...*Introduction* My Dad bought this Sony Handycam a while ago now. It has come in very handy for a number of things, everything from recording family occasions to some of my school projects. We have also let friends borrow the camera to record their parties and take abroad with them. Everyone who has used it has said it is a wonderful video camera and that they would definetly consider buying one, or something fairly similar, of their own in the future. I will be honest with you the reader and declare that my knowledge and know-how when it comes to video recorders/camcorders is very limited. If you give me any other electronics product and ask me to use it or tell you about it, I won't have too many problems. Sony Handycam DCR TRV245 - a good camcorder

Advantages: Looks modern, good for it's age, many features, good battery life
Disadvantages: Can now get much better for much less! A bit big in todays world

...I brought this about 4 or 5 years ago, so it is getting fairly old now. I brought it from Agros, at £300, which, at the time, was a good deal, however, you now see camcorders 10 times better, smaller, and lighter, for a much lower price. Damn, if only they were that cheap back then... But oh well. The camcorder's looks is pretty nice, looks modern (even though now fairly old), and quite stylish. In it's time, it was fairly small and light, but obviously now you'll get lighter and smaller, but it is fine to take around anyway, and in the package I brought it with, I got a case I can take it around in. Overall picture quality is fairly good, better than VHS, not quite DVD though! You can use you computer to put the video onto DVD, or use a DVD recorder, and you'll get a fair image quality. ...good for 6 x 4 prints. A Carl Zeiss lens is used which takes supports a 10x optical zoom and a 2.3-megapixel Sony ClearVid CMOS sensor. Still shots can be taken up to 4 million megapixel. The HDR-HC3E has a number of ports for displaying your recording direct to a TV. These include HDMI, component and S-Video. There's no video light, but there is a flash for still shots. It has a built-in stereo microphone but doesn't have a a jack for an external microphone. Beginners will find the HDR-HC3E very easy to use. Sony Camcorder Battery

...In the past two years I have bought 4 of these batteries. I love these batteries because Sony have made most of their camcorders compatible with this battery. This meant that when I got my new camcorder for Christmas this year I was then able to transfer my old battery for a back-up. I have bought so many of these batteries because I do a lot of sightseeing. I have also choose this battery over any other because it holds an extremely good charge. I had came across times when I was standing in front of a beautiful landmark and I had no battery charge. After that experience any holidays, or events I got to I always bring at least one spare, charged battery as well as my own. .... There's a variety of colours and sizes to choose from, and where the title should be situatied on the footage. It is relatively easy to transfer footage from tape to VHS. The cables just need to be plugged into the camera, then the cable into the back of the television, and when you press play it runs onto TV. Just press record with an empty VHS in the recorder and walllaaaa!! It is quite easy to make semi-professional projects on the camcorder without editing too. My friend and I made a number of silly little 'programmes' and shows without editing. They look quite good considering they haven't been edited, and it isn't exactly hard to do. The only problem is if you watch it all the way through and decide there's something you don't quite like, you can't go back and change it. Doing it like this is quite useful if you're just using...

...I suspect people may be surpised that I haven't included one of the main USP's (Unique Selling Point) as an advantage. This camcorder writes to mini-dvd's (-R/-RW) but thats not necessarily an advantage. I'll come back to that in a minute. Lets go through the good stuff first. The best thing is the widescreen mode. All TV's sold these days are widescreen and to be honest they have been widescreen for a number of years now so why manufactures have waited so long to release a camcorder with a widescreen mode is beyond me. However Sony have finally done it and its great. I now record footage and play it back on my TV in the correct proportions without any of that faffing about with changing the aspect mode on your TV. The HC19 is the budget model from sony, but that doesn't mea that the camera is less quality in anyway. Every sony camcorder includes a lens by Carl Ziess, one of the best lens manufacturers in world. This includes super night shot as on the more expensive cameras also.
