A quality camcorder case

...Having spent £££ on a Sony digicam, I was a bit surprised that it didn't come with a case to protect my investment. So, about three months ago I bought the LCS-VA5 case for £39 from a supplier link on Ciao. This compact case is made of high quality materials and provides solid padding all round. The main compartment is semi-rigid with adjustable dividers to accomodate different sizes of camcorder. There are zipped compartments on the front and sides giving plenty of space for a charger, spare batteries, spare tapes, etc. It also has a 'hidden compartment' at the bottom which adds to the padding if not being used. It has a large, padded carry strap and metal clips and zips which adds to its feeling of quality. Canon DCC-90 soft case... A FRAUD!

Advantages: Nice looking, lightweight, has belt loop too
Disadvantages: Canon S5 doesn't fit at all, no extra pockets and too expensive

I own a Canon digital camera S5 IS and since the size of this camera is quite weird (not as big as Reflex cameras but neither small enough to fit in common camera cases) I found very hard to find a proper case for it. Advantages: Perfect for carrying your camera, memory and batteries

...If you have a digital camera, you will probably be taking it places with you to take photos... You will also need some way of carrying it with you. The LCS CP2 (very technical sounding name!) is the carry case designed specifically designed for the Sony DSCP range of digital cameras such as the DSC P72. As you?d expect, its dimensions are exact to the size of the camera and therefore produce a very good fit. There is a smaller zip pouch on the front which has enough room for extra memory cards and spare batteries which is useful. It is light and may give your camera some protection from knocks with light padding (but I wouldn?t test it out it I were you). It also has an alterable shoulder strap to make it easier to carry. Great Case For Sony Cyber-Shot Camera

I checked the Canon website and found a chart showing that the DCC-80 soft case was the one recommended for my camera. I found the DCC-80 case listed on Amazon.com for £10.99. However, on the Amazon site, it was listed as being compatible with the A710 IS, AS700, A540, A530, A520 and A510... the A560 was not listed! However, the listing on the Canon site (in the downloadable brochure), along with the fact that I know that the A550 is the same size as the A560, made me press ahead and buy the case. Advantages: Protects.
Disadvantages: None.

...First the technical stuff, the case is made of plastic, ethylene-vinyl acetate actually, which is a form of soft thermoplastic, including recycled materials, so you could say you are doing your bit for the environment. The outer covering is hardwearing Nylon. The carry case comes complete with a wrist strap, although personally I would not trust it. It has an improved zip, apparently the old one was prone to jamming. The picture Ciao have put up is of the old model, the new one is very similar, just a little more subtle. These cases are a good idea for keeping dust and scratches at bay, however, it may have been a better idea if the case was fitted with belt loops, so you could carry it on your belt, or a strap like binoculars have, rather than risk it slipping out of your pocket, or even leaving it in the car.
