VGN-FE21M
Review of Sony VAIO VGN-FE21M by
mooMan101
Advantages: Stylish looks
Disadvantages: Weight, battery died, short-cut buttons didn't work.
...The Sony VAIO VGN-FE21M the laptop I am currently using. I am a student who does quite alot of travelling and I use the to keep in touch with family and friends. For the fist year this laptop worked fine apart from the short -cut buttons have never worked, after the first year the silver coating came off the mute, vol. up and vol. down buttons. Aslo into the second year they battery stopped working (I am not sure why i think it may have been to over heating), witch is ever annoying as now I need to have the have it plugged in to use, not ideal when travelling at all. The weight of the laptop is a little on the heavy side, and can add strain when carrying it with other items. Does look stylish and the speakers are of good quality compared to other laptops I've used. Another problem is the headphone 3.5mm jack is on the front, this makes...

Sony VGN-C2S Lap Top
Review of Sony VAIO C1S/P - Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
ScottishWestie
Advantages: Stylish, well made, good features, light weight, fantastic screen
Disadvantages: Short power lead, only two USB outlets, no infra red
...I've only owned my Sony lap top for a short time & I'm impressed with the geneal fit & finish, light weight construction, standard wi-fi & other features. The keyboard has a lovely quality feel to it, battery life is around 2 hours & the screen is totally amazing. It came with Vista Home Premium & Sony have added extra valuable software from Adobe & for Sony MP3s. The lap top comes with a separate SD card reader & memory stick 'gate' for simple downloading of digital pictures. The lap top came in a choice of colours, my one is in silver & white & looks similar to an Apple Mac lap top. My only gripes is the rather short power lead, only 2 USB outlets, no infra red facility & miserable one year warranty. However it is a rather stylish & well made lap top that should give years of good service....

I love my Sony Vaio VGN-S2XP
Review of Sony VAIO S2XP - Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
niglom
Advantages: Very light, fantastic screen, good battery life
Disadvantages: 512 meg memory is a bit mean, Sony setup
...as the battery life it provides. This VGN-S2XP gives me around 3.5 hours between charges.
I frequently use this laptop to watch DVD's when away from home, the screens great in wide format and the battery life will last the duration of a feature film.
Sony sets the software up in its own customised way, this didn't suit me so I scrubbed off a lot of the applications and reloaded my own versions. If you're a novice or not that picky then Sony's setup will suit you.
I got mine new on EBay for £1400, extra memory cost me £90.
Hope this helps...

Sony Vaio VGN S1XP
Review of Sony Vaio VGN S1XP by
haze1smith
Advantages: Light, compact, screen display
Disadvantages: Price, no floppy drive, hard to source
...I'll firstly start of with a cutdown list of the specification (I have not listed full details as they go on for ages!).
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 735 Processor, 1.70A GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache, 400 MHz FSB, Windows® XP, 13.3" Display X-black, 1200 x 800 resolution, 512Mb RAM, 60Gb hard Disk, DVD-RW, Graphic Card ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700, 64 MB VRAM, Wireless LAN, 10/100 network, modem, 2 x USB, Memory stick slot
We had been looking for a lightweight laptop for a while, and after good advice decided to go for one of the Sony Vaio S series. After much deliberation I decided on the S1XP - the top model of the series (there are three models - S1XP, S1VP (availble only from Sony) and the S1HP (base model).
The main reason for the purchase was to have soemthing lightweight but functional for travel. A lot of laptops seem to come with endless...

Slick, Thin, Stylish and oh-so Pretty
Review of Sony Vaio VGN-B1VP by
suspectdevice
Advantages: Looks cool, small, performs well.
Disadvantages: Expensive, somewhat lacking in creativity.
...laptop certainly deserves a 10/10.
CONNECTIVITY
The VAIO VGN-B1VP has a 100Mbps Ethernet port, a V.92 modem and Wireless LAN Type 802.11 b/g for connecting to the internet. I personal made much use of the WiFi having my own home network, the range is about 30m which is rather average. But on the whole the build-in WiFi is good and easy enough to use, and included with the laptop were Sony utilities for setting up a wireless connection which helped a lot. The laptop also have two USB 2.0, one Firewire port, microphone and headphone jacks, and a Type II PC Card slot. It also has a Memory Stick Pro card reader, which i guess is a nice touch, though I'd rather they included a more popular card slot, like SD (which i use much more often). One major thing lacking for me was the no bluetooth, i know many laptops similar to this have it included...

