The Sony A818 is an excellent device with only 1/2 minor faults

Advantages: Excellent sound quality, great headphones, cheap, impressive battery life.
Disadvantages: No podcasts or on-the-go playlists

...you have stopped watching is a great feature. It is simple to drag and drop videos into the folder on the computer, however they need to be the correct format and resolution to play on the A818. Video quality is very good (as fine as possible on a small screen) and I can watch films easily on it. Battery life is superior (over 30 hours) and it can keep on pumping out the tunes for days. This is great as I don't have to charge it every single night. The only things that I have found missing from the Sony (in comparison with the iPod) are podcasts and on-the-go playlists. However these are in no way essential, it is just annoying that these features are not there. I would definitely recommend the Sony A818....

...I loved the iPODs when they first came out but I had also then read a lot of reviews on Sony products and decided to go for them instead. I'm very glad now that I did. The player is of an average size for an 8GB player, being small and sleek. The menus are very straight forward as the layout is like the one of a mobile phone. There is no click wheel but the navigation is very easy and practical as the scrolling is based on search through the alphabetical order. This great gadget works straight out the box and I never even bothered with the manual. It's simply so easy to navigate through and work out the buttons that you'll be enjoying your favourite tunes in no time. Advantages: Excellent sound quality and slimline and portable
Disadvantages: Not Capatible with WMA as mentioned Can't transfer from MP3 to PC

...Ultra slim but a very good MP3 player with excellent sound quality also on a full charge you are able to get at least 7hours or so of continuious usage from this great piece of equipment, you can also store pics, clip footage, only main draw backs I found that the software was very restricted to Sony and even though it explains on their package box WMA files can be used on the MP3 it's not the case it's MP3 and some of the other larger files it's uses but converts them to it's own style of Sony file. I also found transfering music onto the MP3 a doddle, but visa versa was extremely difficult or too much of a hassle to be honest and NOT AT ALL user friendly! but they have a helpline that wasn't too bad the software for it on the PC again is pretty good but as mentioned again has the above limitations but all in all a very good MP3...

...I was originally thinking of buying the 4GB one but I bought it at the local SonyCentre and they had an offer with which I got a black leather case, worth £20, for free. It's got a nice high quality 2.0" screen on which videos stream with outstanding quality. It plays videos in MP4 and AVC format and it might seem a hassle to convert avi or mpeg fiels into MP4 or AVC formats but there are tons of converters out there and it's easy to get hold of one. You can play videos both horizontally and vertically but you have to set it accordingly (I thought it might change as you tilt the mp3 player like on some phones but didn't work ^^). As always with the Sony Walkman products, the sound quality is superb and you get some nice headphones with the mp3 player, worth £40 if you want to buy them separately. The headphones come wit 3...

...I had my eyes on this player for a long time, and finally decided to treat myself and buy one. I was not disappointed! With the NW-A1000, Sony have managed to create a small, incredibly portable and stylish player, with great sound quality and superb battery life. The design is quite unique - when turned off, the intuitive screen blends into the player. The first issue on most people's minds with regards to this model is whether it is worth paying a little bit extra and buying the size up, with a 20GB hard drive. Another member of my family had this model, and I personally found it a little too large in dimensions. It didn't slip into my pocket easily, and was bulkier in my hands than my smaller 6GB model. Even though the machine is "only" 6GB, it can cope with more songs than a standard player due to the ATRAC compression...

...the accompanying manual. For the most part anything above basic operation I had to discover myself. The sound quality of this unit is very good, even with the headphones that come with it. With a small tweak of the equalizer I've always been able to attain a good sound. My only criticism would be the volume level; on older, quieter tracks, when walking next to a busy road the unit just doesn't go loud enough. The unit I have is the 1gb version. How much music you get on here depends on the format and bitrate quality of your tracks. The unit will play MP3's as well as Sony's ALTRAC format. At bitrates varying from 192-320kbps MP3 I've been able to get about 20 albums worth on here. Sony reckon that if you use their ALTRAC format at 64kbps you can get up to 45 albums on here. I haven't used their format so I can't comment on the sound quality here...
