Advantages: Good battery time, easy to transport and use
Disadvantages: Poor reliability, started to skip after 2yrs despite anti-skip

...I purchased this quite a long time ago, prior to the mp3 craze. I wanted it to use on the school bus and the lengthy playback persuaded me to purchase it over other models. The design is quite nice, at the time it was the slimmest cd player and the metal ring on the lid is a nice touch. If you want to get the full 115 hours of battery life you need to attach a battery connecting pouch which hangs from the cd player ruining the design. If you use the internal battery you get roughly 41 hrs from it. The addition of a remote is quite useful and good to have as to buy it separately it's not cheap. Although there is anti-skip on the cd player I found that after a year or two on the school bus it did begin to skip and I'd have to hold the cd player at certain angles which definitely wasn't what I'd expected considering the price tag...

Sony DEJ955 CD Walkman

I've just tried these, and there is no problem at all, which is handy, as I'm slowly transferring my collection of vinyls onto CD, so the CDR playing is important to me. I’ve tried with both ‘Audio CDRs’ and the standard computer data CDRs. So long as there’s music on them, they play perfectly. Why bother with an iPOD?

Advantages: Awesome sound quality, lightweight, full information on wired remote, lightweight, high quality construction exceptional battery life..
Disadvantages: It needs to go louder(!), so-so suplied headphones

...I purchased the Sony EJ-2000 completly on spec after reading an article in a "Stuff" magazine. Despite all the searching, I could not find the EJ-2000 at any less than £139.95-which I eventually paid at my local branch of Dixons in Wolverhampton. Net providers were cheaper but most, such as Empire Direct, wanted to add a £10 delivery charge so the real cost difference was minimal-certainly not enough to warrant potential bother if the unit went wrong! It was at the top of my list because it could play all CD formats including CD-R/CD-RW etc and I was able to enjoy the use of my extensive CD collection in uncompressed quality. ...Sony are well known for the best quality products and ths dej615 cd player is no exception. I got this as a present from my mum for my christmas and am very pleased with it, the sound is great, even at high volume you can get crisp tunes as you go about your business.The unit did cost £89.99 but was from John Lewis so i'm sure you can get it cheaper elsewhere. You get a small unit that connects to the earphones that lets you change volume and song without having to rumage for the cd player. Also if you have to stop it too talk to someone it'll remember where you stopped so you can carry on listening where you finished of as long as you don't open the cd lid.The battery once fully charged will last aroung four hours, enough for anyone. I suppose it costs a bit more than others because it has 'jog proof...

Competent CD player

Advantages: Does what it says on the tin - plays CDs - and has a good battery life
Disadvantages: Shocking earphones; not very pretty.

..., the earphones provided with it are truly appalling - buy another set or use any you have hanging around (it's a standard connection). Anything is better than these ones. When I first used them I thought my CD had a fault - really tinny sound and cheap plastic material which doesn't fit your ears at all. It has the standard features - a couple of modes, hold button, automatic volume limiting system and so on. One thing you might want is a 'repeat all' function, which, if it does exist, I can't find - the modes just seem to be shuffle and repeat the track you're on. I'm not too bothered about this, but it's something to bear in mind if you would normally use it. If you just want a basic CD player, have got your own set of earphones, and aren't concerned with aesthetics, then this is perfect. Otherwise, get something else....

DEJ955 - So far, Sony good

...If you want style and have the money to pay out then the Sony DEJ955 is the thing to get. Sony has made this portable CD player the smallest and lightest around. It is made out of Aluminium, which makes it look stylish and very light. I have mine in silver but you can also get it in a purple colour. I pick silver as I found out that it can scratch easily which isn?t good when your paying out about £150 for it (the price has dropped slightly since I bought it, if interested then you should look at paying about £130 give or take some). The sound quality is amazing, as you would expect form Sony. When I bought it and opened up the box it came with everything, a funky charging cradle, the CD player itself, power adaptor, two Sony batteries, external AA battery holder, a case to put the CD player in, a set of earphones, a controller...
