Sony BlueRay player BDP-350

Advantages: price, performance, design

Sony BDP-S350 don't waste your money on cheeper alternatives.

Advantages: Becoming affordable, Very impressive picture quality.

...I bought this Blu Ray player as I wanted to watch DVD's in the same glorious HD as SKY HD, but also because I wanted an upscaling DVD player for non-HD DVD's. I had previously tried a Philips upscaling player, but was very disappointed with the performance, which was barely better than my standard, non-HDMI DVD player, so took it back for a refund. The Sony BDP-S350 however is a totally different animal. Firstly, It looks good, with it's metallic blue front, which automatically flips open and closed when a disc is inserted or ejected. Boot-up time on some Blu Ray players has been an issue, but on the Sony it is as quick as any standard player. Connections are via an HDMI cable, there is also a optical output for excellent Dolby 5.1, via the necessary hardware. Blu Ray picture quality is tremendous, possibly slightly better than SKY...

Advantages: Stylish, great sound, cheap, easy to use

Very light weight (70g), stylish, especially if you have one in "ice blue" or "white", some networks have a limited choice of colours so look around (I paid extra to own it in white and then paid 10 pounds more to get it unlocked). It may not be the phone for a tech wiz, who would probably prefer w810i but is a great little accessory for people who like stylish, great music and easy to use products. Sony quality for little money

Advantages: Upscales DVDs to 1080p, multi-format recording, lot of features, good value for money
Disadvantages: No digital tuner or cables, set up complicated, picture distortion problem, read review for others

Advantages: Great functions, east to use, looks and feels good and produces great images.
Disadvantages: The kit lens isnt the best and no live view may bother some.
