Advantages: Great portable media player. Ideal for Games & Movies
Disadvantages: Not so good as an MP3 player as a little bulky.

...This is an ideal portable console/MP3 Player and MP4 Player for all. Since having the PSP I no longer find myself bored whilst on the train to work. I generally use it for gaming and watching movies. The gameplay/graphics are awesome for such a small device. The added bonus of the PSP is that you can switch it off and when you switch it back on again it allows you to play where you left off even if this is half way through a football match. As for movie capability, this is straight forward. As long as you have a large enough memory card, you can load MP4 files and watch movies on the go with the PSP. I don't really use the PSP as an MP3 player as it's a little too bulky for the pocket. I don't think this is the main benefit of the PSP but the option's there. Advantages: Good features, music, videos, internet access, good availibility of games
Disadvantages: Not as advanced as newer consoles/gadgets

...The Sony PSP was revolutionary when it was first released, it holds music, videos, images and allows internet access whereever a valid internet connection is available. The screen is a good size for handheld games console (4.3 inches) and has a processor speed of 333 MHz.. ...I love my PSP, but I'm still playing games I bought 2 or 3 years ago for my original PSP-1000. For a new user, especially, the lack of new games is enough to make anyone worry about investing in one. The 4.3-inch LCD wide screen remains, and it's been tweaked. Sony says the new screen now delivers better color reproduction, reduced glare, and reduced "ghosting" on high-motion scenes. When compared with the 2000, the PSP 3000 does, indeed, deliver better color vibrancy (you can toggle between "wide" and "standard" color in the options to see the difference). As for glare reduction: we didn't find there to be a huge difference. Don't expect to play in direct sunlight, for instance. But you might have better luck with fewer distractions from indoor light sources....

But enough of that lets get on with the review. -*-*- What is the Sony PSP and what does it do? -*-*- The PSP is basically a better version of a Multimedia player whereas you can play games aswell I will explain this in a little more detail in a moment. ...I can remember the day that the PSP came out in the UK and my older brother being one of the first 500 to get one and register. 8 months after that I bought mine and still use it just as much if not more. The PSP is an advanced piece of technology combining: Handheld Gaming, an MP3 player, and MP4 player, A Digital Camera (Not Included) and an online browser all that is needed is a phone which there have been rumors of. The PSP is a great gaming device whilst the list of games many will enjoy are small but then the target age group for the PSP is 16 - 30 year olds as not many parents would trust a 10 year old with such a piece of expensive kit. Advantages: Very "wow" at the minute, has to be held in the hand to believe!

...on a new format - UMD (universal Media Disc), on which movies and the like are due to arrive as well, these discs pop into a slot which is on the back of the PSP - think Mini Disc and you get the idea. After a while of playing I did notice the console feeling a little heavy on the wrists, but it was okay. Other aspects hmmmmm, the memory stick is a must the 32mb stick in the value pack is a little tight, but will do to save games etc. But to really fully benefit from the PSP multi media capability, you have to get a 512mb or the 1gb (believe me the 1gb's are rare no one has them in stock!). Transfering data to the memory stick Duo is a snap either via the optional USB cable (Not included in the value pack - very disappointing) or via a card reader (I opted for the latter - saves powering up the PSP). ...Sony's first handheld is technology at it's best. It's now available in 11 colours and it has power somewhere between the Playstation and PS2, which, for a handheld, is utterly amazing. It has wireless multi-player providing the other PSP has the same game, and some games are turn-based, so (providing you trust who you're playing with) you simply take turns on the games. Graphically, the PSP, for a console of it's size, is brilliant. If you've ever played a Playstation 1, think of the graphics of the most visually pleasing game you ever played on it, better it slightly, and shrink it down to handheld.
