...I suspect people may be surpised that I haven't included one of the main USP's (Unique Selling Point) as an advantage. This camcorder writes to mini-dvd's (-R/-RW) but thats not necessarily an advantage. I'll come back to that in a minute. Lets go through the good stuff first. The best thing is the widescreen mode. All TV's sold these days are widescreen and to be honest they have been widescreen for a number of years now so why manufactures have waited so long to release a camcorder with a widescreen mode is beyond me. Advantages: Looks modern, good for it's age, many features, good battery life

...I brought this about 4 or 5 years ago, so it is getting fairly old now. I brought it from Agros, at £300, which, at the time, was a good deal, however, you now see camcorders 10 times better, smaller, and lighter, for a much lower price. Damn, if only they were that cheap back then... But oh well. The camcorder's looks is pretty nice, looks modern (even though now fairly old), and quite stylish. In it's time, it was fairly small and light, but obviously now you'll get lighter and smaller, but it is fine to take around anyway, and in the package I brought it with, I got a case I can take it around in. Overall picture quality is fairly good, better than VHS, not quite DVD though! You can use you computer to put the video onto DVD, or use a DVD recorder, and you'll get a fair image quality. ...Its a good camera for those people just starting out in the filming world. The features are there for both newbies and familiars. Easycam option which limits the features to be used, but that is easily turned off. Its just a plug and go, press and record camera. The trouble is the USB supplied with it transfers the rate really slowly to PC so i would advise getting a wirewire card and cable which allows for a VAST increase in frame rate, thus better videos on PC. I'd also advise getting some decent software such as Pinnacle Sudio 9, or even (if your like me and don't want to pay) the package included in Windows XP. Movie Maker perhaps? The software supplied by Sony is, quite frankly, diabolical. The battery life is quite poor too, but Sony do a wide range of different batteries for the Handycam series. It works beautifully if...
