Sony CDX-GT620U CD Radio MP3 USB Aux Car Stereo

Advantages: Great Design, Easy to use, good sound quality
Disadvantages: usb socket flap looks a bit flimbsy

...Good All-round head unit, Quick Install and Good Sound Quality My Lust for all things Sony continued when I had to replace my old Sony CDX-MP40 head unit. The old unit was exceptional and had lasted me 4-5 years so my expectations were high and so far I haven't beed dissappointed but I guess only another 5 years will show whether sonys have improved. But what I can say is as follows: Sound Quality - very good, stereo output is very crisp and the choice of equaliser options is better. Bass sounds better too and doesn't distort even at louder volumes. I found the chemical brothers best hits were a good test for this. Features are excellent and include MP3, CD, Radio, USB and Aux input for your ipod, flash drive or a good tip is to get one of those mini usb hard drives which you can copy hundreds of tracks onto. One other...

Sony CDX GT 420 U - Very Good All Round Head Unit

Advantages: Stylish, Plenty of Features and Good Sound Quality
Disadvantages: none so far

...Excellent All-round Head Unit I bought this Sony head unit for my partner exactly 1 year ago as a christmas present and I can only say that I made an excellent choice. I bought this model because I had already bought a sony for myself a few years earlier and it had lasted me a long time with no major problems. This model looks great in her Fiat dash board and I'm sure the stylish silver finish would look good in most other modern cars. The Sound quality is excellent, even at loud volumes where the top notes and the bass remains clear. You also have a selection of equaliser options to choose from. The choice of functions is good to and if you can use either the radio - FM/MW and LW or CD. There is also a usb input which can be used to play music directly from a usb stick. Alternatively you hav an aux input at the front...

Sony CDX-M 850 MP

Advantages: great sound quality
Disadvantages: not a face off

...Sony CDX-M 850 MP car radio/cd player i'm on my third one of these due to my previous systems being stolen. which is not great as these still hold there price which is not that cheap.but you do get your moneys worth. the radio tuner as rds which is great for finding the stations.but i mainly use the cd player so can't really say much about the radio funtions.but you can preset your favourite radios stations which is handy so you don't have to search for stations all the time.you have three bands which are fm, mw and lw. the cd player plays one cd at a time. it plays copys which is great so you don't wreck your best cds in the car as you always end up with your cds being wrecked.it as cd text display so you know what you are listening to. you have the cd changer control funtion so you can add a cd changer. the sound is...

Sony cdx 200 head unit

Advantages: Cheap, Easy to use and does what is says on the tin
Disadvantages: Can look too understated

...I have the Sony head unit installed into my Peugeot 106 and have hooked up a set of pioneer fronts components and an external amplifier and it copes very well indeed. The basic spec is 4 x 50 watts output with 32 presets and the usual face off facility, also 1 pre-out for either a sub or amplifier and an auxiliary jack. Sound Quality The head unit comes with 7 pre set equalisers and these are great when you just want to turn on your radio be it on the way back from work or a simple trip to the shops. When excessive bass or squealing high notes are not needed. The head unit is great at playing simple music from the radio. The unit is also very good when you enter the custom equaliser mode and set it up how ever you like either with a thumping bass or a very clear crisp mid/treble. These three aspects can be adjusted form -10 db to...

Sony CDX-NC9950

Advantages: Simple Interface, CD Changer, Satellite Navigation, Amp out
Disadvantages: Fascia NOT removable

...The once flagship model of the Sony (Xplod) head-unit range would appear to have a lot on offer in terms of looks and functionality; Sat Nav, CD Changer compatible, Colour screen and a Simple design amongst other things. The exact specifications are still available on the Sony.co.uk website. Most of the various functions on the unit are controlled through a series of menu's. In all honesty they are very easy to navigate but take a bit of getting used to. The included remote control makes life a lot easier, especially as there aren't the usual 1-6 stations buttons on the front; however you can set one of the rotating wheels on the front to cycle through them. The fascia folds itself down to insert CD's at the press of a button, but it is not removable. However it does come with a cover to mask the head-unit from prying eyes...

