Reviews of sony camcorder
A must have for all you budding movie makers
Review of Sony DCR-TRV50E by
JamesBrock
Advantages: Great ease of use.
Disadvantages: Expensive (But worth it).
...the camera needs to be able to transfer footage and pictures from the camera to my email account.
It has a bottom loading cassette which can at times be quite annoying. But you get use to it after a while.
Lastly the USB Streaming WebCam capabillitys require a windows operating system.
The Sony DCR-TRV50E has many features to it these include:
3.5in Touch Screen LCD panel. This i found to be very helpful and is a cool way to show off to your mates.
10x optical zoom (120xDigital zoom). The digital zoom can also be disabled if the user requires it to be.
DV-in/out.
AV-in-out.
PC Software and digital program editing to name but a few of the features.
The Sony DCR-TRV50E is priced at around £1400 which may seem to be quite expensive but with all of its features and ease of use i belives this to be one of the best camcorders of its time...

A Good Camcorder for First time buyer
Review of Panasonic NV GS35 by
paulten
Advantages: Silvery, Compact, DV-input, good charger user friendly panel
Disadvantages: Rigid view finder, Poor software
...I bought this camcorder in last christmas to take videos for my little daughter. During that time, I have a choice to swtich to hard-drive based camcorder or ordinary MiniDV camcorder. However the price difference is so ridiculously huge. I was persuaded to take this Camcorder with the fantastic freebies.
After using it for a month, I can confidently said that it is really value for money, as it got all the feature you want, consider an DV-input, a good separate charger instead of using your camcorder as a charger like other brand. If you have a spare battery like me, you will be able to use the camcorder eventhough your first battery runout without buying a separate charger like other brand.
The quality of the picture is excellent in daylight, however, it has no zero lux capability like the Sony Camcorder. If you swtich on the light...

Sony TRV320 is excellent value
Review of Sony Handycam DCR TRV320 by
big-bids.com
Advantages: Compact, Easy to use, Excellent value for money
Disadvantages: Battery life is too short
...I purchsed the Sony TRV320 last May as I wanted to take pictures of local streams and rivers for a website I was building about Scotland.
The most important thing I found and what I would recommend to anyone looking to buy a camcorder is to read a few camcorder magazines first to make sure you buy one that suits your needs. Also look at all the adverts in the magazine to check for differences in prices. I found one shop in England advertising the TRV320 for £650 and another one two pages further on offering the same spec for only £550 - I think you will know which company I chose - That was in the same magazine just two pages of a difference, imagine if I had ran and bought the camcorder after seeing just the first advert, I would have lost £100!
Anyway, the camcorder came with the LCD screen and the optional memory stick which means...

Better than TRV PC-100
Review of Sony DCR-TRV20E by
Wardenc
Advantages: Can record Analog & Digitial in also plays NTSC DV
Disadvantages: None
...If you are considering the trendy MegaPixel PC-100 DV camcorder from Sony with it's 'upright' design then also consider the TRV-20E. They are in fact the 'same camera' - the TRV20E has extra digital editing features and the only real difference is the TRV20E's more traditional camcorder design. I found that you need to have tiny hands to get a proper grip on the PC-100. Also, the camera has the ability to record analogue and digital signals in. This means you can use the wire (included) to attach to your old camcorder & re-record the tapes with minimal loss of quality....

The Truth
Review of Sony Handycam DCR PC350E by
marcellep
Advantages: Ease of use, Size, Weight
Disadvantages: Optical Zoom, Not Bag
...I bought this camera a few months ago and think its great and easy to use.
Description: The Sony Handycam DCR PC350E is a MiniDV-based, ultra-compact camcorder. Compared to other ultra-compact camcorders on the market,
Plus Points: Has electronic (Super steady shot) stabilization. Supports manual focus, which helps savvy users to shoot in hard-to-focus situations, Ease of use, size,
Not So Good: Has only a 10x optical zoom, No bag with the camera, However you can pick these up cheap enough.
Suitability: An ultra-compact camcorder, suited for on-the-fly shooting. This camcorder can take 2 megapixel photos, which may adequately substitute for a dedicated camera. This camera's built-in light will facilitate shooting in dim environments.
Value: Excellent value for money, this item is great, I would recommend it to anyone

