Mine was originally obtained from a contract a few years back but it's currently worth around £70 when bought new, but much less on eBay. It's a candy bar phone with a camera and the ability of playing MP3s out loud. NAVIGATION Navigation is very zippy and I've not experienced any crashes. Disadvantages: No headphone jack, space slightly cramped with buttons, requires seperate sound card for cueing

...supplied with the virtual dj software which basicaly works like your top end mp3 mixing softwares such as final scratch by stanton. on screen you see two turntables where you can load up a song on each, there is a virtual mixer on screen allowing you to fade between tracks like the real thing, the software can be used on its own and when you hook up the unit you get a more realistic hands on dj feel. ...Bought the 512mb model for £39.99 from Argos as I wanted a small & simple MP3 player & Sony's products are usually pretty good. It looks like a memory stick & is about the same size & weight. This basic model will hold approx 15 albums worth of music & comes with a basic ear piece, CD to load on Sony software & a pile of instruction manuals in different langauges(?!) There is no charging lead so charging is carried out by plugging the unit into a computer with the USB connector loctaed under the removable cap. A power monkey can also be used if you have one. Battery life is decent & although short of features this little MP3 player plays good quailty sound with four simple controls plus a 'lock' feature. But in the technological age we live this product won't be able to turn many heads. The sony D-NE511/S comes with power compression software which allows you to put up to 30 CD's onto one CD and play it through your D-NE511/S. The missing word in that sentence is ONLY...these compressed CD's can only be played through sony walkmans with ATRAC recording technology which makes it hard if you want to share your newly created mixes with friends. I ended up buying a Sony D-NE511 Atrac / Mp3 Portable Discman for £60. Oops. Sony produce a range of these Atrac discmans and as you would expect the more you pay, the better the features. But I went for the D-NE511 model because it seemed to have everything I needed, despite being the cheapest in the range. Beside the player itself the box contains a power adapter, software cd, user guide, software instruction booklet and headphones. ...MP3.com is a site which consists of a huge database of legal(yes legal) mp3 files for your downloading pleasure. If you are looking to uncover the next Oasis then this is probably one of the better places to start as there are some really good bands etc. on here...if you can find them... The main problem which I find with this site is that it is simply so huge. There are literally thousands of mp3s on here by numerous artists and trawling through the chaff to reach the corn is something of a life-shortening experience. Sadly it is moe likely that you will prefer to use something like Napster and find the files by artists you already know and like rather than seeking out ones you have never heard of at mp3.com. Overall, a great idea and a site which is easy to use and navigate, but the easy option is always best so unless you have...

Amazon MP3 is an excellent alternative to 'itunes' and 'napster'

Advantages: DRM free MP3s play on all computers / mp3 players, and copied endlessly, huge variety, good prices
Disadvantages: Download program needed for multiple song downloads, but this is also occurs with main rivals

...I don't have an ipod, I am very happy with my MP3 player and don't plan to buy an ipod. All of my music is organised in Windows Media Player,and I wanted to keep it that way. I didn't want to mess up my carefully organised system, but I really wanted to start downloading music (without doing so illegally). I didn't want the itunes or napster programs on my computer, then I discoverend Amazon MP3 music download. Most importantly - Amazon MP3s are DRM free. DRM (digital rights management) found on itunes and napster tracks, involve software that restricts the tracks being played to the computer they were originally purchased on (and 2 or 3 nominated computers that also have naptster / itunes installed).
