Advantages: the most powerful console on the market, built in blu-ray player, internet capabilities, stylish
Disadvantages: none that i have yet found (owned for nearly 2 years)

...Let me start by saying, that despite the hefty rrp, despite the fact that its 3rd in the console race behind the nintendo wii and xbox 360 respectfully, the playstation 3 is in my honest opinion, the best out of the three without a doubt. Sony Handycam DCR HC1000E

Advantages: Excellent Image with 3CCD, Lightweight and Easy to Use
Disadvantages: Now obsolete due to High-Def 3CCD Camcorders

...they will better the image quality. The optical super steadyshot is not really apparent unless shooting beyond the optical zoom and into digital zoom territory - which I don't advise doing because you degrade your image by zooming in on the CCD and using less pixels. However, if you do choose to do this then its works well, but obviously only gets rid of small movements!! Having said this, the optical zoom of 12x should be sufficient for most people, and 150x many more times than anyone would require unless star watching is their thing. The lens used on this camcorder, as with the whole Sony range, is a Carl Zeiss lens. These lenses have become famous for a very good reason - they are so damn good! The imaging technology from Sony is only one thing that makes this system so good - the other being the quality of the lenses used...

  It's a sony!

Advantages: slim, good music player

...I've always loved Sony Ericsson (henceforth referred to as SE) phones, as they have great features and are usually pretty reliable. One thing that's often let them down though is that they just ain't that pretty. Well, SE have finally woken up and begun to deal with this problem. The w880i is a lovely looking phone, with its brushed stainless steel silver front (or black if you prefer), and its matt black plastic back (say that ten times fast!) (Oh, if you get the black front then the back is orange). It's also only 9.4mm thick. Wow! It's a walkman! Ok, so SE has come through on the looks department but what about the features? Well, the w880i is one of SE's walkman (hence the w) branded phones so it's designed to work as a music player as well as a phone. Let's talk about music first. Advantages: Good battery time, easy to transport and use
Disadvantages: Poor reliability, started to skip after 2yrs despite anti-skip

...I purchased this quite a long time ago, prior to the mp3 craze. I wanted it to use on the school bus and the lengthy playback persuaded me to purchase it over other models. The design is quite nice, at the time it was the slimmest cd player and the metal ring on the lid is a nice touch. If you want to get the full 115 hours of battery life you need to attach a battery connecting pouch which hangs from the cd player ruining the design. If you use the internal battery you get roughly 41 hrs from it. The addition of a remote is quite useful and good to have as to buy it separately it's not cheap. Although there is anti-skip on the cd player I found that after a year or two on the school bus it did begin to skip and I'd have to hold the cd player at certain angles which definitely wasn't what I'd expected considering the price tag...

Sony NW-A1000: Small, stylish,

Advantages: Size, style, quality, battery life.
Disadvantages: Software

...I had my eyes on this player for a long time, and finally decided to treat myself and buy one. I was not disappointed! With the NW-A1000, Sony have managed to create a small, incredibly portable and stylish player, with great sound quality and superb battery life. The design is quite unique - when turned off, the intuitive screen blends into the player. The first issue on most people's minds with regards to this model is whether it is worth paying a little bit extra and buying the size up, with a 20GB hard drive. Another member of my family had this model, and I personally found it a little too large in dimensions. It didn't slip into my pocket easily, and was bulkier in my hands than my smaller 6GB model. Even though the machine is "only" 6GB, it can cope with more songs than a standard player due to the ATRAC compression...

A Great System from Sony

Advantages: Nice Classy Design, Great Graphics, and a Good Online
Disadvantages: Small Gamelist Thus Far and Some Games Suffer From Framerate and Graphical Pop-Up Issues

...of the greatest features i like is being able to access the regular internet. Sony just recently came out with Home, which is pretty much their family friendly version of the program Second Life. The only real problems i've experienced with this online is that it isn't as fast as Xbox Live and is also slow on downloads. The Playstation Network does suffer from a great deal of slowdown moments at times and you'll find that you're connection will jump up and down on some occasions but that's really about it. Downloading games or add-ons to your games is much slower then Xbox Live, which is a real pain when the files are extremely large. One of the biggest disadvantages that the PS3 has when compared to the 360 and Wii is the size of its game library. The PS3 thus far has the smallest gamelist out of all three systems but that isn't saying that the PS3...

...The Sony Walkman NW-A1000 6Gb MP3 player is very user friendly. It has more than enough space to store most of the music you would need for the car or gym. As Sony were the original personal music centre creators, its kind of ironic that they have made a good, usable music player. The player itself is more blue in colour rather than violet (although the earphones definately look violet - I've replaced them for other Sony earphones) You need Sonic stage software rather than the 'Connect' software that it comes with, this can sometimes struggle to convert MP3s onto the player which is a pain. It means that on occasion, because the mp3 format isn't recognised (God Knows Why?) you need to burn the files onto a CD, then import the CD onto the music library for placing onto the MP3 Player. I've not had any issues with the device...

...Having just recently won a competition to spend a night with the PS3 I figured it would be a smart idea to do a personal review of the console which everyone will be talking about (in the UK) in a few weeks to come.
