Sony VPL-ES2
Advantages: Motorised Tilt, Auto Setup
Disadvantages: Poor Sound Quality
...The sony VPL-ES2 is a great projector at a bargain price. I wil admit that I think it would struggle with large presentations with only having a 1500 lumen lamp. But for home use and for small scale office presentations this projector is just what you need.
I bought this projector for watching films at home after selling my previous projector due to it being far too noisy. This projector is very different when it is on the sound from it is barely noticeable.
If you've purchased a projector before then you'll know that the most important thing is the bulb life. Because when the bulb goes they can easily cost anywhere upwards from £300-£400. It is often a more economically viable option just to replace the projector. However with this projector you have no reason to worry. The bulb life is a staggering 3000hours and in eco mode it...

NO MORE VPL!
Advantages: quiet, horizontal AND vertical keystone adjustment
Disadvantages: no gamma correction facility, low output
...resolution of 800 x 600, although not at the upper end of the scale this is more than sufficient for the video signals that it's designed to support. There are composite and S-video connectors at the rear, and a proprietary connector for the supplied five-metre composite video lead. Sony doesn?t provide one but if you so wish you can purchase a VGA cable to connect the unit up to a computer.
At 700 ANSI Lumens the VPL isn't an especially bright projector (for the majority of projectors 1,000 Lumens and higher is more common), but it provides a maximum image width of over three metres.
~~~DESIGN AND FUNCTIONALITY~~~
The unit has a sleek design, although it has a large chassis, or at least larger than the average, in one respect this is actually an advantage. Having a larger chassis allow more effective airflow through the internal...
Sony's Excellent Projector
Advantages: High Brightness, 3LCD Projection System, AIAS (Advanced Intelligent Auto Setup), Short Focal Length
Disadvantages: Abit Noisy
...The Sony VPL CX21 is a bright, slim, and stylish projector designed for mobile applications. A friend of mine has this and we always watch movies on it. The projector has many features which I've written about below with brief explanation of each feature:
- High Brightness of 2100 ANSI Lumens
The projector has three Sony 0.63-inch LCD panels and a latest designed 165 W lamp, it has a brightness of 2100 ANSI lumens, which provides amazing image quality even in very high ambient-light. The projector has a resolution of XGA (1024 x 768), this simply means fine display of even the smallest details.
- 3LCD Projection System
This is what the Sony projector is all about, it has a 3LCD projection system which means the projected images are bright and natural and for this to be achieved it has 3 LCD panels. It provides high light...
Sony Portable Projector
Advantages: Easy to carry, light and compact
Disadvantages: Expensive to maintain
...I have used this Sony Projector for over 3 years.
It is very light, compact and easy to use.
It comes in a canvas carry case with shoulder strap. The projector itself folds up in to a compact carry case. The front cover folds over with a handle and locks so it can be carried like a mini briefcase.
The control functions are on top of the projector.
There is a row of buttons on the front, Power,Input,APA, and volume control.
On the right are buttons for reset,menu,arrow keys and enter.
There are 4 light signals,lamp,fan,power saving,standby.
The port at the back has audio,mouse,video,svideo and scart to laptop connection.
THe SONY LCD Projector made in Japan is very reliable.
THis one is probably 5 years old. Replacement lamps for it are now very expensive. When you switch it on it is ready to use in about 3 minutes. The picture...
SOny VPLCX76 - Excellent value and quality.
Advantages: Excellent picture quality, Strong built in wireless support, Good build quality
Disadvantages: Contrast is poor
...This projector is very simple to operate, with Sony?s automatic setup features present in full force. Turning on the power causes the built-in lens protector to retract -- there?s no lens cap to lose -- and the motorised tilt mechanism to raise the projector to the height last used. Auto input search then finds your PC or video connection and displays the image, which is then automatically adjusted for focus, vertical keystone and pixel alignment. Manual settings include a horizontal keystone adjustment that allows you to project off-centre from the wall or screen you?re using. When the power is removed, the internal cooling fans continue to blow until the lamp has cooled. This means you can switch off and go without the usual wait before unplugging the projector.
The VPL-CX76 uses 3 x LCD imaging and the image quality of the VPL-CX76...
Sony VPL-CS1 A Projector Well Ahead Of It's Time
Advantages: 1280 x 1024 Maximum Resolution
Disadvantages: Not designed for ceiling mounting.
...This is a great projector overall. I recognise that this is a fairly old projector and pretty much outdated, but as I work with secondhand electronics, I am seeing this projector becoming more and more popular. If you are looking to buy one secondhand I wouldn't expect you to pay any more than £200 at most.
Please do not be put off by the fact that this projector has a brightness of 600 lumens. It is on par with projectors of around 1500 lumens. Infact, it is far better than most projector of double the brightness (1200 lumens) the projectors that come to mind are Toshiba's, but I'll review some of them later.
I think that this projector is popular for a couple of reasons. One is that it has a max resolution of 1280 X 1024 which is superior than most new projectors and certainly beats any projector in it's price range. The second...
The price of portability and quality
Advantages: Portability - appearance - resolution
Disadvantages: Price
..., finances don't always stretch that far and then you can hear me talking up my Alba stereo and LG television!)
And so I arrive at the Sony VPL EX1 data projector. For those who have not used or become aware of data projectors: a data projector takes input from a computer or tv/video/dvd source and projects it onto a screen or wall at a far larger size than would normally be considered affordable. Ideal for presentations to an audience that are increasingly finding their way into the home as a tool for home cinema. In this instance, having used the projector for some time, I am happy to report that you do get what you pay for and to confirm that the Sony badge does cost a little more than some of the nearby projectors that look similar but carry an alternative brand name.
So, let’s start with the bottom line. This projector cost us...
Sony Playstation 3 (PS3)
Advantages: Best Entertainment System Avaliable, Region free games only
Disadvantages: 4GB file limitation External Storage, Cant read NTFS
...I am going to be reviewing possibly one of the biggest console in the market currently the PS3. Firstly I have one and it is great, now let's take a look at it in detail:
LAUNCH
November 11, 2006: This is when it debut in Japan
November 17, 2006: It released in North America
March 23, 2007: Finally was released in Europe, Australia, the Middle East, Africa and New Zealand.
The UK launch was a shock for who went to it, as it was announced that everyone in the queue would receive a 46" Sony Bravia TV worth £2000.
The launches did not turn out great for Sony as initial figures were low, here are the figures below:
Worldwide: 5.59 Million - Japan 1,341,000 - North America 2,105,500 - Other 1,300,000
The launch was initially supposed to be as follows:
November 11th for Japan and November 17th for North America...
A Great System from Sony
Advantages: Nice Classy Design, Great Graphics, and a Good Online
Disadvantages: Small Gamelist Thus Far and Some Games Suffer From Framerate and Graphical Pop-Up Issues
...Sony's Playstation 3 is thier third go around in the Video Game business. My console reviews usually consist of reviews in the following categories Controller, Graphics, Multiplayer/Online, and Game Library. Much like the Xbox 360, i'll also be reviewing the Design of the PS3.
The design of the PS3 is the more classy of the three new consoles. The PS3 is a black square system with a curved top. While the design is beautiful, this system is very big, matching the 360 in terms of size. The system also offers Blu-ray but, in my opinion, that should not be the only reason you should be spending $400-500 on this system.
The PS3's controller is the classic Playstation controller once again and that shouldn't be a problem for any gamer. The original PS3 controller was the Sixaxis but is now Dualshock 3. For a company that created...
