My Sony TRV110
Review of Sony Handycam DCR TRV110E by
bevboys
Advantages: not too heavy, good first-user DV camera.
Disadvantages: LCD Screen usage can eat battery if used unecessarily
...My main reason for buying the Sony DCR-TRV110 was the price drop as new DCR products came on the market. This price drop allowed me to access digital video and the wonders that come with it.
As a teacher of information technology one thing had eluded me and that was using computers for video capture, and in particular digital video capture.
The use of the Sony DCR-TRV110 can range from simple record and playback to attaching it to a computer video capture card such as Pinnacle Studio DV and perfoming amazing feats of video editing.
Even without attaching the Sony DCR-TRV110 to a computer it boasts some pretty amazing features such as Titling, different type of shoot mode including 'old film' and Sepia toning. There is a great range of transitional effects for blending shots.
One of the other good features is the Sony patented...

The Excellent Sony DCR-PC8E
Review of Sony Handycam DCR PC8E by
paul_richards
Advantages: Really Easy to use and Excellent Touch Screen
Disadvantages: Batter doesn't last to long!
...This is truely an excellent Digital Camcorder, the touch screen display make setting all the features up really easy and makes them all quickly acessable. The Unit is really well made and has excellent conectivity via Firewire to your PC. The battery is not the best in the world and last a maximum of an hour and a half in normall conditions.
The Camcorder has a very good loading mechanism for the Mini-DV tapes, which are quite reasonably priced in most shops and even better on-line!
The DCR-PC8E is excellently laid out for all of the controls that are not provided by the touch screen and can all be used with your hand in the carrying strap.
Avaliablility of accessories as with all Sony Products is excellent...

Hold me, kiss me, film me
Review of Sony Handycam DCR DVD106E by
sayitasitis
Advantages: light, cheap, easy to use, great pictures and sound on playback
Disadvantages: looks a bit cheap because of all the plastic
...At work I am charged with recording all of the speeches made by my boss. That makes me the official bag carrier, general ego massager and all round dogsbody, but hey, it gets me out of the office for a few hours every week. Before the digital age I had to carry around a massive case, a tripod and enough spare tapes to make Blockbusters look amatuer. In the interests of health and safety and because our old camera died we decided to buy the Sony Handycam DCR DVD106E and best of all, I got to look after it meaning I could play with it at home. How much for this great piece of hardware, only £279 and that I think is quite cheap, especially for a Sony.
Built from pretty lightweight plastic (that looks a a bit tacky) the Handycam only weighs 390 grams and is ideal for my needs. I can stand at the back of a room for long periods or move...

Sony Handycam DCR TRV285E
Review of Sony Handycam DCR TRV285E by
Cazza85
Advantages: good quality pictures, small, stylish, remote control
Disadvantages: Only 90 mins battery life, can be confusing connecting to PC
...The Sony Handycam DCR TRV285E is a great camera for first time users. This camera can easily be operated without even having to read the instruction manual. It has the "Easy Handycam" feature which sets the camera settings automatically. The camera is light and easy to use. When recording there is a zoom function, the ability to have a title for the movie and various faders for opening and closing shots. The camera has a nightvision mode which uses infrared and gives you an eeirie green appearance to everything which is actually quite handy, or if filming in dull locations there is a handy light on the front of the camera. The camera can also be used to take still shots with a simple press of a button, this means you don't need to carry your normal camera as well.
The camera comes with a remote control which allows you to control...

Well worth my hard earned money
Review of Sony Handycam DCR HC19E by
bob_j4
Advantages: Nice big LCD, Its a sony, Easy to use, Nice look, Comfortable, Good picture quality
Disadvantages: There are camera's with much better picture quality for someone into recording
...I bout my digicam in march of this year and i have been amazed by it. I love sony products but this one really does take the buiscuit. It has some really nice features and is so sleek and stylish. Great for having abit of fun ;). I took mine on holiday to majorca and never had it away. I bought it for £350 and they have shot down in price since then. But never the less im still happy with the purchase.
Sony's DCR-HC19E is an excellently made Handycam. A good feature is it allows you to create your movies in the same set-up as your widescreen television shows them. Many DV cameras have this talent, but they are limited smaller LCD screens, which then display the subject in a squashed way while you record. The Handycam provides a true 16:9 ratio LCD screen measuring 2.5" diagonally. This means that when you are shooting in widescreen you...
