market some people may think 1 GB of memory is no a lot. If you want better memory then you can buy a 2 GB version, which come in black. I have never had any problems with my Sony mp3 player. The sound quality is very high and the mp3 player its self is very durable. ...It took me a long time to decide between this and the apple ipod. I knew a lot about the ipod (good advertising) but not much about the sony. I checked both out on the internet and the sony was miles better. The sound quality on the sony is excellent. Even on Atrac3plus format (which is the lowest quality) you cant tell the differance between that and a cd. At this recording level is where you get the 13,000 songs and the 30 hours battery life. Some people have moaned about the sound quality, i personally can't tell the difference. The only drawback is the speed which it takes to convert a cd into sonicstage (the software supplied with the player). But on the upside the software does have a program which automatically names the songs so you dont have to. I love the look of the and size of the player, miles smaller than the equivilent... ...The iPod Photo is brilliant! Ok, its expensive at £429. But the choice depends on whether you want a cheap imitation or the real thing. As for which iPod model, that really depends on whether you want 60 gigabytes of storage or whether 20 is enough. Initially I was going to buy the 40gb Photo model (£359) but ended up with the 60. I don't think there is any difference apart from the storage size. The 60 gb model can hold 15,000 songs or 25,000 pictures. The battery life is 15 hours The iPod features a crystal clear 2-inch LCD display which is why i chose the Photo model. When I compare my colour screen to that of my friend's 20gb iPod i find myself thinking how glad i am i went for the Photo. The iPod Photo itself is chunkier than the 20gb models (0.75" thick) but it feels solid and tough. Despite this the casing is easily scratched... Read review

...Creative attracted me for the primary reason of battery life as with a busy schedule and often using Londons tube system last thing i wanted was a dead battery. Sure they all have the 20GB storage and weight or what not but after giving up a 56 hour mini disc had to be the zen or the sony hd as ipods lame 10 hours doesnt stand upto the 24 and 30 hours of the zen or sony. Another option is the ability to use sony style ear plugs or headphones with a dual sexuality pin. the sound quality is excellent however the device has only one main drawback in its size but slip it in your pocket and you will soon forget about that. your not buying the zen to be stylish but functional as it is far more efficient than the ipod however i do find the sony hd to be alot more attractive to lok at.
