...I dont have a 20 channel receiver however I do have a 12 channel receiver which came in the box with my Tom Tom Navigator 5 for PDA, whichi I use in my Treo 680 Smart Phone. The whole thing works perfectly and I couldn't ask for more as Sat Nav goes. The GPS receiver looks identical to the 20 channel one shown here and if this one works as well as mine does then you can't go wrong. It has a matt cover which makes it stay put where ever you place it on the dashboard and in use I've found that it picks up a signal very quickly and once linked to the PDA by bluetooth it keeps the signal so long as it can see just a tiny bit of sky. Once linked I take the unit off the dash and place it on the floor of the car in between the seats and it keeps the signal through motorway tunnels and even during a traffice halt under a bridge! ...IMPORTANT UPDATE: Sony no longer make sat navs for the European market and are thus slowly stopping support for the current line-up. So it looks as if there will be no further map updates for Sony sat navs. A real shame, i think, as i believe they could have gone on to produce some great products. After much consideration, and research, I decided that the Sony was exactly what I wanted - a basic system that would replace the hassle of map reading and, thus, save a marriage! A Sat Nav to give Tomtom a run for it's money!

To my amazement, the routing for lorries on the U-92 does seem to have had some serious thought put into it. With the very - very odd exception, the route calculated by the U-92 for lorries may not be the shortest but is 99.5% the most appropriate. What is even more surprising is that the ETA displayed with this setting appears to have taken into account the lower speed restrictions for HGV's and is 99.9% of the time, accurate to within 4-5 minutes.
