...The Playstation 2 has sold in excess of over 100 million consoles since it was released back in 2000. When orginally released the Playstation 2 was much larger in size than the slimline version which Sony released in 2004. I am going to look into what are the benefits of the new system and look at the good and bad features. Good Features The Slimline Playstation 2 is much quieter than the original console because it simply looks much better, the slim design is better on the eye and also it is less noisy as the console does not have a fan. Instead it uses air vents to keep the console cool. It does the job to be honest because I owned the console for over 2 years and it has never crashed or overheated. Slimline Playstation 2

Advantages: Small, Lightweight, Looks nice, Cheap , Watch movies, loads of games, online gameplay

...The ps2 is a great console although it is almost10 years old. It has alot of features that anyone can use with ease. On it you can watch Movies, Play games and also play online with people around the world providing that you can internet access on it. there are a wide variety of games available for it and they are also quite cheap. The playstation itself can come quite cheap with prices starting at £40 in some shops. You might also want to get some accessories for it such as the vertical stand, the eyetoy camera and the DVD remote if you want one. The only bad points about the playstation i would say are the fact that it is quite fragile and would break easily....

...I should start by saying that I am not part of the PlayStation generation, I'm 44 and my first introduction to gaming outside of arcades was awarded to me as the result of an on line competition when I won a good old PSOne (yes, people do win those draws), that was about 7 or 8 years ago I guess. About 5 years ago I upgraded to the original PS/2 and have enjoyed many late nights / early mornings gaming on that till about 8 months ago when it gave up the ghost. With the launch of PS/3 'imminent' I thought I could wait for that - but Oh No it gets delayed and delayed again and my patience runs out. Slim Shady Playstation 2

...After having purchased a standard sized playstation 2 console in 2001, I decided to sell my console on ebay towards the end of 2005 when the slimline playstation 2 console was unveilled to the world. Why did I chose to sell the console that had worked for the last 4 years, for a siver slimline playstation 2? The new slimline playstation two has been reduced in size from the previous version by 75%., the weight has been halved and the and thickness trimmed down to 2.8 cm, from 7.8 cm. Equipped with an integrated Ethernet port for network gaming, the new PlayStation 2 sets new standards in the fusion of design and functionality. The slimline playstation 2 has a new flip lid instead of the motorised draw. The flid lid is a little flimsy but I suppose there was no room for a motorised draw on the slimline version. ...THE SOFTWARE The PlayStation 2 is the best console of it's generation and arguably the best of all time, with thousands of great games and a large back catalogue of PS1 games, you can always pick up a good game for a bargain. Just because the newer PlayStation 3 is out, doesn't mean that you shouldn't buy a PS2, Its at a cheap price and would cost you 150 pounds to buy the console, some games and get it hooked up online, whereas next gen consoles could cost up to 500 pounds (excluding the Wii, which would take about 250). What I'm saying is, it may be "last gen" but it's great, fun and best of all; Cheap! The PlayStation 2 is a must buy for hardcore and casual gamers alike, if you are casual, play EyeToy Play (camera and game costs 20 pounds these days). If you are hardcore, then God of War and Final Fantasy are great for you...

...I am sure you can tell from the name of this product, Sony PlayStation2 Slimline, that this product is alot smaller in size and shape to its bidder brother, The Sony Playstation2. This new design was released in September 2004 and overall, it is much prefered to its previous because of its weight, size, sound and mobility. In my opinion, the slimline model is much more attractive than the origonal one because it is so much smaller. The thickness of this product has been reduced to under 3cm which is almost one third the thickness of the older version. As a result, the PlayStation2 Slimline looks much more compact and in my view, the smaller the better. Furthermore, not only has the size of the product been reduced, but also te weight too, which again, adds to the appeal of the product. Overall the slimline version has lost half...

...fine, nothing wrong with it as far as i can hear. Controller - Comfortable, not as good as an XBOX360 controller but then, what is? Games - Just about every genre of game is on the PS2, there are masses of games to be played and they are all fairly cheap nowadays. Also plays some of the greatest games of all time like Final Fantasy, Grand theft auto and Need for Speed. Extras - It uses memory cards so you can use your save game on other people playstation - Until recently I found out that the removable plastic section at the back is for a harddrive (this is not in the slimline version) - It can be connected to the internet (for multiplater etc) - It can use a range of accesories, eyetoy (camera), steering wheels, guns, microphones, skateboards and even chainsaws. Even though it is 'out of date' it still have hours of play value....

This console is not dead yet

Advantages: Cheap, fun, good games, plays DVD`s
Disadvantages: Not got all the latest features

...I have had a Playstation 2 for about 4 years now and before that had a Playstation one. After hours and hours of entertainment and fun I felt that I should write a review about it. Look- The Playstation 2 looks reasonably small and has managed to not need any repairs or break down for four years! The PS2 is very easy to use and has controllers like every games console. The controllers are very easy to use and have a nice feel to them. You can also get wireless controllers but you have to pay more for these. Games- The PS2 has had many brilliant games which is the reason why I still play on it to this day. There had been many classics on the PS2 like Fifa, Gran Turismo, Tomb Raider, Ratchet and Clank and many more great games that have kept me entertained for years. The games are all stored on a CD/DVD like disc instead...

Playstation 2 - Still worth a look

Advantages: Big choice of games, can be stored flat or on its side, is a DVD player
Disadvantages: Disc read error problems do happen after alot of heavy use

...really get the best of it, it requires you to have an HD TV but im sure alot of us aren't quite there yet. Its worth buying a PS2 to get the feel of the games and enjoy them and once a year or two has passed and you've upgraded to an HD TV, by which point im hoping hte Playstation 3's price will have fallen, you could then think about upgrading it. However, I still think its worth investing in a PS2 in the meantime, the word is that the Playstation 3's backward compatibility isn't great, meaning alot of Playstation 2 games either won't work properly or won't work well (picture problems etc.) or they just plain won't work at all on the Playstation 3, so if you want to have access to particular Playstation 2 titles, you'd be best to buy the console and wait a bit longer before jumping in and investing in the newer version, in my opinion....
