...The Playstation 2 has sold in excess of over 100 million consoles since it was released back in 2000. When orginally released the Playstation 2 was much larger in size than the slimline version which Sony released in 2004. I am going to look into what are the benefits of the new system and look at the good and bad features. Good Features The Slimline Playstation 2 is much quieter than the original console because it simply looks much better, the slim design is better on the eye and also it is less noisy as the console does not have a fan. Instead it uses air vents to keep the console cool. It does the job to be honest because I owned the console for over 2 years and it has never crashed or overheated. ...The ps2 is a great console although it is almost10 years old. It has alot of features that anyone can use with ease. On it you can watch Movies, Play games and also play online with people around the world providing that you can internet access on it. there are a wide variety of games available for it and they are also quite cheap. The playstation itself can come quite cheap with prices starting at £40 in some shops. You might also want to get some accessories for it such as the vertical stand, the eyetoy camera and the DVD remote if you want one. The only bad points about the playstation i would say are the fact that it is quite fragile and would break easily....

...need to be sensible about the time spent on it as it is really hard to put it down once you have started playing, I can sit for hours and play it, but not to the extent it affects everyday life. The playstation 2 is great for kids when used sensible, the graphics are great and there is a wide selection of games for all ages, which are marked clearly on the game covers, its easy and fun to use. the Playstation itself now costs around £100 and the games vary in price, depending on how up to date they are. You can also get package deals were you might get the console and 2 or 3 games included. there are different package deals out there, so you would need to shop about for an idea on the package deal prices. I am not sure about these prices as I bought my sons 2 years ago. I dont mean to put anyone of the ps2 because if you are sensible...

Playstation 2 - Still worth a look

Advantages: Big choice of games, can be stored flat or on its side, is a DVD player
Disadvantages: Disc read error problems do happen after alot of heavy use

...really get the best of it, it requires you to have an HD TV but im sure alot of us aren't quite there yet. Its worth buying a PS2 to get the feel of the games and enjoy them and once a year or two has passed and you've upgraded to an HD TV, by which point im hoping hte Playstation 3's price will have fallen, you could then think about upgrading it. However, I still think its worth investing in a PS2 in the meantime, the word is that the Playstation 3's backward compatibility isn't great, meaning alot of Playstation 2 games either won't work properly or won't work well (picture problems etc.) or they just plain won't work at all on the Playstation 3, so if you want to have access to particular Playstation 2 titles, you'd be best to buy the console and wait a bit longer before jumping in and investing in the newer version, in my opinion....

...I think the Sony Playstation 2 is really fun and I have spent many happy hours just playing on games. It very rarely ever shuts off, it only has shut down once in the whole 3 years I've had it. Me and my brother have listened to c'ds on there and played on our playstation 1 games, so you don't have to buy the playstation 2 version of the games if you've already got the playstation 1 version. There is so many games out there you can buy for the playstation so that you'll never get bored. Although, you might want to buy a cleaning disk and now and again clean the playstation, as this prevents it from getting dusty and wrecking the games. Overall, I think this product is well worth its money and I would recommend it to anyone, as it is suitable for all age groups. ...fine, nothing wrong with it as far as i can hear. Controller - Comfortable, not as good as an XBOX360 controller but then, what is? Games - Just about every genre of game is on the PS2, there are masses of games to be played and they are all fairly cheap nowadays. Also plays some of the greatest games of all time like Final Fantasy, Grand theft auto and Need for Speed. Extras - It uses memory cards so you can use your save game on other people playstation - Until recently I found out that the removable plastic section at the back is for a harddrive (this is not in the slimline version) - It can be connected to the internet (for multiplater etc) - It can use a range of accesories, eyetoy (camera), steering wheels, guns, microphones, skateboards and even chainsaws. Even though it is 'out of date' it still have hours of play value....

...The PS2 is great. It's got good graphics, loads of games and it Plays DVD's and CD's. Soon you'll be able to go online and play games online as well. I got one of these for christmas, but prior to purchasing it I had a bit of a dilema, 'Should I buy a PS2 or an XBOX?'(I didn't even consider the Nintendo Gamecube because it doesn't play DVD's, and it has about two must have games. PLUS; IT'S A CUBE!). Anyway, I really didn't know what to get, they both had their advantages and dissadvantages. It came down to two simple reasons why I chose the PS2.
