Sony surprised me
Advantages: mp3 playback
Disadvantages: poor quality construction
...Having known the brand name Sony since I was three, I knew that that I wanted something that reliable and well-built.
My CDMP40 was stolen and I had to get something to replace the silence in my car. So, after much research, I bought this unit in 2004 from Circuit City and picked it up instore, while in New York.
Having worked with car stereo instalations (to car-show level and quality) this deck was my choice because of its mp3 playback capability and removable face plate.
However, this deck was plagued with problems from the moment I installed it.
While I was accustomed to the flip-down face design to accomodate loading of the CD, the little faceplate that slides down and clicks to eject the CD was rather well thought-out, so you wouldn't have to worry about breaking off the faceplate if you hit a pothole while loading a CD...

CDX-R6550 Review by deaders
Advantages: sony quality, mp3 playback
Disadvantages: fragile front loading mechanism, slightly overpriced
...I bought this cd player from halfords for £199.99, because I needed a player that played mp3's, and if anything, looked good in my car. My car came with a factory fitted Sony cassette player, so an upgrade was necessary.
After Halfords installed it, I was amazed by the quality of sound that came from the speakers. (Note that I had the speakers with the old player). You are offered a wide selection of sound modes in which to hear your music. For example, Sony market their 'Xplod' range of in-car products. The player has a 'Xplod' sound mode whereby the sound automatically changes to crisp treble and meatier bass. Other sound modes which can also be found on other CD players include vocal enhancer, treble enhancer, bass enhancer, jazz, club, house etc etc. The sound quality especially on the 'Xplod' mode is of typical Sony quality i...

My Sony CDXR3300
Advantages: Easy to use, not too expensive and good quality
Disadvantages: none
...I havent really had many CD players to be able to compare this too, but after having my MOS CD player this is 1000000 times better!
It never skips, plays MP3 CD's, has a great range of settings and sound variations from Jazz to XPlod (when using with preferabl XPlod speakers) and it has a great radio signal which my MOS one didnt.
It also came with a mini romote control which my passengers use more than I do!
I bought mine for £89.99 in the Argos Sale after christmas last year after having 3 of the same MOS CD players all of which broke or didnt work to start with.
These Sony CD players come with plenty of attachments form different speakers, subs and amps depending on your need for music and are so easy to hook up and fit into your car. The instructions are in English (which is always helpful) and are in good detail so if you do...

Best value for money going.
Advantages: Plays more than just ordinary CDs, comes with remote control.
Disadvantages: Display is average, some buttons not well laid out. No WMA support.
...external amplifiers or sub woofer, you can also configure them at this time. No option is provided for driving a Sony CD or MD autochanger, you would require the CDX-R3550C version for that (the manual covers both).
The pop-off front is not quite the only anti-theft mechanism. The body of the stereo locks into the metal cage and requires the supplied metal levers to release it. The average car radio thief junkie would simply smash your dashboard to bits instead, but at least it would slow him down. There is also the option of mounting a bolt at the back of the unit which would make extracting the stereo even harder, but most cars won't have the required location for the bolt to fit. There is no radio coding facility in the event of power failure, probably because this causes legitimate owners more grief than it causes low-life anyway...

Enter the Sony!
Advantages: Packed with extras, looks good and feels good.
Disadvantages: See review for the very minor con`s.
...Sony are one of the newest companies to venture into the world of DSLR`s, having been producing some quite excellent point and shoot cameras for many years this is a move that most people in the photography world had expected to happen a long time ago and a lot had feared the day it did happen too.
The reason many photographers feared Sony entering the DSLR market is simply that it would be hard not to get drawn into what they had to offer but they feared that Sony might find the market too challenging and bale out leaving many photographers with cameras that they could not upgrade and would struggle to find lenses and accessories for.
When buying a point and shoot camera you are spending in the region of between 100 and 200 pounds for a top of the range model, whilst when purchasing a DSLR camera you could be looking at spending...

