Sophie Hannah - Little Face
Advantages: Good psychological thriller
Disadvantages: none
...I recently discovered the author Sophie Hannah after being given this book as a present. I was hooked from the first page and read this in two days!
When Alice Fancourt returns home after being out for the first time without her two-week old baby daughter Florence, she realises that the baby daughter she returns home to, having left her in the care of her husband David, is not Florence, but a baby she has never seen before!
David insists the baby is their daughter Florence, and that Alice is going mad!
Is Alice going mad? Or is David lying? And if he is, why would he do such a thing, and where is Florence?
Alice alerts the police, but has no proof, and DNA tests are taken. Whilst waiting for the results, David's behaviour towards Alice changes, becoming quite sinister and Alice feels threatened herself, both by him and his...

FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Another good read from Sophie Hannah
Advantages: A good page-turner
Disadvantages: none
...I have previously reviewed the first Sophie Hannah novel I read and thoroughly enjoyed, so thought I would now review the second.
I must admit I was looking forward to reading this book, as I love it when I find a new author I like, and after reading 'Little Face' I couldn't wait to read her next novel 'Hurting Distance'.
I wasn't disappointed, it was every bit as much enjoyable as 'Little Face' and another page-turner I could not put down until I had finished.
A good point is that we are re-introduced to Detectives Zailer and Waterhouse and again we follow the sub- storyline of their chemistry and feelings for each other, which is a story in itself!
The story is about Naomi Jenkins - a woman with a secret.....and a married lover, Robert Haworth, whom she is passionately in love with.
Suddenly, Robert just disappears without any...

Twenties Girl - Sophie Kinsella - Top REad
Advantages: A brilliant read
Disadvantages: none
...Twenties Girl ? Sophie Kinsella.......
Laura Linington's life is all the place when the news breaks of her great aunt Sadie's death. Laura's boyfriend, Josh, has made, what Laura thinks to be, a massive error in breaking off their two year relationship and her new working partnership with her best friend in a head hunting business is up in the air as her best friend has met a new man on holiday in Goa and doesn't appear to be returning any time soon. So when the ghost of her dead 105 year old great aunt appears at the funeral in the form of her in the 1920's Laura immediately puts it down to stress.
It seems however that Laura cannot shake off this stress as the ghost of Sadie Lancaster bullies her into stopping the funeral under suspicious death allegations. Laura's great aunt wants to find a necklace that belonged to her...

Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella
Advantages: Excellent book, great story and main character
Disadvantages: None
...I picked this book because I have enjoyed a couple of Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series and so hoped these would be a good light hearted read too.
Lexi wakes up in hospital believing she is 25 with a rubbish job, boyfriend and dodgy teeth. It is actually three years later and when she looks in the mirror she can't believe what she see's - she has sleek brown hair, perfect teeth and a tanned, toned body. But more shocks are to come as she discovers she is married to a millionaire, now head of her department and lives in an amazing loft-style apartment. Lexi can't believe how lucky she is and is determined to throw herself back into this perfect life to help return her memories, but she soon realises that not all is as it seems as her old friends seem to hate her and a sexy guy turns up claiming they were having an affair.
I...

Sophie's Big Bed.
Advantages: Lovely illustrations
Disadvantages: Limited use.
...The Author
Tina Burke lives in Australia and studied graphic design. She later trained as an animator at the Walt Disney Animation Studio in Sydney.
The Book.
Publisher - Puffin Baby
ISBN 0-14-350193-3
RRP - £3.99 - paperback.
The Story.
This is a simple short story about a little girl called Sophie who is at the stage of her development where she is moving from the security of her cot to a very big bed. The only problem is that she loves her cot, she obviously has the familiarity and security of her belongings in the cot, her blanket, pillow and toys and makes excuses using her toys to stay in her cot.
My opinion.
I think this is a simple story that shows the anxieties that children go through during the move from their cot to a bed. The illustrations use bright colours and show Sophie?s expressions of worry and joy very clearly...

Hurting distance - Sophie Hannah
Advantages: A good Read
Disadvantages: I have to wait till next year for her next book
...Hurting Distance - Sophie Hannah
I bought this book at my local Tesco on a buy two for £7.00 deal and it was well worth it.
I'm an avid reader and have read about 12 books this month of all different types. I tend to pick books by reading the back cover and then the first page and if it grips me immediately then I can't leave it behind.
The back of this book says "Three years ago, something terrible happened to Naomi Jenkins - so terrible she never told anyone" and the first page is an email she has written to a website called "Speak out and Survive"; you know then from the first page what Naomi's secret is, she's been raped. No I'm not giving the plot away, far from it, that's what I thought as well when I read it. I then though oh well; I'll give it a go anyway.
The next chapter is about a man she is deeply in love...

You leave me Breathless Mr Ward!
Advantages: Shayne Ward, lyrics, price
Disadvantages: It doesn't come with a free Shayne Ward
...faster than some, but you wouldn't hear it in a club.
Track Six - Until You
Good old slow track, Mr Ward sings a love story so well!
Track Seven - Some Tears Never Dry
More dramatic, another great song.
Track Eight - Melt The Snow
Probably my least favourite song on the album. Words are good, but its just a bit wishy washy for my liking.
Track Nine - Tangled Up
Quite a dancy track this one, again with a George Michael sound, still not sure which one this reminds me of either. No problem as far as I'm concerned as I quite like George as well!
Track Ten - Just Be Good To Me
A redo of the original, slightly more beaty, sings it well.
Track Eleven - U Got Me So
Very Timberlake style this one. A funky beat in the background, suits his voice, this probably could be played in a club.
Track Twelve - You Make Me Wish...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Shopaholic and Baby - Another great Sophie Kinsella Book
Advantages: Fun story, good characters
Disadvantages: I read it way too quick
...Those of you that have read a few of my reviews may have seen my reviews for another of the books in this series. For those who haven't read any I will give you a quick rundown of what has happened so far. This book is the latest in a series of books by Sophie Kinsella. The books are in the chick lit genre and are all based around a shopaholic called Becky. The books follow her story as she fights with her urges to shop while she has many big events in her life happen including meeting her husband Luke, moving to New York and meeting her sister she never knew she had.
In the last book right at the end we find out Becky is pregnant. How is this shopaholic going to cope with being pregnant and having a baby. This is a very exciting time for Becky and she cannot wait for the baby to arrive. The best bit about having a baby... she can...
