...I was given this player to keep me occupied on my many long bus and train journeys. THE PLAYER This is a Japanese mp3 and CD player, which comes in a silver and blue top with a grey base. It is 13cmx13cmx2½cm which is about average size, so its more bag sized than pocket sized. It comes with an adapter and ear bud type headphones. It only has a small display area, so only displays limited information on it, such as which track and album or how long the song has been playing for. There are also little icons to display what modes you have it on, which are discussed later. The buttons are fairly small, so not fab it you are fumbling about in the dark or going under a tunnel, or if you have any arthritic type problems that makes it difficult to press small buttons. ...myself on Amazon.co.uk looking for something to the value of about £3 to take my order over the £25 mark in order to qualify for free delivery. I ended up buying a Sony D-NE511 Atrac / Mp3 Portable Discman for £60. Oops. Sony produce a range of these Atrac discmans and as you would expect the more you pay, the better the features. But I went for the D-NE511 model because it seemed to have everything I needed, despite being the cheapest in the range. Beside the player itself the box contains a power adapter, software cd, user guide, software instruction booklet and headphones. The units come in a few different colours if that sort of thing concerns you. Sonys newest MP3/CD player is up against my test

Advantages: Sleek, slender, small weight and a stylish design

But in the technological age we live this product won't be able to turn many heads. The sony D-NE511/S comes with power compression software which allows you to put up to 30 CD's onto one CD and play it through your D-NE511/S. The missing word in that sentence is ONLY...these compressed CD's can only be played through sony walkmans with ATRAC recording technology which makes it hard if you want to share your newly created mixes with friends. The same software also lets you make CD's containing loads of mp3 files (not sure on a certain number as i have never had enough mp3 files to push...

CD/MP3 player of kings

...Whenever I?ve had to choose a CD player like this, for me or for a present, the first thing I look at is the battery time. This is what first led me to this player, it advertises 30+ hours of CD playback and 48 hours of mp3 playback (these are for non-stop playback, with no skipping. Using the skip a lot will reduce battery time and giving it resting time between playbacks increases battery time.) Those numbers seemed pretty amazing to me from just 2AA batteries. So I bought it.... The round shape looks great and I can?t see how a CD player could get much smaller. It feels very well built, and it takes very big bumps (unusually big) to get it to skip. The remote control is useful for whenever you are carrying it around in your pocket or a bag and don?t want to have to reach into your pocket and fumble around for the buttons...

An Atrac-tive player

...Once upon a time I had a car, and it had a radio that didn't work and a cassette player that did. So I used to tape my CD's onto cassettes to listen to in the car. This wasn't ideal, after all a tape only plays for a relatively short time before it needs turning over, but that was all I had. Then I saw an advert in the paper for the Sony D-NE518CK , a CD/mp3 player which came with a car kit that simply went into the cassette slot and you could get upto 30 hours of music one disc. ...Good All-round head unit, Quick Install and Good Sound Quality My Lust for all things Sony continued when I had to replace my old Sony CDX-MP40 head unit. The old unit was exceptional and had lasted me 4-5 years so my expectations were high and so far I haven't beed dissappointed but I guess only another 5 years will show whether sonys have improved. But what I can say is as follows: Sound Quality - very good, stereo output is very crisp and the choice of equaliser options is better. Bass sounds better too and doesn't distort even at louder volumes. I found the chemical brothers best hits were a good test for this. Features are excellent and include MP3, CD, Radio, USB and Aux input for your ipod, flash drive or a good tip is to get one of those mini usb hard drives which you can copy hundreds of tracks onto. ...I came across this product whilst bored after doing my homework, fantasising about an ipod so I could store all my music. Whilst searching around the Internet I stumbled over many CD Mp3 players. I'd never heard of them before so I was intrigued to find out more. I had owned a Sony Minidisc player for about 2 years, and had become fed up with having to change the Minidisc every so often (yes I'm very lazy!) and it had become broken and did not want to send it of to the manufacturers to mend it which would have been very costly. A CD Mp3 player can store up to 30 albums onto one CD. This is very handy and by far easier than my previous Minidisc player is. Sony CDX-MP40 CD Radio MP3 Car Stereo

Advantages: Looks Great, Sounds Great and plays MP3s

...Stylish and sleek MP3 CD Radio Head unit. Looks great in your car and sound quality is excellent. I have owned this Head unit for 4 years and it has lasted me really well. First of all the Radio has plenty of presets that can be used to store all your favourite stations quickly and easily. It benefits from FM, MWand LW radio which I use for listening to the cricket. The CD player is excellent too, no problems, doesn't skip and you can play CD-R, CD-RW and your MP3 Discs which is great for all your downloaded music. It comes with a remote which I have always found a bit strange for a car stereo... consequently I have never used it but I'm sure it is very useful if you need that kind of thing for a drive by party or something. Only downside is that the volume down button has become difficult to press and the unit sometimes...
