Sony Handycam DCR TRV245 - a good camcorder

Advantages: Looks modern, good for it's age, many features, good battery life
Disadvantages: Can now get much better for much less! A bit big in todays world

...I brought this about 4 or 5 years ago, so it is getting fairly old now. I brought it from Agros, at £300, which, at the time, was a good deal, however, you now see camcorders 10 times better, smaller, and lighter, for a much lower price. Damn, if only they were that cheap back then... But oh well. The camcorder's looks is pretty nice, looks modern (even though now fairly old), and quite stylish. In it's time, it was fairly small and light, but obviously now you'll get lighter and smaller, but it is fine to take around anyway, and in the package I brought it with, I got a case I can take it around in. Overall picture quality is fairly good, better than VHS, not quite DVD though! You can use you computer to put the video onto DVD, or use a DVD recorder, and you'll get a fair image quality. Some of the other things you get with it are a cable to connect it to the TV for larger viewing. A comfortable shoulder strap. A very in depth manual with great recording ideas. Disadvantages: standard battery doesnt last long

...Sony have always had a great name in the market for Camera, as an entry level Camcorder, its quite capable of holding its own, and it wont be long until your video can be transfered from Camera and onto the PC, or sent off to Jeremy Beadle or who ever does that show these days. I find the TRV15E is quite light around 600g and fits neatly into the hand, within easy reach are the power buttons, snapshot and zoom buttons. The Camera has a digital Zoom of 120x. Hidden under the 2.5in colour screen are all the other controls for volume, search, display and playback. Beneath these buttons you also have the focus, fader and backlight , all within easy reach when your shooting your latest masterpiece. Advantages: Easy to use for the novice, loads of features for the more experienced.
