Sony Handycam DCR HC1000E

Advantages: Excellent Image with 3CCD, Lightweight and Easy to Use
Disadvantages: Now obsolete due to High-Def 3CCD Camcorders

...with them. The DCR H1000E is no exception and used a superb lens which gives superb clarity to the images. And being able to focus manually is a great addition to this camera. Sometimes you really need that manual control for fast focussing (which autofocus cameras are not particularly good at) and also to add effects, because the point of focus may not be in the main part of the frame. The Zebra pattern is only of interest to quite serious photographers, and for those reading this it operates just as most others do and there is nothing exceptional about it. For those that want to know what it is I suggest looking for a reputable website or a good book, because its importance and use are beyond the scope of a review. The spot meter and spot focus are rather more for the serious types, but in a nutshell it gives you a much great control...

Advantages: small, very high quality, durable,
Disadvantages: none to be honest

...a strap which prevents it from falling (I didnt do so when I dropped it twice but no harm done, still its a heads up), all relevant buttons which you might use when recording are reachable with the hand that is strapped in and holding the camcorder. It takes mini DV tapes. it takes 5-6 hours for it to charge fully. The company is reliable as it is sony and they give good customer support. I would recommend this to all camcorder buyers....

...Originally bought as an upgrade from my battered old Sony video camcorder, this has proven to be quite the gem i thought it wouldnt turn out to be... Able to record both at widescreen and tv aspects, sony has already given the advantage to users who wish to watch on their 48inch plasma screens(a luxury most of us do not have), and so instantly grab a whole chunk of the market. As for recording time, it leaves much to be desired if using a standard DV tape, which can, surprisingly, only take an hour of footage. If your pockets are big you could shell out and buy the memory chip (up to 2gb worth is supported), and thus give yourself more recording time, but, realistically, at that price you could buy a whole load of tapes. ...I suspect people may be surpised that I haven't included one of the main USP's (Unique Selling Point) as an advantage. This camcorder writes to mini-dvd's (-R/-RW) but thats not necessarily an advantage. I'll come back to that in a minute. Lets go through the good stuff first. The best thing is the widescreen mode. All TV's sold these days are widescreen and to be honest they have been widescreen for a number of years now so why manufactures have waited so long to release a camcorder with a widescreen mode is beyond me.
