Dissapointing SONY DCR-SR90E

Advantages: Nice colours

...10 days ago I bought myself a SONY DCR-SR90E. The internet and the seemingly knowledgeable salesman convinced me that it would be perfect for filming concerts, with good light sensitivity and wonderful sound. Alas. It is all that, but it is a bit ahead of it's time. First thing I noticed after downloading the films is that WIndows Media Player, Quicktime and most others don't like surround-sound, the playback of the original roughs has massive interference. So I'd wanted to resort back to normal stereo, which the pc can handle. The camera does do stereo instead of the 5.1 surroundsound when the setting is on Easy Handycam. This is the setting for novices where you can't go wrong 'cause you can change nearly nothing. Advantages: Easy to use, DVD quality, 21 hours of recording time.

Advantages: Lightweight, compact, great for taking on holiday, plenty of room on HDD
Disadvantages: Found the camera microphone sensitive to wind noise at times.

...I purchased the Sony HDD cam towards the end of 2007. It cost me just over $1100 Australian, (around 320 GBP). The camera is light, compact, with easy to follow controls. Although the model is listed as SR60, in fact the hard-drive storage is 30gb, and I've found that this provides more than adequate room for my needs. You can record on this camera in several modes - Ive just set mine on High Quality mode which according to the instruction book is good for around 440minutes recording time- surely enough to satisfy most video buffs !
