Advantages: Excellent player and sound quality
Disadvantages: Slightly awkward software

...I chose this player because I trusted Sony and needed a player that had Solid state (flash) storage, but played videos. at the time of purchase, it seemed like the best option. I would buy it again today. The player interface is incredibly easy to use; the screen is bright, sharp and vivid; and the bundled headphones give magnificent sound quality. Sony have been criticized over their Sonic Stage software that is used for music transfer. I admit that it can be slightly awkward and slow, but generally it does the job well. My only complaint with the player itself is that the headphones have a very short lead, Sony include an extender, but it is easy to loose and it would be far better to have bundled a set of earphones with a longer cable. Overall, definitely worth it....

I wanted something that was good and reputed at being good at playing music - this does it and I think puts everything else to shame (I listened to various other units and nothing matched this). ...I have owned this walkman model since Jan08 and think it is fantastic. I find it hard to believe that ipod out-sell sony to such an extent when sony are delivering such good walkmans. To begin with, the sony walkmans have a far superior sound capability. With such features as DSEE sound enhancement, "clear stereo," VTP surround and the dynamic normaliser available to enhance the all round quality of the tracks you listen to, ipod cannot compare. Also, the screen on the walkman has a crystal clear resolution. I would go as far to say that combined with the sound quality, I could become absorbed in a movie whilst watching it on the walkman - provided there were no glaring distractions! Several people I know own this most have black which is a matt finish but the pink is glossy and I believe the white version is too. It is very easy to use when coupled with windows media player and as long as your libraries are correct with song information then you can just sync the walkman with the library and hey presto all your media has been transferred. Its extremely fast even on a standard usb slot. Charging is done via usb so no need for cluttered wires everywhere. I often charge mine of the usb slot on my wii to free up usb slots on my computer. A word of warning though, I recommend you buy a case as the screen does scratch, they are only around £10 and its well worth thte investment, I was peeved when mine got scrathed especially when watching videos. Sony Walkman 16 GB: Great media player, but not without faults...

Advantages: Large 16GB capacity, easy to use interface, easy to transfer music/pictures, superb sound quality.
Disadvantages: Incompatibility with many video formats and competitor mains/USB recharger adaptors

However, an important fact I feel you should be aware of is the Players' incompatibility with recharger mains/USB adaptors not specifically designed for the player by Sony. I tried using a cheap competitor adaptor which resulted in my computer failing to recognise the player once connected (meaning I couldn't transfer any more music) which meant I had to get a replacement (which was thankfully provided free of charge). "Summary" The Sony Walkman NWZ-A829 is an audio player with a great host of features, superb sound quality and an easy to use user interface. It does have a few negative aspects and is expensive.
