Advantages: Good features, music, videos, internet access, good availibility of games
Disadvantages: Not as advanced as newer consoles/gadgets

...The Sony PSP was revolutionary when it was first released, it holds music, videos, images and allows internet access whereever a valid internet connection is available. The screen is a good size for handheld games console (4.3 inches) and has a processor speed of 333 MHz.. Advantages: Amazing graphics and sound, lots of cool features and as the name describes it; portable.
Disadvantages: Dissapointing range of hi-profile games. Screen quite scratch-prone without a protective case

...I love my PSP, but I'm still playing games I bought 2 or 3 years ago for my original PSP-1000. For a new user, especially, the lack of new games is enough to make anyone worry about investing in one. The 4.3-inch LCD wide screen remains, and it's been tweaked. Sony says the new screen now delivers better color reproduction, reduced glare, and reduced "ghosting" on high-motion scenes. When compared with the 2000, the PSP 3000 does, indeed, deliver better color vibrancy (you can toggle between "wide" and "standard" color in the options to see the difference). As for glare reduction: we didn't find there to be a huge difference. Don't expect to play in direct sunlight, for instance. But you might have better luck with fewer distractions from indoor light sources....

For me the PSP is, and always will be, primarily a games console. I can see myself watching the odd DVD which is why I sought out a large memory stick. I've already said I can't fault the games system itself but what I can fault is the launch price. Compared to Microsoft in particular SONY do seem to be a little greedy on the launch point of their systems. £180 for the PSP with NO GAMES does seem a little steep. If you just bear in mind that Microsoft's XBOX 360 base system is to launch at a few pennies under £210 you can put this into perspective. There are already some pretty reliable indications that SONY'S Playstation 3 will launch at around £400...

Advantages: Very "wow" at the minute, has to be held in the hand to believe!

...Very impressive handheld, bought by parents from a visit in HK in Feb 2005. First impressions was that the handheld is simply stunning to look at, very small and very sexy! Was initially a little concerned that the console was a bit "too light", but that was corrected when I inserted the battery pack! Once fully charged - I believe 2-3 hours(?) the machine was booted up, initial impressions of the screen and brightness was very very positive. Bright and clear. The user interface was relatively simple to adapt to as well. Very slick. I also like how the background colour changes as the month's change very subtle. The game load time is not instant, but once loaded, you can power the PSP down yet it will remember where the last saved position was and you just pick up and go - without the PSP reloading - nifty. ...I can remember the day that the PSP came out in the UK and my older brother being one of the first 500 to get one and register. 8 months after that I bought mine and still use it just as much if not more. The PSP is an advanced piece of technology combining: Handheld Gaming, an MP3 player, and MP4 player, A Digital Camera (Not Included) and an online browser all that is needed is a phone which there have been rumors of. The PSP is a great gaming device whilst the list of games many will enjoy are small but then the target age group for the PSP is 16 - 30 year olds as not many parents would trust a 10 year old with such a piece of expensive kit.
