W580i sony ericsson walkman phone

Advantages: good for music and entertainment in general. Pedometer feature and shake feature v good
Disadvantages: pricey and buttons can be annoying at first

...I had never had a sony ericsson before and some how i got the impression that they would have been complicated to use. How wrong I was!! Being strictly a nokia buyer in the past i had felt a little aprehensive about this purchase. I got the phone for around 150 pounds in Argos which was a special deal on pay as you talk vodafone. I was surprised at the slim body of the phone as sony ericssons in the past have been chunky. It fits very nice in the hand and looks very smart . The phone came in a really smart little red box like a cube with software for the computer,a cable,instructions, headphones and charger. I couldn't wait to use my new purchase so i plugged it in for charge and turnt it on and it already had half a battery which was a very nice thing if you want your new phone straight away. My Sony Ericsson W580i

Advantages: Thin, Good Memory, Aesthetically pleasing, good value for money.
Disadvantages: Cover is worn quite easily, buttons crack quickly.

...I owned this phone for just over a year I was on 02 network and I paid £139.99 for it. The mobile phone software is very good but the phone itself is very disappointing!!!!! First of all the Sony Ericsson W580i comes with a 512MB memory card and a 2.0 mega pixel camera. This obviously means that there is alot of space for pictures, music and video files. The picture quality is also brilliant too. The menu's are easily accessable and is practically the same as other Sony Ericsson mobile phones. ...I text quite a lot. One thing I have noticed is that they do not feel as solid as any of my other Sony Ericsson phones, and although responsive, don't keep up with me quite as well as my last phone, the W810i. The buttons on the upper part of the slider, and therefore the buttons most subjected to the batterings of the other items in my bag, are very solid and easy to use. Also, I'm glad Sony Ericsson put aside the joystick, as the directional pad is much easier to use, and much less susceptible to fault. The phone has an average memory capacity, which can be extended using a memory card up to 2GB. It has all of the features you would expect from a standard, recently released mobile. The camera is quite poor, but as I do not use the phone for taking picures (I have an excellent digital camera for that!) this wasn't much of an issue...

...I have had Sony Ericsson phone for the last 3 or 4 years now and am very happy with them. I find they are the easiest to use (nokia come very close) and they are good quality feature packed phones. This phone is not an exception. If you have used Sony Ericsson before you will be familiar with most of the features on this phone - the only difference really is the appearance and one or two features have been added or upgraded. If you are considering getting this phone, I would imagine you won't have to pay for it, it will be free on most contracts or around £200 sim-free! Shop around for the best deals? As this is a slide phone, you can answer a call by simply opening the phone up and end the call by closing it?it also locks automatically when it is closed which is good. ...This Phone is very stylish and modern and is great for young people. Not only is it a phone but it doubles up as a walkman so you have accsess to your favorite music whilst on the go. you can change the track by shaking the phone when you are in walkman mode. personally i find it is easier to skip the track in the normal way but this may appeal to some people. The phone comes with a memory card which doesnt have the biggest amount of space on it but you can quite easily fit a good amount of songs on the phone. You can also use the radio when you have your earphones plugged in. Sony W580i A flawed gem?

Advantages: Easy to use, great features in an affordable phone

...I bought the Sony Ericson W580i as a gift for my daughters 13th birthday, and she loves it. We got her the pink one which was exclusive to Orange shops, so it had to be on an Orange pay as you go, which caused some problems as they refused to offer the texts deal they were advertising at the time. Anyway onto the phone which my daughter mainly uses to listen to music, and make occasional calls to let us know where she is, and text her friends. Sony Ericsson W580i in Pink!

Advantages: Nice little compact phone with plenty of features.
Disadvantages: Needed external memory stick in order to make full use of Walkman feature.

It cost me just £60 for the pink version as it was a customer return, not used but the seal on the box had been broken. Anyway back to the phone; was pleasantly surprised by how powerful the phone was considering how small and lightweight it was compared to my previous one, it weighs around 94grams. The menu function was clear and concise and it was easy to find what I was looking for. I found it quick and easy to enter additional contact infomation that wasn't stored on my Sim Card, and the whole phone was simple to navigate. The sound clarity when using the Walkman function was very clear and a novel way of shaking the phone to get to the next track was a lot less fiddly than having to keep going into the menu function. Sony Erricson W580i - On My 2nd Replacement After 18 months

Disadvantages: wear and tear after 6 months

...a free replacement product of the same model and free pick up of the old one. after only having my new phone for 8 months the same thing happened to the keypad so i rang them up again and they gave me yet another replacement. I have now changed my phone to another model as the keypad on my THIRD phone has cracked yet again. I am appauled with the quality of this product and the annoyance it has caused me. i am not saying the phone is rubbish as the walkman features are very good and the service is great but this phone is not worth the money or time as they are just not substantial enough....