CDX-GT 200 review + installation

Advantages: Excellent sound quality + output power, Pre Sub Out, Price
Disadvantages: Irritating detachable face, poor display, poor installation instructions + manual

...read but it plays well and has never skipped from a bump or read error. The tuner has excellent reception, without a booster aerial. The auxilary input, which is my mp3 player is good as long as you have the EQ on the mp3 player off, and about 90% volume, too low will create more noise and too high will create distortion. I have the non MP3 version which cant play MP3s, so an mp3 player connected via a jack works just fine. The 3 band EQ on the unit is good as you can edit it from +10 to -10db. All the setting hold and can be stored. The only flaws I have with the unit are a fairly basic display, which is typical of a budget sony, but still a spectrum analyser would be nice. The detachable face is also a problem, easy to remove but a hassle to get back on, the golden connector is hard to line up with the spring loaded connector and takes...

Sony surprised me

Advantages: mp3 playback
Disadvantages: poor quality construction

...Having known the brand name Sony since I was three, I knew that that I wanted something that reliable and well-built. My CDMP40 was stolen and I had to get something to replace the silence in my car. So, after much research, I bought this unit in 2004 from Circuit City and picked it up instore, while in New York. Having worked with car stereo instalations (to car-show level and quality) this deck was my choice because of its mp3 playback capability and removable face plate. However, this deck was plagued with problems from the moment I installed it. While I was accustomed to the flip-down face design to accomodate loading of the CD, the little faceplate that slides down and clicks to eject the CD was rather well thought-out, so you wouldn't have to worry about breaking off the faceplate if you hit a pothole while loading a CD...

CDX-T69: Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Advantages: Very slim design, can play CDR/RW, good anti-skip, it's a sony
Disadvantages: Front door is a bit fiddly. Caddy is flimsey

...Many cars stereos have the ability to link up with a CD changer of some kind. These changers tend to vary from 6 disc, to 20 disc. The most common are 6 and 12 disc. These changers are an ideal way to listen to discs, and are potentially life savers in the way they prevent the driver from manually changing disc. They are ideal for longer journeys as well, where a disc change may be required to keep the tunes coming. I personally had a Sony CDX-T62 already installed when I brought my second-hand Escort last year. It's been a solid performer, with one drawback; it didn't like CD-R or CD-RW discs. By "didn't like", I mean that sometimes you could play a disc just fine, and sometimes it would skip like crazy. A few discs I made just didn't work, and the unit reported there was no disc! This isn't Sony's fault. There are differences...

Exceptional incar CD-Radio at an exceptional price

Advantages: Excellent specification, looks cool
Disadvantages: ergonomically a disaster area!

...A good CD radio at a good price ? if you shop around! Sony have an enviable reputation for delivering high quality, good looking electrical goods, if a little pricey. They also have a reputation, of allowing older models to be sold off with ?deep discounting?. The Sony CDX-F500C is no exception, whether or not this is a ?current? model. Or one shortly to go out of production, I couldn?t say, but being able to buy one at half normal retail price would lead me to think this was the case. I had been looking to replace my Original Equipment cassette radio in my old Proton* car for around six months or so. I had noticed this particular model (or one very similar to it) and had decided that the guide price of £140 was a little beyond my means, it was therefore a welcome surprise to see Argos* were offering this model at £69...

Sony So Good

Advantages: Looks Great, Sub Out, MP3 Playback
Disadvantages: No Aux in on front

...and play all the tracks! As well as being a great mp3 player it also has the usual features of a decent audio system like RDS, Traffic Alert etc. The CDX-MP70 also has an auxiliary input at the back of the unit where I plug in my laptop so I can watch DVDs through the car audio system! A sub output is also there so there is no instant need to buy an amplifier to run a sub if your just starting out your car audio system. You can categorise your music into folders when your burning your tracks on your CD and the CDX-MP70 will display this on screen so you could categorise your music into say Dance, Punk or Metal, just by rotating the knob you can set the unit to play music from that particular category. Like most Sony CD head units it can display CD text which is another useful feature. Another great feature on the unit is that it is...
