My Sony Ericsson W580i

Advantages: Thin, Good Memory, Aesthetically pleasing, good value for money.
Disadvantages: Cover is worn quite easily, buttons crack quickly.

...me being careless with it. Problems i am now being to notice with the phone are; cracked buttons, worn outer shell, and the cover at the back has a gap in it. Others who have used this phone discovered that it got badly damaged through just using it after only several months - in fact everyone else i know moved on and bought a new phone after only a few months of using the W580i. But my experience of the W580i has very little complaints, and i am only now beginning to contemplate a new mobile as i am becoming rather fond of the new touch screen mobiles... But anyone who is considering the Sony Ericsson; i say go for it!...

...I owned this phone for just over a year I was on 02 network and I paid £139.99 for it. The mobile phone software is very good but the phone itself is very disappointing!!!!! First of all the Sony Ericsson W580i comes with a 512MB memory card and a 2.0 mega pixel camera. This obviously means that there is alot of space for pictures, music and video files. The picture quality is also brilliant too. The menu's are easily accessable and is practically the same as other Sony Ericsson mobile phones. On the Sony Ericsson W580i you can listen to the local radio station, Play the Games (My phone came with two games), TrackID (This you put your phone next to a speaker and the song is ID'd but comes with a price), Video Player. A "Video dj" Which allows you to add your videos together, PhotoDJ which allows you to edit...

Advantages: Good all round phone

...I text quite a lot. One thing I have noticed is that they do not feel as solid as any of my other Sony Ericsson phones, and although responsive, don't keep up with me quite as well as my last phone, the W810i. The buttons on the upper part of the slider, and therefore the buttons most subjected to the batterings of the other items in my bag, are very solid and easy to use. Also, I'm glad Sony Ericsson put aside the joystick, as the directional pad is much easier to use, and much less susceptible to fault. The phone has an average memory capacity, which can be extended using a memory card up to 2GB. It has all of the features you would expect from a standard, recently released mobile. The camera is quite poor, but as I do not use the phone for taking picures (I have an excellent digital camera for that!) this wasn't much of an issue...

Advantages: slim, light-weight, feature packed phone

...I have had Sony Ericsson phone for the last 3 or 4 years now and am very happy with them. I find they are the easiest to use (nokia come very close) and they are good quality feature packed phones. This phone is not an exception. If you have used Sony Ericsson before you will be familiar with most of the features on this phone - the only difference really is the appearance and one or two features have been added or upgraded. If you are considering getting this phone, I would imagine you won't have to pay for it, it will be free on most contracts or around £200 sim-free! Shop around for the best deals? As this is a slide phone, you can answer a call by simply opening the phone up and end the call by closing it?it also locks automatically when it is closed which is good. The camera on this phone is 2megapixels. In good light...

...I have the white version of this mobile phone, it is on the o2 network pay as you go. When i first boughtthis mobile phone from the o2 shop, i had plenty of problems with it, the memory card wouldn't work, the back cover is hard to put on and the simcard is fiddly to put in, i had to use a pen to push it into place till it clicked in. I sent it back to the o2 shop who agreed with me that there have been problems with a big batch of them. He replaced it with the same model, and set it up for me while in the shop. He had problems putting the sim card in, so i suggested he used a pen to push it in. The sim card on this mobile phone actually go in upside down with the metal connection bit facing upwards. These actually scratched while trying to insert in on both both occasions, after he set it up, there was no problems with it...

Sony W580i A flawed gem?

Advantages: Easy to use, great features in an affordable phone
Disadvantages: Poor quality keypad.

...I bought the Sony Ericson W580i as a gift for my daughters 13th birthday, and she loves it. We got her the pink one which was exclusive to Orange shops, so it had to be on an Orange pay as you go, which caused some problems as they refused to offer the texts deal they were advertising at the time. Anyway onto the phone which my daughter mainly uses to listen to music, and make occasional calls to let us know where she is, and text her friends. All of the basic functions are easy for her to use (if not for us old fogies to use) and the 2.0 megapixel camera is ideal for quick snapshots of her and her friends and sisters when they're doing something silly. Sony Ericsson W580i in Pink!

Advantages: Nice little compact phone with plenty of features.
Disadvantages: Needed external memory stick in order to make full use of Walkman feature.

...I had the Sony Ericsson W580i as a temporary replacement when my other phone needed repairing. It cost me just £60 for the pink version as it was a customer return, not used but the seal on the box had been broken. Anyway back to the phone; was pleasantly surprised by how powerful the phone was considering how small and lightweight it was compared to my previous one, it weighs around 94grams. The menu function was clear and concise and it was easy to find what I was looking for. I found it quick and easy to enter additional contact infomation that wasn't stored on my Sim Card, and the whole phone was simple to navigate. The sound clarity when using the Walkman function was very clear and a novel way of shaking the phone to get to the next track was a lot less fiddly than having to keep going into the menu function. ...I had never had a sony ericsson before and some how i got the impression that they would have been complicated to use. How wrong I was!! Being strictly a nokia buyer in the past i had felt a little aprehensive about this purchase. I got the phone for around 150 pounds in Argos which was a special deal on pay as you talk vodafone. I was surprised at the slim body of the phone as sony ericssons in the past have been chunky. It fits very nice in the hand and looks very smart . The phone came in a really smart little red box like a cube with software for the computer,a cable,instructions, headphones and charger. ...i find that the sony ericsson w580i is a very neat and compact phone it has a very slick look to it and keeps up with the standars of todays technolagy i enjoy using this phone very much but there are quite a few disadvantges to this phone 1 which i find is quite a big thing is that it does not hav a flash on the camera which i find is quite important because if u like to take pictures whilst you are out and about at nite time the picture quialty can be quite poor another thing i find with this phone is that the battery does not last longer than a day and if you are out and do not hav a charger then you are stuffed. but the reason i highly rate this phone is because it is very light and on the sides of the phone it has flashing lights of all colurs tht flash to the sound of the music it also has a button which u can press and shake...

...you can input your personal details and use the pedometer which counts your steps everyday and measures who many calories you're burning.. My phone also includes many other great applications including Photo DJ, Video DJ & Music DJ and my favourite.. Track ID, which enables you to record a short clip of music from the radio, TV or another external music source and it'll send it over the internet and find the song title, artist and album name it is from [if available] Genius! :) The phone includes some fantastic, modern themes, I especially love the 'Splat' theme :) Camera isnt as great as it could be, but its a Walkman phone.. if you're after a Sony Ericsson with a fantastic camera, go for 'K' range. But for a great looking, easy to use music player phone.. this is definately worth looking at!!...
