...Having just recently won a competition to spend a night with the PS3 I figured it would be a smart idea to do a personal review of the console which everyone will be talking about (in the UK) in a few weeks to come. Please bear in mind that I have only had a chance to test this baby out for a few hours and so my review will not be as in-depth as you might expect. Sony DCR DVD201E Camcorder

Advantages: Widescreen mode
Disadvantages: slow access to dvd, no separate memory card slot

...I suspect people may be surpised that I haven't included one of the main USP's (Unique Selling Point) as an advantage. This camcorder writes to mini-dvd's (-R/-RW) but thats not necessarily an advantage. I'll come back to that in a minute. Lets go through the good stuff first. The best thing is the widescreen mode. All TV's sold these days are widescreen and to be honest they have been widescreen for a number of years now so why manufactures have waited so long to release a camcorder with a widescreen mode is beyond me. However Sony have finally done it and its great. I now record footage and play it back on my TV in the correct proportions without any of that faffing about with changing the aspect mode on your TV. Advantages: Really good graphics, Blue Ray player built in, wireless internet for free
Disadvantages: High price, loud fan when playing games

...Sony's next generation console was well worth the wait from the Playstation 2. I have owned a PS3 for just over a year now and I have so far had no problems with it and to see the quality of the graphics of any game was incredible, and it was such a step up from the PS2. Although Sony was late in releasing the PS3, it was worth the wait in the end, although I did consider getting an Xbox 360 instead. The Xbox 360 came out much earlier and allowed microsoft the oppurtunity to get more Xbox 360's out there before the PS3 was even out. However there have been many reported problems with the Xbox 360, such as the console freezing, so I thought I best play it safe and instead get the PS3 when I had some money. The PS3 also offers more benefits over the Xbox 360, like free online play and less reported faults with the console in general...

Advantages: Excellent gaming and user interface, incorporated Blu-Ray and DVD Player, 60Gb Hard Drive.
Disadvantages: Few 'top title' release games, size of console, appears very expensive.

...about this section is that it may be impressive now but soon it won't be as much, as computers are advancing rapidly now e.g. dual core, quad core games will be maybe 5 times better than the ps3 will be able to show. So if you are one of those people who wants to get the most they can from games then go with PC instead as it is easy to upgrade and games will continue to improve. The GPU was developed by NVIDIA and Sony, This graphics card is similar to NVIDIA 7800. This tells me that already the pc has a better graphics card than the PS3 as NVIDIA has released 8800 ULTRA and soon will be releasing 9 series. Just makes you wonder how long it will be before Sony decides to make you buy a PS4. My bet is within 3-4 years. ...This Sony DVD player is incredible. This is without a doubt the best DVD player I have ever owned. It is attractive, sleek, and appealing. It is also very durable. When I first received it I dropped it accidentally and I thought it was broken for sure. It turns out it was just scuffed. So I took to my TV right away and hooked it up. It was great. It played all my DVD's and never overheated. I used it plenty of times and I still have it and it is still one of the smartest purchases I have ever made. If you have the chance and the money handy to pick up this product I would suggest you did. Hopefully you will have the same great experience as me except for the dropping it part well enjoy....

It really is stupidy easy to shoot and film, even for novices such as myself. The 1.07 Megapixels Advanced HAD CCD enables unbelievably true image recording. I'm not sure whether on the images it is still 1.07Mp's as I have another sony camera with 7.2Mp and the image quality is identical. Also the 12x optical zoom offers all of the close-ups that you could imagine. However after taken the pictures there is a 480x digital zoom which allows you to people watch on you street beautifully!
