Advantages: slick piece of hardware, great games, so much to do!

...Having just recently won a competition to spend a night with the PS3 I figured it would be a smart idea to do a personal review of the console which everyone will be talking about (in the UK) in a few weeks to come. Please bear in mind that I have only had a chance to test this baby out for a few hours and so my review will not be as in-depth as you might expect. Advantages: quality, crisp sound, great looks, can easily hide away
Disadvantages: power output is quite low, needs more mid range

...I bought the sony satelite system about 8 months ago. I did have a sony 5.1 system before but decided to change it as i had just bought a new plasma and wanted a surround system to compliment the looks of the plasma mainly (my tv's piano black as is the dav subwoofer). I knew the quality of the dav-is 10 was there but when i tested it i thought the power output was quite low but at the price it was the best option for the subtle, cosmetically smart looking surround that i was after. This system is not a powerful, in your face surround sound. It's a quality sounding, subtle looking crisp system - less powerful than my previous sony.. ...I have owned this Home Cinema System for a couple of months now (it replaces a £200 JVC system). I run it with a Samsung 37" LCD TV (connected via HDMI cable). I purchased it for £365, where some places were selling it for £599!!! (before you buy, shop around). I wont talk about the specification, because it can be viewed on the Sony website. What Attracted Me To This System? I wanted something that was modern looking and sophisticated. It was highly rated by What Hi-Fi? The speakers are very "subtle" and wall mountable - I didn't want large in your face speakers. Sony is a quality brand that I rate. I wanted something that gave good sound quality from music CD's (I use it as a Hi-Fi as well). My Verdict? Advantages: Excellent User Interface, Watch Video, Listen to Music, Go on Internet & More!!!

...! On a 512MB memory stick i managed to fit about 4 or 5 TV programs plus my saved games. You could get a film and some 1 or 2 TV programs as well at decent quality. The secret is to be prepared to compress your files. This is complicated they must be named in a specific way with 5 numbers at the end otherwise you cannot play them, I do not know why Sony did this but it is annoying. There is plenty of advice available on the web to do this, it is just an inconveniance rather than a problem! The Memory Stick Duo's are quite expensice and realistically to put TV programs or Films on you need at LEAST 256MB one. Although you can get them a lot cheaper now from eBay as you can get non-Sony ones from China, they still work fine, I used one! The Sony is almost music to my ears

Advantages: Great build quality, clear and spacious, good punch to the bass
Disadvantages: Can sound muddled when there is too much going on in the music

...Sony have always had a very solid reputation for producing solid hi fi i.e.rarely spectacular but certainly tick all the boxes you would ask for in hi fi. Thankfully this does very little to harm this reputation, the build quality is excellent and certainly is built to last, it is very sturdy and does not look cheap in the slightest. However cds are becoming something of a relic due to the fact that digital music stored on the computer does allow for a potentially much better sound quality courtesy of the many impressive external dac's now on the market. Having said that though, for those whose primary need is the convenience of immediately playing their favourite music cd's, then this does a very admirable job.   Another 5 star Sony!

Advantages: Great functions, east to use, looks and feels good and produces great images.
Disadvantages: The kit lens isnt the best and no live view may bother some.
