...I think the Sony Playstation 2 is really fun and I have spent many happy hours just playing on games. It very rarely ever shuts off, it only has shut down once in the whole 3 years I've had it. Me and my brother have listened to c'ds on there and played on our playstation 1 games, so you don't have to buy the playstation 2 version of the games if you've already got the playstation 1 version. There is so many games out there you can buy for the playstation so that you'll never get bored. Although, you might want to buy a cleaning disk and now and again clean the playstation, as this prevents it from getting dusty and wrecking the games. Overall, I think this product is well worth its money and I would recommend it to anyone, as it is suitable for all age groups. I got one of these for christmas, but prior to purchasing it I had a bit of a dilema, 'Should I buy a PS2 or an XBOX?'(I didn't even consider the Nintendo Gamecube because it doesn't play DVD's, and it has about two must have games. Also worth noting is the fact that there are two MagicGate? ports for memory cards so you can still save your position in any games to come back to at a later time. Another smart move is to have an internal Ethernet port for network game play fitted; now you simply have to load the Sony network access disk and link your PS2 to a router to enjoy fun and games with other like minded folk. But why Sony have not included the network access disk in the box is beyond me, perhaps it is to ensure you register your PS2 as you cannot get the disk without doing so. Playstation 2 - Still worth a look

Advantages: Big choice of games, can be stored flat or on its side, is a DVD player
Disadvantages: Disc read error problems do happen after alot of heavy use

Anyway back to the machine and on the front you have the aforementioned disc drawer, with, of course, the Playstation logo on it and the reset and eject buttons. You also have two controller ports for plugging in two controllers (I was given a non Sony controller with the console when I got it in June and it didn't work, im not entirely sure if the controller port is slightly temparemental but when I bought an official Sony one, that worked first time so I presume it was a faulty/cheap imitation controller). As well as this, just above the controller ports, are the flaps for the memory cards. ...The ps2 is a great console although it is almost10 years old. It has alot of features that anyone can use with ease. On it you can watch Movies, Play games and also play online with people around the world providing that you can internet access on it. there are a wide variety of games available for it and they are also quite cheap. The playstation itself can come quite cheap with prices starting at £40 in some shops. You might also want to get some accessories for it such as the vertical stand, the eyetoy camera and the DVD remote if you want one. The only bad points about the playstation i would say are the fact that it is quite fragile and would break easily....
