Reviews of sony mdx
old but superb
Review of Sony DHC-MDX 10 by
earthy
Advantages: name brand and top quality
Disadvantages: sometimes too loud
...I know that this stereo is a little on the old side now, i've had mine for three years, but still i've had no reason to exchange it for a new one yet.
the look of the stereo is still modern, it hasn't aged very much because the brushed aluminium look and silver looks are still in fashion and thats the only colour that you could get the mdx10 in.
but ignoring the look the level of usable extras in the stereo are very high, and many of them are unique to sony, for instance the 'sync eq' (syncronised equaliser) is used to optimise the sound of every song or track played ie: if you put on a hard rock track with lots of drums and overpowering guitars the sync eq will lower the level of the guitars and raise the level of the vocals, or if you put on hard house then the high frequency notes are raised slightly and the bass lowered...

I love it!
Review of Sony DHC-MDX 10 by
tomrange
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Quite expensive, but worth it.
...I was looking for a stereo system with a mini-disc, and lots of buttons, for under£400. The only one which matched these criteria, and caught my eye was the Sony DHC-MDX 10. The space-age design is fantastic. Basically, it is mostly shiny silver with a large digital display. The disply shows you the track names, time remainig etc, and has special effects which 'dance' with the music. What I love about this system is the range of ooptions to tweak to improve the sound quality of your music. there are also some DJ functions which allow you to do things like repeat parts of a song(like scratching a record) or 'flash' the song which turns the volume up and down.
The sound quality is amazing and the speakers can produce ridiculously loud sound. Useful for listening to music while in the garden.(Just face the speakers out of the window...

Sony Minidisc Player
Review of Sony MDX C7900R by
GaryWilde
Advantages: price, easy to use, no stupid graphics, good sound
Disadvantages: none
...I bought this Sony Mindisc Player about a year ago. I am using it with a decent external amp, and good speakers.
The sound is excellent. I listen to al sorts of music, especially dance music, and it copes well with anything.
I wanted a player which looked stylish. Some in car entertainment looks like a 1980 s video game with silly neon lights, pointless graphics darting all over the place. This unit is very sensible, and logical.
It is very easy to use. When I am bombing along, I like the fact that I can do the basic functions without thinking. I don't want to be fiddling with 8 different microscopic buttons to change track.
The background light can be changed orange/green to match your car's light colour.
It can be hooked up to an external cd changer if required....

Prepare for foul car kareoke
Review of Sony MDXCA680 by
pleaseratemyreview
Advantages: simple, well made, looks, features.
Disadvantages: theiving eyes
...out to be full of my phobias, and the final one I'm going to mention is theft. I loath the thought of returning to my car to find the window smashed in, and my new minidisc player ripped out by someone intent upon ruining my day. To deter such people, Sony have made it so that the faceplate can be detached from the main unit, and stored safely in a supplied box. This gives me some comfort, but I am now faced with the problem of what to do with the faceplate, and the annoyance of having to remove it all of the time. Having said this, it is definitely a bonus to have such a feature.
Now I come to the all important price. Minidisc players such as this one, especially that can play MDLP (longplay) seem to be incredibly rare, being not nearly as popular as CD or MP3. Considering this, the price of the MDX-CA680X is very satisfactory...

One of the cheapest, still good though
Review of Sony MDX C5960R by
almillar
Advantages: Great with the MDs, great display
Disadvantages: Radio average, amp weak
...This was the base model of Sonys in car minidisc players. I put in in my Renault Clio and bought a lead made by Autoparts to make it take commands from the fingertip controls that were already installed in the car. You can buy these leads for many other cars with this kind of setup, but I think that Sony are the only head units that will take them - very handy. Ive had it for over 6 months now.
It plays Minidiscs well, I havent had a single skip and I drive on bumpy roads a lot, the track access is comparable with portable players, not with home players, but certainly as quick as most car CD players.
The tuner is quite good, full RDS etc with a great display but the reception is no better than the unit it replaced.
The amplifier in it is the only thing that really disappoints. 4x35 sounds pretty good for a base model but even...

Loads of dynamic control in a tiny space!
Review of Behringer MDX 4600 by
Mr__Steve
Advantages: 4 channels of compression in 1 rack space, low noise, good metering.
Disadvantages: Lacks custom attack/release time controls
...I purchased this unit as I needed 4 channels of compression/gating but didn't have the rack space for a couple of 2 channel units. The MDX4600 has a lot of features such as de-esser, enhancer, noise gate, channel coupling, but lacks things like custom attack and release timings for the compressors, found on the MDX 2600 for example.
The dials on the front of the unit feel solid to use and notch in to place nicely for accurate control.
The unit is more or less noise free too, which is means Behringer have used good components inside. A lot of their rack gear is highly rated, especially their compressors, and used by professional musicians all over the world.
A good unit for the price, good features and only takes up one rack space. Recommended purchase for a gigging band!
Mine was purchased from Dolphin Music, for £80.99, via...

Enter the Sony!
Review of Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A350K by
thebigc1690
Advantages: Packed with extras, looks good and feels good.
Disadvantages: See review for the very minor con`s.
...Sony are one of the newest companies to venture into the world of DSLR`s, having been producing some quite excellent point and shoot cameras for many years this is a move that most people in the photography world had expected to happen a long time ago and a lot had feared the day it did happen too.
The reason many photographers feared Sony entering the DSLR market is simply that it would be hard not to get drawn into what they had to offer but they feared that Sony might find the market too challenging and bale out leaving many photographers with cameras that they could not upgrade and would struggle to find lenses and accessories for.
When buying a point and shoot camera you are spending in the region of between 100 and 200 pounds for a top of the range model, whilst when purchasing a DSLR camera you could be looking at spending...

Sony, help...I've lost my memory
Review of Sony CLIÉ PEG-S300E by
rayliu
Advantages: Useful 'Gadget' to have to if your not very good at remembering things (i.e. me). Its Sony so its well designed and Jog Dial is fantastic. Palm OS PDA is great.
Disadvantages: Its a PDA so only has a lifespan of a year unless you are satisfied with it. Memory Stick is expensive and you cant run programs from it.
...(Operating System) type of PDA’s left and even then I had so many choices. There are 3 companies that make Palm OS PDAs, which are Palm, Handspring and Sony.
The choice of Palm OS PDA’s for under £100 was limited. There was the Palm 105, which was retailing at about £80 and the Handspring Visor Edge at £99. The Palm 105 didn’t appealed because it had no expandability slot to add more memory later, the screen size was too small and the unit was fairly chunky. The Handspring on the other hand was very sleek looking with an aluminium exterior but had sacrificed some usability and functionality for looks. Palm had also releases a new £80 Zire PDA but with only 2MB of memory and no expandability option, it had too little memory for loading on further applications later.
The Visor Edge was my first choice, but then I realised I had the option...
