Then it wasn't so good, and wasn't really going anywhere, and needed a good kick up the jacksie. So God's computer-games specialist angels assigned Sony, the world's biggest electronics company and inventors of the walkman, to, in 1994, make the PlayStation. It revamped the gaming world, turned the gaming industry into bigger bucks than the film industry, and made thumb-tapping at home cool again. And it was good. And they were pleased. ...I am sure you can tell from the name of this product, Sony PlayStation2 Slimline, that this product is alot smaller in size and shape to its bidder brother, The Sony Playstation2. This new design was released in September 2004 and overall, it is much prefered to its previous because of its weight, size, sound and mobility. In my opinion, the slimline model is much more attractive than the origonal one because it is so much smaller. The thickness of this product has been reduced to under 3cm which is almost one third the thickness of the older version. As a result, the PlayStation2 Slimline looks much more compact and in my view, the smaller the better. Furthermore, not only has the size of the product been reduced, but also te weight too, which again, adds to the appeal of the product. Overall the slimline version has lost half... Read review

Advantages: Cheap Blu-Ray player, stunning visuals, free online gameplay, fun tilt controls, excellent multimedia playback.
Disadvantages: Expensive, lack of PS2 game playback.

...playback etc. In summary, whilst the Wii may be fun, and the 360 may have more games, the PlayStation 3 feels far more next gen, with the addition of Blu-Ray playback and a very slick overall feel, it seems as though Sony may have pulled it all together very well indeed. The price remains an issue, but if you can afford one then I would certainly recommend this over all the next-gen consoles.... Read review

I bought it for £150 for just the console out of game! Advantages: Smooth game play, versatile functions, Wi-Fi
Disadvantages: Bulky for 'pocket'; a little too weighty; awkward in hand

...before I even started looking. My decision to do this wasn't based on the machine's capabilities - it is brilliant - or its flexibility to work with the GameCube, which was potentially a marketing coup for the Japanese company, but simply because I have never really liked Nintendo's graphics or gameplay and that Mario character with the ding-dong theme tune drives me insane. Sadly, until Sony announced its PSP, there were very few alternatives in the handheld arena, so I stuck it out with the PS2 and the wife's whisperedmutterings until the PlayStation Portable was released and then I waited a little longer until it came down to a reasonable price. And then I pleaded with my wife to let me have one, using such pathetic utterings as: "you want me to be happy don't you?" and: "you can watch Heartbeat on Sunday nights now," and finally... ...controller just like the classic PS1/PS2 the design stayed the same. This is the perfect controller I cannot say anything about the slick design. As you may know this controller is wireless so you may use it from anywhere in the room so no messy wires hanging around. And the battery lasts very long I don't have to charge it very often but i don't play hours every day either. Only bad this about this controller is that unlike the PS1/PS2 controllers this does not have dual shock so there is no rumble which is a shame. This is because Sony could not get rights for the technology. Sony what happened? Well good news this controller is being released again next year as Dual Shock 3 is coming out. So if you want to get additional controllers I recommend you to wait for it to come out as it is a great feature. The feeling for the game is lost... Read review

...This device is extremely easy to install, even for those who just know how to open a tin can. It looks like little black box, which turns your PlayStation 2 into a network/internet gaming device. It allows you to experience online game play. Basically, it fits onto the back of your PlayStation 2, secured by some screws. Once you have it installed, you will be able to connect your PlayStation 2 to your broadband Internet connection via an Ethernet cable. What I didn't realise when I purchased mine, was that it was not possible to simply get a network card and attach the PS2, using an Ethernet cable to the PC in order to get an internet connection. Instead, you must get yourself a router, possibly with a built in Modem. My ISP is, however, AOL. AOL provides you with a BT Voyager USB ADSL Modem, which cannot be connected... Read review

Advantages: Loads of games, doubles up as a DvD player, plays PS1 games.
Disadvantages: Needs a mulitap for 3 players or more, Games should be cheaper.