power in a small package
Review of Sony NP FP50 Lithium Ion by
phil8561
Advantages: more power than the np fp30, size and weight, no memory affect
Disadvantages: none really
...Well there's not a lot one can really write about as a review for a rechargeable battery but here goes, this battery is oblong in shape black or grey in colour 7.4volts with a capacity of 800mAH and powers things like a camcorder which is the item i have been using this battery with for about 2 1/2 years now and it has never let me down in any way.
The camcorder that i have is a DCR-TRV340E by Sony and this battery gives me at least a days worth of video use if i'm using the LCD screen on the camera if i dont use the screen then it's about 2 days worth of non continuious use out of it. With it being a sony battery it does have the ability to show how much battery life is left in mins on the screen
Charging wise this can be charged on the camcorder which takes about 3 to 5 hours to fully charge.
Also with the camcorder that i have i...

does everything you dream of
Review of Sony Handycam DCR PC5 by
annette_tr9
Advantages: brilliant picture quality, stills capable, very small
Disadvantages: expensive accessories
...We bought this camcorder especially for our holiday in Florida, we needed one that was small so that we could take it on rollercoasters etc. and be able to hold onto it! The Sony DCRPC5 was the smallest we could find.
For £1000 (from www.unbeatable.co.uk) this camcorder has everything. Great zoom, clear picture, stills capable and of course it’s really tiny. My favourite part of the camcorder is the still picture facility. You can store digital photos (like a normal digital camera) on a memory stick which is supplied with the camera. They can then be downloaded to a PC from the camcorder. All of the leads and software are supplied with the camcorder to be able to link to a PC so you won’t have to spend hours looking for compatible software. Bigger memory sticks can be bought but I haven’t looked into the price...

Very handy camcorder
Review of Sony Handycam DCR DVD105E by
supermacc
Advantages: looks, price, play directly into DVD good sound good imagine
Disadvantages: when using the LCD screen turned 180 degrees no picture displayed into the viewfinder
...I have bought this camcorder because my 'old' one (3 years) sadly broke just when our second child was born. I decided to buy a new one and chose a Sony DVD 105. I can now say that I was lucky that my old camcorder broke even if I had to spend 260 odd pounds. This camcorder it is really cool and I liked it as I saw it. The most attractive feature is the infrared option for night shots so even with out the light (not included) you can still shoot in the dark, although the image loses a bit but that is ok because you are in the dark. I like the fact that it can play movies directly into my DVD player. The only thing I don't like is the possibility of using the viewfinder while the LCD is rotated 180 degrees. The camcorder came with a program called Nero to make copies of your movie and/or to transfer the movie form an 8cm DVD into the big...

A great prosumer HD Camcorder
Review of Sony Handycam HDR-SR7E by
6heads
Advantages: Quality, HDD rather than tape, zoom
Disadvantages: cost, fiddly touch screen
...A high end HD camcorder that provides stunning quality HD to a 60gb HDD so it is easy to transfer all the captured videos to a pc.
The camcorder is in a glossy black casing covered with all the buttons you might expect on a camcorder, zoom, record, pause and so on. A beautifully designed camcorder with easy to use bright lcd screen.
The camcorder uses the latest HD media format AVCHD which is a compressed media format to make file sizes smaller. This is great as it means you can use HDD's rather than tape. On the downside however very little Video Editing PC software supports the format, but since the format is becoming popular this should change soon.
As I have come to expect from the countless HD camcorders I have come to own over the years the build quality is superb. Very ergonomic and easy to use, although the touch screen LCD may...

I saved 500 pounds on a camcorder......
Review of go2camcorder.co.uk by
Connoisseur_Haggler
Advantages: cheap prices, upto 60% savings against High Street prices, fast website, EXCELLENT & helpful customer services
Disadvantages: as of 2004 the site doesn't exist! (see update)
...! No gimmicks, no downloading time, just straightforward, fast and to the point. I couldn’t ask for anything more in a e-tailer site!
Navigation -
There’s no messing around on this web site design; you don’t have to scroll through series of sub-menu’s to find what you want here! Everything is within easy reach. The home page shows a list of current popular electronics products ranging from the latest camcorders to the most popular mini disc players such as the Sony MZ-R 700, or even the lowest price multi-region DVD player for around £130. If you don’t see what you want on the home page there is a side task panel on the left that allows you to find the product of your choice; be it Accessories, Camcorder, DVD, Hi-Fi, or Vision (which incidentally is TV’s, not photography). There are some slightly different phrases used as it’s a European site...
