...The Playstation 2 has sold in excess of over 100 million consoles since it was released back in 2000. When orginally released the Playstation 2 was much larger in size than the slimline version which Sony released in 2004. I am going to look into what are the benefits of the new system and look at the good and bad features. Good Features The Slimline Playstation 2 is much quieter than the original console because it simply looks much better, the slim design is better on the eye and also it is less noisy as the console does not have a fan. Instead it uses air vents to keep the console cool. It does the job to be honest because I owned the console for over 2 years and it has never crashed or overheated. ...fine, nothing wrong with it as far as i can hear. Controller - Comfortable, not as good as an XBOX360 controller but then, what is? Games - Just about every genre of game is on the PS2, there are masses of games to be played and they are all fairly cheap nowadays. Also plays some of the greatest games of all time like Final Fantasy, Grand theft auto and Need for Speed. Extras - It uses memory cards so you can use your save game on other people playstation - Until recently I found out that the removable plastic section at the back is for a harddrive (this is not in the slimline version) - It can be connected to the internet (for multiplater etc) - It can use a range of accesories, eyetoy (camera), steering wheels, guns, microphones, skateboards and even chainsaws. Even though it is 'out of date' it still have hours of play value....

...I should start by saying that I am not part of the PlayStation generation, I'm 44 and my first introduction to gaming outside of arcades was awarded to me as the result of an on line competition when I won a good old PSOne (yes, people do win those draws), that was about 7 or 8 years ago I guess. About 5 years ago I upgraded to the original PS/2 and have enjoyed many late nights / early mornings gaming on that till about 8 months ago when it gave up the ghost. With the launch of PS/3 'imminent' I thought I could wait for that - but Oh No it gets delayed and delayed again and my patience runs out. Advantages: You can do many things on it and it doesn't break easily.
Disadvantages: You may have to clean it from time to time.

...I think the Sony Playstation 2 is really fun and I have spent many happy hours just playing on games. It very rarely ever shuts off, it only has shut down once in the whole 3 years I've had it. Me and my brother have listened to c'ds on there and played on our playstation 1 games, so you don't have to buy the playstation 2 version of the games if you've already got the playstation 1 version. There is so many games out there you can buy for the playstation so that you'll never get bored. Although, you might want to buy a cleaning disk and now and again clean the playstation, as this prevents it from getting dusty and wrecking the games. Overall, I think this product is well worth its money and I would recommend it to anyone, as it is suitable for all age groups. Advantages: It has good graphics, Plays DVD's and has loads of games
Disadvantages: It's graphics aren't as good as the Xbox's or the Gamecubes

I got one of these for christmas, but prior to purchasing it I had a bit of a dilema, 'Should I buy a PS2 or an XBOX?'(I didn't even consider the Nintendo Gamecube because it doesn't play DVD's, and it has about two must have games. ...Having had a PS1, I was keen to pre order a PS2. It arrived with four days to spare before Christmas. It came with Ridge racer V and Tekken Tag Tournament. First impressions were that I was impressed. The graphics are certainly a significant improvement on PS 1 but the games at this stage are, not surprisingly, expensive. The games themselves have slightly improved as there are more options available with them but the cost of setting up the new system is a lot for only a smallish improvement. I would recommend it as being better than the Dreamcast as there seems to be more variety in the games and the controllers have a better layout. Advantages: Really good graphics, Blue Ray player built in, wireless internet for free

...Sony's next generation console was well worth the wait from the Playstation 2. I have owned a PS3 for just over a year now and I have so far had no problems with it and to see the quality of the graphics of any game was incredible, and it was such a step up from the PS2. Although Sony was late in releasing the PS3, it was worth the wait in the end, although I did consider getting an Xbox 360 instead. The Xbox 360 came out much earlier and allowed microsoft the oppurtunity to get more Xbox 360's out there before the PS3 was even out. However there have been many reported problems with the Xbox 360, such as the console freezing, so I thought I best play it safe and instead get the PS3 when I had some money. Adventures sought with PS2!

Advantages: fairly cheap - plays Playstation games - DVD player - good graphics - wide choice of games
Disadvantages: --None--

If using a DVD the DVD automatically loads and the control pad (which is similar to the PS1 gamepad) is used to make sleections - skip scenes - fast forward etc. On the size front the PS2 sits neatly by the side of any TV - black in colour and 30 long - 15cm wide. It stands approx. 8cm of the floor. The best thing about the PS2 is that I could play all of my old PS1 games on it - watch DVD's and buy new releases which continue to be released to this date - the graphics are still cool but not on a par with the X-Box or X-Box 360. Sadly the PS2 has been overtaken by the consoles released by Microsoft but this should not mean the end for the PS2 - I finally upgraded to the Microsoft X-Box but still keep the PS2 in a box and it does see the light of day every now and again while I play some old favourites...

...The Playstation 2 has many functions to it, you can get it in Jet Black, which I have it in, or you can get it in Silver, which looks way much better, but it is very rare to find.