A Great System from Sony
Advantages: Nice Classy Design, Great Graphics, and a Good Online
Disadvantages: Small Gamelist Thus Far and Some Games Suffer From Framerate and Graphical Pop-Up Issues
...Sony's Playstation 3 is thier third go around in the Video Game business. My console reviews usually consist of reviews in the following categories Controller, Graphics, Multiplayer/Online, and Game Library. Much like the Xbox 360, i'll also be reviewing the Design of the PS3.
The design of the PS3 is the more classy of the three new consoles. The PS3 is a black square system with a curved top. While the design is beautiful, this system is very big, matching the 360 in terms of size. The system also offers Blu-ray but, in my opinion, that should not be the only reason you should be spending $400-500 on this system.
The PS3's controller is the classic Playstation controller once again and that shouldn't be a problem for any gamer. The original PS3 controller was the Sixaxis but is now Dualshock 3. For a company that created...

Sony is back with a bang!
Advantages: slick piece of hardware, great games, so much to do!
Disadvantages: not cheap!
...Having just recently won a competition to spend a night with the PS3 I figured it would be a smart idea to do a personal review of the console which everyone will be talking about (in the UK) in a few weeks to come. Please bear in mind that I have only had a chance to test this baby out for a few hours and so my review will not be as in-depth as you might expect.
First Impressions
The PS3 is indeed a slick looking machine, about the size of it's older brother (PS2) it seems as though finally Sony have caught on to the fact that the outer design of the console is as important to a gamer as the leather interior is to a 2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
Gone is that ugly block-like design and in comes a smooth surfaced console with curved edges just begging you to caress them. Much like it's predecessor, the PS3 can be placed...

Sony Playstation 3 (PS3)
Advantages: Best Entertainment System Avaliable, Region free games only
Disadvantages: 4GB file limitation External Storage, Cant read NTFS
...I am going to be reviewing possibly one of the biggest console in the market currently the PS3. Firstly I have one and it is great, now let's take a look at it in detail:
LAUNCH
November 11, 2006: This is when it debut in Japan
November 17, 2006: It released in North America
March 23, 2007: Finally was released in Europe, Australia, the Middle East, Africa and New Zealand.
The UK launch was a shock for who went to it, as it was announced that everyone in the queue would receive a 46" Sony Bravia TV worth £2000.
The launches did not turn out great for Sony as initial figures were low, here are the figures below:
Worldwide: 5.59 Million - Japan 1,341,000 - North America 2,105,500 - Other 1,300,000
The launch was initially supposed to be as follows:
November 11th for Japan and November 17th for North America...

Another great console from Sony
Advantages: Really good graphics, Blue Ray player built in, wireless internet for free
Disadvantages: High price, loud fan when playing games
...Sony's next generation console was well worth the wait from the Playstation 2. I have owned a PS3 for just over a year now and I have so far had no problems with it and to see the quality of the graphics of any game was incredible, and it was such a step up from the PS2. Although Sony was late in releasing the PS3, it was worth the wait in the end, although I did consider getting an Xbox 360 instead. The Xbox 360 came out much earlier and allowed microsoft the oppurtunity to get more Xbox 360's out there before the PS3 was even out. However there have been many reported problems with the Xbox 360, such as the console freezing, so I thought I best play it safe and instead get the PS3 when I had some money.
The PS3 also offers more benefits over the Xbox 360, like free online play and less reported faults with the console in general...

The Sony Underdog
Advantages: Great features for low price, Great value for money
Disadvantages: Smaller range of Lenses than competitors
... Sony a200 D-SLR camera
Introduction
This Sony a200 is the bottom of the range fully fledged entry level d-SLR from Sony. With prices now well below £300 could this be the camera for you to enter the next level of your photography? I believe it can. Offering a wide range of features, lenses and quality that has brought Sony where it is today, this camera will definitely be giving the bigger names something to worry about.
The Camera
This camera is obviously designed from scratch to bring ultimate simplicity to beginners to enthusiasts alike. The build quality is very good for the price, though not as strong as many other cameras in the market, it looks as though it could still take a fair blow or two, but not three. The 10.2 mega-pixel offering is more than enough for most levels of photography...