A Nice Buy!
Review of Sony VAIO FE28B - Core Duo T2300 1.66 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
kristalsoldier
Advantages: Light, stylish and efficient
Disadvantages: Touchpad and Sony's after-sales service reputation
...I had run the last legs off my Toshiba Satellite Pro and needed a replacement laptop. As an academic, I needed a machine which would be reliable, roomy (I mean this in terms of HD space) and mobile. Suggestions from friends were eventually narrowed down to 2 brands - Toshiba (advantage - I was familiar with the brand) and Sony. Guess what...One look at the Sony Vaio series and I was 'lusting' for it!
Given my budget, my choices narrowed down to the VGN-FE28B and the FE-31H. The price differential between the two was approximately £200. While my first choice was the FE-31H, the cheapest online seller (that I could find) was out of stock and thus I was left with the FE-28B.
At first glance:
HDD: 100GB
CPU: Core Duo, T2300 (1.66GHz)
Graphics: GeForce Go 7400
OS: Win XP SP2 (MCE)
Screen 15.4" WXGA (1280x800)
Box arrives. I unpack...

Very N-pressed!
Review of Sony VAIO N11S/W - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
lisarichardson18
Advantages: Price! Slim design, X-black LCD , Speed
Disadvantages: Weight, Partitioned Hardrive ,USB, Speakers
...Sony Vaio N-Series
VGN-N11S
As I'm studying IT at college I needed a laptop that would be perfect for my studies quick enough to deal with all my applications and being a student, affordable.
The VGN-N11S is perfect for all of these, but don't be fooled by the price. At last, Sony have brought us a good quality laptop with many great features which is affordable! They state that this laptop is the 'Perfect Balance Between Value and Versatility', I definitely agree!
Specifications:
Processor: Intel Core Duo T2050 (1.6GHz x 2)
Hard drive: 100 GB
RAM: 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM
Battery Life: 3.8 hours
15.4' X-black LCD monitor
DVD±RW
I love the slim design; its height is only 2.9cms. The bright white colour makes this laptop look modern and stand out from others. I was quite worried at first about the colour getting dirty easily, but its...

A monster laptop
Review of Sony VAIO A217M - Pentium M 725 1.6 GHz - 17" TFT by
Nick_Endeavour
Advantages: X-Black Screen, Good Battery Life, Qualiy Built, Size
Disadvantages: Size, Weight, Propeitary Software, 2x256MB RAM
...The VGN-217M from Sony came out a little while ago but nonetheless it remains a flagship of Sony Laptops.
The Features:
It has a humongous 17" X-Black that makes envious anyone, including PowerBook users This screen is it major selling point. Running this at a resolution of 1440x900 offers a crisp display thanks to the ATi Mobility Radeon 9700.
Needles to say that the graphics are more than adequate to run anything you would want a laptop to do. It might not play all the power hungry newest games that will only run on monster desktops but lefts face whoever wants to shell out of the Sony VAIO wants it more for its style, status and built quality. In that note this was the first PC laptop that gave a dent to the Apple's self-inflated image of we have more style that anyone else. A point there for sony.
Included with the gorgeous...

Is it wrong to love a machine so much?
Review of Sony VAIO FE31M - Core 2 Duo T5600 1.83 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
podgepig
Advantages: Attractively Designed / Excellent Performance
Disadvantages: erm...
...Good day and welcome to my review of the wondrous, the sublime, the fantabulous, the wonderiffic, the somewhat shiny, merry laptop of joyous tidings that is the catchily named Sony VGN - FE31M. (The very name itself, sends shivers of anticipation... or perhaps eyebrow - raising bemusement... down your spine)
To kick off my review in a predictable, inevitable and somewhat tedious way I shall bombard you with technical waffle, the likes of which you have never seen! (well, maybe you have if you have read the box it comes in).
Processor:
Yep, it has one. The sturdy little workhorse that is known to those in the know as "The Intel Core 2 Duo T5600".
Now, to those of you who, like me, uttered oaths upon the lines of "Yeah, what's one of them things then?" (or other more profane variations), this is a Dual Core (yep two of 'em) 1...
