...camera is compatible with the old Minolta lenses - which are cheaper and often better that the Sony ones (for more advanced photos). The manual settings are easy to use, however are a little rigid, and I find do not give you the same flexibility as some of the more expensive digital SLRs or manual ones (Cannon ones are very good for this), however for the price of the Sony, the settings are reasonable. Down to the most important point - image quality. I cannot really find fault with this at all, and this is comparable to some of the much more expensive Canon and Pentax SLRs! The lens provided with this camera is not the best for very close up and macro photography, however it tends to perform very well for any other shots - and there is always the option to change to a better lens for these purposes. Sony a200 - one of the best budget dslr cameras available.

Advantages: Great battery life, comfortable in the hands, picture quality.
Disadvantages: Flimsy memory card and remote release slot.

...I was looking for a new camera and had a budget of around £300. Compact cameras such as the Panasonic Lumix TZ and the Nikon Coolpix P80 kept coming up, as did the Nikon D40 and the Sony a200. I decided to go for the Sony in the end as it was a name I trusted and I had used a compact Sony in the past. The quality difference between my old compact camera and this camera was incredible. Shots always seem to come out crisp and clear, whatever lighting conditions the picture was taken in. Battery life is great and the percentage meter of battery power remaining is invaluable. The camera fits well in large hands, and all of the buttons and dials on the camera are comfortably positioned.   Another 5 star Sony!

Advantages: Great functions, east to use, looks and feels good and produces great images.
Disadvantages: The kit lens isnt the best and no live view may bother some.

...For a while now I have been receiving private mails on both Dooyoo and on Ciao asking me to review the Sony A200 DSLR camera, this is because I have made mention of it in a few of my camera reviews lately but never actually got down to doing a full write up on it. I haven't reviewed it previously for a couple of reasons mainly though that I had up until now only had a few hours experience of the unit. Now with a whole weeks shooting with it under my belt and over 1000 pictures taken with it I feel much more capable of writing a thorough review on it. Advantages: Light, Fast, Looks nice, Reliable, Value.
Disadvantages: Doesn't have a built in webcam or Bluetooth connectivity.

...on the laptop feels sturdy and safe and like it will last, which is reassuring as some of the other laptops felt like they would break if you opened it too quickly. I tested the weight of it in the shops and found that it was also lighter than most other laptops. The Toshiba A200 range was also quite a high performance laptop when I was using it. I managed to benchmark the laptops effectively by using the inbuilt feature inside Windows Vista, where it can show you a rating of how well your computer performance, a score out of 10. It is called a windows experience score and is quite comprehensive as it tests the performance of the processor, ram, video / graphics card, hard drive space, and can give a clear breakdown on where the computer is weakest. A Very Good Choice DSLR And For The Price Cannot Be Bettered

Advantages: Great pictures, great price with lots of old quality kit to be had for it a not a lot of money
Disadvantages: Not the build quality I was expecting and a few setting need tweaking.

Ditch the point & click for only a few quid more

Advantages: Budget Cost but Brilliant Photographs
Disadvantages: No "Live View" on Screen

Other manufacturers including, Canon & Nikon have also produced very similiar beginner SLR models to the A200, but when I checked the A200 was far keener on price and seemed to fare best in photographic magazine reviews also. In short this camera is simply unbelievable value for money, given it's high quality results and advanced capability. Many lenses, such as compatible zoom & telephoto are available with it too for a lifetime of varied photographs. Keep your memories crisp and clear with Sony. Buy and enjoy. An excellent camera for everyone.

Advantages: Great pictures, incredible feature set, good zoom range, the price
Disadvantages: Soft images from the kit lens

...The Sony Alpha 200 is an excellent entry level DSLR available at very attractive prices. It offers a very good set of features that I will go over in more detail, later in the review. This kit includes the 18-70mm lens which gives it a much larger zoom range over it's competitors (both Canon and Nikon give their entry models an 18-55mm, about a 3x zoom), for a much lower price. THE BODY The camera's body is robust and solid- however it does sport a 'plasticy' feel to it. The Sony A200 is also slightly larger than the Nikon and Canon entry level models- whether that's a positive or a negative depends on your needs (i.e. do you like have a lot of space on the camera body? Do you have large hands etc.). The screen is sharp and clear, it also rotates depending on the orientation of the camera, so if you hold the camera sideways...
