Also the game disks dont because as scratched as they used to. Finally the analog control ad feels much lighter than the original control pad. Also the console comes internet ready meaning that all you have to do is wire the console up to your internet connection and you can play online. With the original console you had to buy an Internet adaptor costing £20 to do so. Bad Features The tray, where you put the games in, is a flip lid. The lid is a little flimsy but should not break if your not too heavy handed with it. The tray on the original playstation 2 is much better because you press a button and the tray comes out. The new design of the console cannot stand up vertically...

...I should start by saying that I am not part of the PlayStation generation, I'm 44 and my first introduction to gaming outside of arcades was awarded to me as the result of an on line competition when I won a good old PSOne (yes, people do win those draws), that was about 7 or 8 years ago I guess. About 5 years ago I upgraded to the original PS/2 and have enjoyed many late nights / early mornings gaming on that till about 8 months ago when it gave up the ghost. With the launch of PS/3 'imminent' I thought I could wait for that - but Oh No it gets delayed and delayed again and my patience runs out. So a couple of weeks ago I find myself on Amazon making an impulse buy of the new slimline PS/2. ...The ps2 is a great console although it is almost10 years old. It has alot of features that anyone can use with ease. On it you can watch Movies, Play games and also play online with people around the world providing that you can internet access on it. there are a wide variety of games available for it and they are also quite cheap. The playstation itself can come quite cheap with prices starting at £40 in some shops. You might also want to get some accessories for it such as the vertical stand, the eyetoy camera and the DVD remote if you want one. The only bad points about the playstation i would say are the fact that it is quite fragile and would break easily....

...I think the Sony Playstation 2 is really fun and I have spent many happy hours just playing on games. It very rarely ever shuts off, it only has shut down once in the whole 3 years I've had it. Me and my brother have listened to c'ds on there and played on our playstation 1 games, so you don't have to buy the playstation 2 version of the games if you've already got the playstation 1 version. There is so many games out there you can buy for the playstation so that you'll never get bored. Although, you might want to buy a cleaning disk and now and again clean the playstation, as this prevents it from getting dusty and wrecking the games. Overall, I think this product is well worth its money and I would recommend it to anyone, as it is suitable for all age groups. ...I have to say I am a great fan of the playstation 2, my son has one and he loves to play it, as do I. Although I tend to limit the time he spends on it. I cant really find anything bad about the ps2, but lately it has been partly to blame for a few problems in my family, my younger brother who is 15 years old first got his when he was about 8 years old, he was over the moon, my mother also put a limit on the time he would spend on it. He was fine with this, he was`nt really a child who went out a lot so most of his time was spent on the playstation or having a chin wag with anyone who would listen, he was always very smart and sensible. HAS THE PLAYSTATION 2 BEEN ON THE ATKINS DIET!

Advantages: Smaller, quieter, sleaker
Disadvantages: Two controllers instead of one would be nice

...longer possible to fit a hard drive into the PS2 slimline but unless you play online games like FFXII or SocomII this should not present a major problem. Also worth noting is the fact that there are two MagicGate? ports for memory cards so you can still save your position in any games to come back to at a later time. Another smart move is to have an internal Ethernet port for network game play fitted; now you simply have to load the Sony network access disk and link your PS2 to a router to enjoy fun and games with other like minded folk. But why Sony have not included the network access disk in the box is beyond me, perhaps it is to ensure you register your PS2 as you cannot get the disk without doing so. Finally, back to the size of the console and in particular the reduction its thickness which is staggering. The old model is 2mm shy of 8cm...

...My Experience I got this gaming console as a Birthday Gift around an year ago. So I have more than 1 years experience with this product. And I think that this is a great gaming console. I use this even to listen to audio CD's and watch movies.Yes, that's right you can also watch DVD's and listen to Audio CD's but not MP3 format cd's and dvd. Even so, the graphics of the games, the speed of game play, the ease of playing games with its Dual Shock 2 Analogue Joystick( even wireless is available) is just an amazing experience. Most of the time I preffer playing Action/Shooting, Racing and Soccer games. I can even buy a multi-tap and upto 8 friends can join me in gaming with the same console. Playstation 2 - Still worth a look

Advantages: Big choice of games, can be stored flat or on its side, is a DVD player
Disadvantages: Disc read error problems do happen after alot of heavy use

...really get the best of it, it requires you to have an HD TV but im sure alot of us aren't quite there yet. Its worth buying a PS2 to get the feel of the games and enjoy them and once a year or two has passed and you've upgraded to an HD TV, by which point im hoping hte Playstation 3's price will have fallen, you could then think about upgrading it. However, I still think its worth investing in a PS2 in the meantime, the word is that the Playstation 3's backward compatibility isn't great, meaning alot of Playstation 2 games either won't work properly or won't work well (picture problems etc.) or they just plain won't work at all on the Playstation 3, so if you want to have access to particular Playstation 2 titles, you'd be best to buy the console and wait a bit longer before jumping in and investing in the newer version, in my opinion....

I share this console with my brother, so one game was his, I had Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec and my brother has Red Faction, two good games. I recommend you to buy this console if you have not already, there are loads of games that you can buy for it, loads of unique ones also (as I mean unique, I mean that it is not on any other console), If you decide to get this console, have fun with it, I sure did. My opinion on this would be, I had loads of fun on this console, I liked played it everyday, got new games, now that this new shop has opened, which is called Game Station, I now can buy cheap games, that are newish, I got Dynasty Warriors 3, Shadow Of Memories, Enter the Matrix and Timesplitters 2 from there.
