Sony CDX-GT 300 S Head Unit

...I received one of these as a Christmas present in 2005 although I organised buying it so that my mum would get the cheapest deal. I paid about £115 quid for it so being able to buy it now for £89 is a real bonus. I liked the large screen with scolling playlist information. Particularly impressive when you have a CD full of MP3s in the head unit and it scrolls through the title of the song. I also liked the auto dim when you turn the headlights on (works in my V-Reg Astra anyway) so that the backlighting doesnt dazzle you, however, in the day the red/white lighting of the unit is also very funky and cool. The fact that it could integrate with the controls on my steering wheel (after purchasing an adaptor) was also a real plus point for mee as it makes changing tracks/volume whilst on the move a lot easier than having to...

Advantages: Cheap, Easy to use and does what is says on the tin

...I have the Sony head unit installed into my Peugeot 106 and have hooked up a set of pioneer fronts components and an external amplifier and it copes very well indeed. The basic spec is 4 x 50 watts output with 32 presets and the usual face off facility, also 1 pre-out for either a sub or amplifier and an auxiliary jack. Sony BDP-S350 don't waste your money on cheeper alternatives.

Advantages: Becoming affordable, Very impressive picture quality.

...I bought this Blu Ray player as I wanted to watch DVD's in the same glorious HD as SKY HD, but also because I wanted an upscaling DVD player for non-HD DVD's. I had previously tried a Philips upscaling player, but was very disappointed with the performance, which was barely better than my standard, non-HDMI DVD player, so took it back for a refund. The Sony BDP-S350 however is a totally different animal. Firstly, It looks good, with it's metallic blue front, which automatically flips open and closed when a disc is inserted or ejected. Boot-up time on some Blu Ray players has been an issue, but on the Sony it is as quick as any standard player. Connections are via an HDMI cable, there is also a optical output for excellent Dolby 5.1, via the necessary hardware. Blu Ray picture quality is tremendous, possibly slightly better than SKY...

...The once flagship model of the Sony (Xplod) head-unit range would appear to have a lot on offer in terms of looks and functionality; Sat Nav, CD Changer compatible, Colour screen and a Simple design amongst other things. The exact specifications are still available on the Sony.co.uk website. Most of the various functions on the unit are controlled through a series of menu's. In all honesty they are very easy to navigate but take a bit of getting used to. The included remote control makes life a lot easier, especially as there aren't the usual 1-6 stations buttons on the front; however you can set one of the rotating wheels on the front to cycle through them. The fascia folds itself down to insert CD's at the press of a button, but it is not removable. However it does come with a cover to mask the head-unit from prying eyes...

  Sony KDL32S2010 - Still a Sony Fan

Advantages: Good Picture and Excellent Sound. Easy to set up with lots of features
Disadvantages: Occasional picture freeze (see review) when TV tends to re-set itself (probably due to broadcast conditions though)

...To be honest I am basically a Sony sound system fanatic simply because I am a person to whom music means a lot, but it is also true I have an inherent weakness for the sony brand name itself. Although I am not a professional photographer but photography does interest me a lot and on top of that there are friends who are professionals in this field. I came across Sony Cybershot DSC-S950 through one of my friends, what attracted me was its silvery looks (not that it is available in silver only, pink and black variations are also available) and since it was there with him I borrowed it in order to try it out for a while. The auxilary input, which is my mp3 player is good as long as you have the EQ on the mp3 player off, and about 90% volume, too low will create more noise and too high will create distortion. I have the non MP3 version which cant play MP3s, so an mp3 player connected via a jack works just fine. The 3 band EQ on the unit is good as you can edit it from +10 to -10db. All the setting hold and can be stored. The only flaws I have with the unit are a fairly basic display, which is typical of a budget sony, but still a spectrum analyser would be nice. The detachable face is also a problem, easy to remove but a hassle to get back on, the golden connector is hard to line up with the spring loaded connector and takes...
