...I recently spent 2 weeks working in London and commuting to my office using the tube. Everywhere I looked, people were listening to Ipods. It sort of reminds me of the mobile phone market where Nokia were/have been seen as market leaders and their phones as being "must haves" on people's lists, despite the emergence of other brands such as Sony and Samsung. Up until recently I owned a 30 gig Ipod video. Don't get me wrong, it was ok in terms of sound quality. I thought the battery life (up to 14 hours) sucked and Itunes was the most user unfriendly software I've ever used. So, one day, I read a magazine review of the NW A808, and I bought one. ...I actually bought this player at Christmas for my son, and I have to say, I wanted to keep it for myself. The players come in several trendy colours Black, Silver, Pink and Violet. The violet one being the one I have. The look and feel of the player is the thing that draws you to it, as it just seems to give you that quality feeling, as it comfortably sits into the palm of your hand. The sound quality is excellent, although it is restricted,and the 6 GB space is more than enough for anyone. The 6 GB is actually a small hard disk as opposed to solid state or flash. The imformation display seems to be part of the players actual casing, as the displayed information seems to radiate through the surface. Which again adds to the quality feel. ...I had my eyes on this player for a long time, and finally decided to treat myself and buy one. I was not disappointed! With the NW-A1000, Sony have managed to create a small, incredibly portable and stylish player, with great sound quality and superb battery life. The design is quite unique - when turned off, the intuitive screen blends into the player. The first issue on most people's minds with regards to this model is whether it is worth paying a little bit extra and buying the size up, with a 20GB hard drive. Another member of my family had this model, and I personally found it a little too large in dimensions. It didn't slip into my pocket easily, and was bulkier in my hands than my smaller 6GB model. Advantages: Sounds amazing, looks cool, clear screen, easy to use, feels good, good weight
Disadvantages: No support for ogg, connect software is useless, slight hesitation on menus, no remote

...The NW-A3000 is the first harddisk player I have seen which I actually like the appearance of. I looked at all the available colours in the shop before I chose and the black is definitely the most classy looking. I thought I would get a bit sick of the purple in a few months time, and I had trouble seeing the screen on the silver model, no such problems with this one though. In the box you get the player, a cable to connect it to your computer , an adapter to charge the player via the mains and a few leaflets. I got it when it frist came out, eventhough hearing that the "connect player" software was really hard to follow and use I still got it anyway. First of all I found if I sync alot of music at the one time it goes slow so I learned by my own mistakes to just do a few at a time and regularly up-date the player which was easy enough for the player to handle. All you need to do is drag and drop I really didn't see the difficulty using the software I thought it was quite simple. Sony have now taken away this old method and produced a new way to sync your songs. This product over the years has had alot of competition from the ipod. Advantages: Very robust and well designed. Can access tracks easily
Disadvantages: Downloading music slow. Quality of music can be poor. Can come on if button knocked without you knowing in the case.

Advantages: Excellent sound quality and slimline and portable
Disadvantages: Not Capatible with WMA as mentioned Can't transfer from MP3 to PC

...Ultra slim but a very good MP3 player with excellent sound quality also on a full charge you are able to get at least 7hours or so of continuious usage from this great piece of equipment, you can also store pics, clip footage, only main draw backs I found that the software was very restricted to Sony and even though it explains on their package box WMA files can be used on the MP3 it's not the case it's MP3 and some of the other larger files it's uses but converts them to it's own style of Sony file. I also found transfering music onto the MP3 a doddle, but visa versa was extremely difficult or too much of a hassle to be honest and NOT AT ALL user friendly! but they have a helpline that wasn't too bad the software for it on the PC again is pretty good but as mentioned again has the above limitations but all in all a very good MP3...
