Sony Digital Video Camera Recorder

easy to use, compact, robust digital video camera

...We bought our panasonic video camera, which takes mini dv cassettes, when we knew we were expecting our daughter to capture all her firsts. The camera has lived up to Panasonics good reputation and takes very clear video with excellent sound with good clarity of both audio and visual. The twisting lcd viewing screen is a brilliant feature too, especially for videoing my daughter as you are able to shoot film without holding the camera to your face, so you can interact with her as normal and she's not put off by the camera. It has got 500x digital zoom, which is excellent for taking natural footage of your loved ones while they are playing in the sea, or down the bottom of the garden etc! The camera takes a 7.2v battery, which lasts quite well. The only problem is you have to remember to turn the camera completely off...

Sony Alpha A200 (Digital SLR)

Disadvantages: Manual modes

...camera is compatible with the old Minolta lenses - which are cheaper and often better that the Sony ones (for more advanced photos). The manual settings are easy to use, however are a little rigid, and I find do not give you the same flexibility as some of the more expensive digital SLRs or manual ones (Cannon ones are very good for this), however for the price of the Sony, the settings are reasonable. Down to the most important point - image quality. I cannot really find fault with this at all, and this is comparable to some of the much more expensive Canon and Pentax SLRs! The lens provided with this camera is not the best for very close up and macro photography, however it tends to perform very well for any other shots - and there is always the option to change to a better lens for these purposes. Overall - excellent camera...

Canon IXUS 95 IS: The best amateur digital camera on the market

The camera itself has a metal casing and so has a sleek feel and look to it. It's very light weight and compact making it very easy to carry around in a handbag or while, (and most importantly) taking pictures! I found that it took only 5 - 10 minutes to get the camera working from out of the box. It was so simple, I didn't take that much notice of the manual. When starting up the camera, it isn't slow like they digital cameras of yesteryear. Its ability to capture anything in an instant is one of it's many advantages. Canon Digital IXUS 80 IS -nice little camera

...I am not an expert on digital cameras and this is just the second one I bought. So I cannot really compare the Ixus 80 with other cameras. Nevertheless, I really like it. Looks The Lxus 80 comes in Classic Silver, Caramel, Chocolate and Candy Pink in an aluminium body. It is small enough to fit in a pocket and can be tacken anywhere with no problems. As far as I can say it is very reliable and does brilliant pictures for a normal user. Features It works with 8 megapixels .The 3x zoom works for all the general snapshot moments. It comes with an Image Stabilization (IS moniker) to reduce camera shake. As far as I know this is not standard on all cameras yet, but becomes more normal in newer models. The lens is glass, so it?s definitely an advantage towards cameras with a plastic lens. You can certainly see that in the quality...

There is the capability to take videos although as I mentioned in my other review, digital cameras are not the best vehicle for this exercise and the videos on this camera do not have any sound. Other capabilities include a little mirror on the front that allows self portraits, there is a timer which allows you to set up and run around to get in the shot and the camera also offers pictures in colour, black and white, sepia or negative. Memory is in the form of a memory stick, so you can purchase whatever you require in terms of memory. I had a 1g stick and I think I got 300+ pictures with this.
