Sony NW-A3000 Black Hard Drive audio player

Advantages: Sounds amazing, looks cool, clear screen, easy to use, feels good, good weight
Disadvantages: No support for ogg, connect software is useless, slight hesitation on menus, no remote

...The NW-A3000 is the first harddisk player I have seen which I actually like the appearance of. I looked at all the available colours in the shop before I chose and the black is definitely the most classy looking. I thought I would get a bit sick of the purple in a few months time, and I had trouble seeing the screen on the silver model, no such problems with this one though. In the box you get the player, a cable to connect it to your computer , an adapter to charge the player via the mains and a few leaflets. You also get a driver and software CD which contains the user manual. I was a little disappointed by this, I still like to recieve a real paper manual, especially for a product this expensive. ...overall this is a quality machine and the device itself outweighs the odd computer glitch. The software updates get downloaded automatically anyway, so I'm sure Sony are working to bring it up to scratch. Buy the NW-A3000 and enjoy....

...I have had this product for two years now and it still works like new. I got it when it frist came out, eventhough hearing that the "connect player" software was really hard to follow and use I still got it anyway. First of all I found if I sync alot of music at the one time it goes slow so I learned by my own mistakes to just do a few at a time and regularly up-date the player which was easy enough for the player to handle. All you need to do is drag and drop I really didn't see the difficulty using the software I thought it was quite simple. Sony have now taken away this old method and produced a new way to sync your songs. This product over the years has had alot of competition from the ipod. Advantages: Very robust and well designed. Can access tracks easily

  A BIG missed opportunity. Sort it out Sony!!!

Advantages: 'Better than iPod' design. 'Better than iPod' look. Battery life (20-25 hours). The entire piece of hardware!
Disadvantages: The abysmal almost unusable software.

... Advantages The fist thing I have to say about this MP3 Player is that it is very durable. I have had my NW-A3000 for about 3 years now, I have dropped it on carpet, wood floors, stone/pavement many many times, had my keys crushed in to it making a crack on the from the large round button to the middle of the screen, and a dent on the form I don't know what and it still works just as well as when I got it, I'm sure I would of killed an iPod by now. This MP3 player looks good to me not like a bar of soap like others. The random setting is really good at picking random songs. ...I have been a Minidisc fan since it arrived and now I've upgraded from minidisc to the A3000 walkman. The great thing I discovered about minidisc was the power consumption which made me confident to upgrade. As promised the A3000 has the long battery life that I expected from Sony who are leading the field in battery life. The look of the A3000 is just so sweet, the volume control and Hold are on the sides of the unit so nothing sticks out, the three buttons on the front is something I like, makes everything easy when using the unit. ...i owned a 'new walkman' for around 2 years.the start of my experience was ok with it , battery life was really long as i wanted as i used it for work,it was durable and it could hold as many songs as i could come up with to put on it. the first operating system with it was ' connect player' which took ages to drop songs onto it because it converted them into its own format which was annoying ! then around 5 months ago i receved a message that song were dis continuing connect and using 'sonic stage ' so more hassle on the way, then on the way home i accidently dropped my walkman and it worked fine i carried on putting songs on until it crashed ! so did sonic stage and so did connect ! so i give in with mine and im saving for a good one this time ! DONT RECOMMEND !...

Advantages: long battery Life (about 25-30 hours depending on whether you are just listening to music or surfing through tracks

...I'm on my second Sony now (having had one stolen by some thieving scumbag). When it came to looking for a replacement i thought hard about whether to get a sony againbut when it came down to it there was little choice. The massive battery life of the sony compared to other MP3's makes it the obvious one to choose especially if your planning to travel with it. I t has a massive 30-35 hours straight playing time athough this is reduced a little if you spend a lot of time searching through tracksor comiling playlists. The charge time is pretty minimal too. you can get about 10-15 hours out of a one hour charge which totally wipes the floor with the I-pod and the creative. It looks great, is light and fits nicely into your back pocket it is also pretty scratch resistant (i dropped my first one twice and no marks were left on it!) unlike...

The headphones on their own is too short, but with the extension is too long. The features it includes are limited. It does all the normal cheap mp3 player stuff, but with a tad more. A-Z song/artist/album search is good but still slow once you have a fair few songs. Time machine shuffle, is a randomiser which selects a year and shuffles the songs from that year. Again a nice idea, but when will you use it, plus this brings in the need for accurate tagging, something alot of us just dont have time for.
